    Thank you for explaining this! Can’t wait to watch Footloose! Long live physical media! The4k looks great!

    Movies shot with anamorphic widescreen lenses also tend to produce a lot of inherent soft focus, particularly at the far left and right of the frame. I've never understood why a lot of people expect all 4K movies to have that super sharp digital sheen that modern digital cameras are able to produce. I like the look of 35mm and 70mm film much better anyway. I really wish that VistaVision had taken solid ground and become the standard film format, because it produced some of the most astounding images I've ever seen. The Trouble With Harry 4K is inconceivably sharp, filmic, and beautiful!

      Exactly. People also tend to think all movies shot on film must have heavy grain. Which is simply not the case

    I would TOTALLY get the 4k version because of this review. I absolutely love this movie &. It looks dynamite. Thanks, My Dude.

    I watched some reviews on this and was considering passing on it. These images may have convinced me to get it. Every passing day I’m starting to think people just like to trash stuff. Sometimes I fall for it sadly.

    Compared to the Blu, the 4K looks great. I suppose people like to complain for the sake of it.

    From the picures i've see the 4k version looks a lot better than the blu-ray release the 4k looks brighter and a lot sharper than the blu-ray release.

    4K looks much better, guess there are (as you say) limitations with the source material.

    I thought it look okay on 4K but way better then the DNR release which was terrible. Sure the 4K isn't perfect perfect it was the source material fault since it was old at the time

    It looks like the 4K shaved a bit off of the top and bottom of the picture?

    In the screenshots, it looks like the aspect ratio of the 4K is not the same as the aspect ratio on the Blu-ray. Does the 4K have a different aspect ratio from the Blu-ray?

      Bluray was framed at 1.78:1 4K at the appropriate 1.85:1. But you also have to take into account I had to adjust them to fit both movies in the same frame.

    Though this movie doesn’t look perfect on 4K, I agree this is the best I’ve seen it. The idea that people are suggesting it’s not worth the upgrade is insane to me. If you love the move, it is absolutely worth it. Just have expectations in check and you’ll enjoy the improvements..

      I wish people would listen to legit reviewers instead of reddit threads or groups because it was slammed even before it's released and no one bought it bevause of that. When places like hidefdigest and other sppace said it has its problems but it's not a bad 4K and recommended it.

    Wow that blu ray must be poor because a 4k getting canned by some looks miles better.

    I thought they will do a Young Sherlock Holmes on us again for this release of Footloose on 4k well this release was restored from a 35 mm negative or an interpositive for this release some boutiques labels should release this instead Paramount what Boutiques labels you had on you mind for this release of Footloose.

    • @TwinFlicks
      @TwinFlicks  5 місяців тому +1

      Boutique labels don't do their own restoration work. The studio does and the Boutique labels releases it. So it wouldn't have mattered if a Boutique label released it or not, footloose would still have the same results

      @@TwinFlicks Shout! Factory did Release a Paramount film on 4k called Clue it was restored from a 35mm Negative and was a step up from the Paramount release Blu-ray from 10 year ago you should do comparison video on that film boutiques labels do release some of the studio back catalog film from Paramount Universal Warner Bros MGM on Blu-ray or 4k company like Vinegar Syndrome Criterion Arrow Kino Shout! MVD Had the license for the release from the studio Beside having the studio to release it by themselves There are some film look better on 4k by some Boutiques Labels with the studio permission the studio did the restoration and had the boutiques labels releasing it by themselves beside the studio they did get someone for the restoration the director of Footloose Herbert Ross has been dead for a decade now they should get the cinematographer of the film for this release like any other release do that by getting the cinematographer who shot the film as a supervisor for the restoration many films look back if they got cinematographer or the director for the release Footloose is not like Young Sherlock Holmes or American Graffiti (which i like that film anyway) on 4k i think some Boutiques Labels should release films like 1985's Better Off Dead on 4k which Paramount own and was originally released By Warner Bros in 1985 and it was release on home video by Key Video and was release by 20th century Fox in the late 90s which Fox is now own by Disney and was release on DVD by Paramount during the 2000s Paramount still own the film i wonder why they didn't give a to some Boutiques Labels
      To release it on Blu-ray or 4k Better Off Dead is a classic it need a 4k release by some Boutiques Labels now.

    Hello
    i think the PQ looks good on my pro calibrated LGC9.
    but think your pictures are in the wrong order. your Blu ray should be 4K and vice versa. the color is not as oversaturated on 4K as your pictures show and your sharpness on 4K is not correct, 4K is not that sharp. so either you are wrong of your pictures or you have the sharpness on your TV and the colors too high on your TV.

    • @TwinFlicks
      @TwinFlicks  5 місяців тому +2

      Your watching this on youtube that's heavily compressed. It's impossible to look how it would on your home theater. So alot of time colors may look to hot or not as it would on your TV. And I didnt not take the stills off my TV. They are pulled directly from the 4K disc and Bluray disc. But the point still gets across in the video. The 4K looks good and it's not garbage as some are saying.

      @@TwinFlicks I see.
      But my 4K looks like your Blu-ray images do and yes it is my 4K disc am watching Dolby Vision. I totally agree with you that 4k looks good, better than the Blu-Ray does.
      I have seen comparisons between look Blu-Ray and the 4K on YT and 4K of them looks like your Blu-Ray images.
      But anyway, the PQ looks good.

    If they refuse to divulge the nature of their scan for 4K, that means it was culled from a Telecine print. Which would have been most likely created in the late 80's/early 90's for laserdisc presentation. And possibly even created earlier for broadcast and cable TV runs. I've learned this over the years from people who worked for the various studio's home vid divisions.

    • @TwinFlicks
      @TwinFlicks  5 місяців тому +1

      It doesn't specifically mean that at all. There are many times major studio don't lend out info because they don't see a need to.
