    Watching this while building my Nimbus 550 V2. Main reason I bought this one was I got the kit for a steal on Black Friday and also rear load battery tray with quick battery connectors are a life changer when flying helis. Done taking canopies on/off and them getting damaged, cracked or scratched up and needing to spend more time before and after flying to deal with getting batteries in and out.

      So personally, I don’t mind taking the canopy on and off to change. Batteries allows me to inspect the mechanics in between flights. Give it a quick once over but reloaded battery trays are very convenient for quick changing of packs. Both have there plus in my opinion.

      Wow I didn't even think about what Jeff said as a 2nd thought. I figured I would look over it anyway. But I can see how having to not take off the canopy overlooking something that if I had of taken off the canopy I would have seen.
      I am however tired of canopies being destroyed just from taking them on and off. 😡

    I’d get the Tron.

      So personally my favorite size is 550/600. I love 700s don’t get me wrong but I just feel so much more connected to the 550/600 size class. But the Tron is an incredible helicopter. Both of them are great and you can’t go wrong with either one the choice really comes down to which one you like best.

The times have changed and it’s pretty crazy to see the evolution of these machines over the years. I can’t wait to build the GMP and really See how helicopters have come. I sure do! It’s awesome! Thank you all for this!

    Tron has said they use nuts on the tail shaft because it’s stronger. It’s a solid shaft instead of one with a bolt. I don’t know but it makes sense to me.

    You literally can't go wrong with either one of these. The overall finish on the Goosky I feel is a lot nicer. The Tron is kind of plain when start looking at some of the details in the head and tail. But in the end it's all about how they fly. Both are exceptional machines.

    • @westhobbiesrc8051

    Both very nice designs, I would pick the Tron just because the tail pulley is below the main gear. Same reason I went M4 over RS4. I've only had to do one boom replacement, but I greatly appreciated not having to pull the main shaft.

  • @kajuta240
    @kajuta240 День тому +3

    Dont forget the grease ports on the Tron! Its such a nice design feature. Goosky wins on the servo placement, very tight to the CG against the main shaft and I would wager probably the better balanced performer for hard 3d smack. But everything else about the Tron just sticks out; not just the better look, also the better engineering and overall room to place your avionics.
    I agree, both are excellent craft and I dont think anyone would be in the wrong for either choice.
    PS.
    About your switch blades. What is it you like so much about them as your favored go to?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  День тому +1

      That is the best feature I think! And I’m glad to see more and more helicopters coming with that feature! I did not mention it because I forgot, but it is a great one. My opinion, the Tron has a lot tighter center gravity layout than the RS5. The RS5 has a lot of room around the center with the servos spaced out. So I like switch because they have that “older” feel. Great at all, RPMs, they’re a heavier blade so the helicopter isn’t so responsive where it’s kind of all over the place, but it still has great response to where it’s crispy. And they are loud so they give you that blade noise lol

    Thx Jeff... nice video...those machines looks quite similar on bench and while priced similarly it is still quite difficult to decided between them.... I think understanding flight characteristics maybe useful but again I fear results will be 50:50 so probably it goes to parts availability.... I'm flying some SAB machines and my first experience with Goosky was S2 ... I'm still amazed by S2 .. after first flight it was clear S2 is game changer (there is something special in this heli).... obviously further success of Goosky is based on S2 reputation as many pilots were amazed by S2... when RS4 came out I pulled trigger and went for Venom version. I was kind expecting that S2 feeling but with bigger machine which was not the case ... Venom is great machine but not game changer ... It was clear later RS7 again is great machine but not game changer ... now I'm wandering is RS5 my dreamed S2 in bigger size :) I'm convinced RS5 and Orion are best machines in this class in 6s setup but seems they are "just" another two great helis ... or do you see it differently?

    • @westhobbiesrc8051
      @westhobbiesrc8051  День тому

      Both of these machines are awesome and they both fly extremely well. The only flight difference I could tell between the two is that the RS5 can take a lower head speed with more authority over the Orion. But other then that’s they are pretty dang close! I agree, the S2 was a game changer and it put them on the map the RS4 original I was never happy with. It was OK but nothing special. The venom was leaps and bounds better and I like it a lot, but it’s nothing different than every other 420 class on the market. The RS7 is one I never got connected with. Main reason I don’t fly it a lot. The RS5 felt almost perfect right from the maiden. In my opinion best Goosky since the S2. But of course, my all-time favorite is still the RAW 580! The 550/600 class helicopters are still my favorites.

I assume SAB will come with new 580 soon .... IL Goblin 580 which I believe will work very well 6s ... so kinda waiting now

    Only disappointment with the Tron is those awful decals and not having the option to use standard size cyclic servos. I'm fine with the nuts on the tail shaft, no need to buy their tool if you have a set of nut drivers or multi tool. From the original 5.5 to the new, they have always been my favorite 550 class machines. Hoping an updated version of the Dnamic will be coming soon.
    I can't comment on the Goosky because I have never owned one.

      @@westhobbiesrc8051 It's real easy....If you always flew without one for years , you don't know any different. . My older Align 500 has a yellow liperior battery that sits on the nose, so it is easy to recognize a yellow rectangle. Many modern helicopters have colored tails and black frames and white skids , so nice contrast everywhere. I care more about access than looks, plus everything stays cool in the wind and saves time on the ground. If any of my helicopters never came with a canopy, it wouldn't bother me. My Urukay will be flown without a canopy....total sacrilegious

      I completely agree......If you do normal flying or mild /moderate 3D, there is no reason to buy the latest and greatest unless you want to. Its like buying a 200 hp superbike that is razor sharp and you only baby it. and never go over 80. . 10 year old helicopters are way better than most pilots and the only issue is simply a matter of getting spares. Align is still a good option as they were hot for many many years and there are tons of align helis and parts all over the internet.
