I've heard of the words "Leas Leang" before. I thought this was a Khmer word to mean "remove and cleanse/wash". Did Khmer borrow the words from Bunong then or maybe it's a shared word from ancient times since Khmer and Bunong languages fall under the same Austro-Asiatic language family or am I thinking of a different Khmer word that sounds similar? My relatives told me that there was a law in Cambodia that was in place before the war that forbid marrying relatives which also applies to cousins. First and second cousins cannot legally marry. Only third cousins, people who share the same great-great-grandparent, and later are allowed to legally marry. I don't know if this law still exists in Cambodia.
All right, about the word Leas Leang, I'm not whose words; I just know when I film this video too. relative marriage law, I don't think the law still has effect. But for Khmer people now, I never heard they married with their relative.
