    Please share foods for improving platelet count.

    • @DrSusanBrown
      @DrSusanBrown  5 місяців тому +2

      While specific foods are not guaranteed to increase platelet count, incorporating nutrient-rich foods into your diet can support overall health and potentially aid in platelet production and function. Here are five foods that may be beneficial:
      Leafy Greens: Spinach, kale, collard greens, and other leafy greens are rich in vitamin K, which plays a role in blood clotting and may help support platelet function.
      Citrus Fruits: Oranges, lemons, limes, and grapefruits are excellent sources of vitamin C, which is essential for collagen formation and may help support platelet health.
      Berries: Blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, and other berries are packed with antioxidants and vitamin C, which can help support a healthy immune system and may aid in platelet production.
      Pumpkin Seeds: Pumpkin seeds are rich in zinc, which is involved in blood clotting and may help support platelet function.
      Lean Protein: Lean protein sources such as poultry, fish, tofu, and legumes provide essential amino acids necessary for overall health, which may indirectly support platelet production and function.
      Incorporating these foods into a balanced diet, along with staying hydrated and avoiding excessive alcohol consumption, can help support optimal platelet health. However, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional if you have concerns about your platelet count or any underlying health conditions. They can provide personalized advice based on your individual needs and medical history.

    • @DrSusanBrown
      @DrSusanBrown  Місяць тому +1

      Oats themselves are naturally gluten-free, but they can be contaminated with gluten during processing or handling. If you need to avoid gluten, look for oats that are labeled "gluten-free," which means they've been processed in a facility that avoids cross-contamination with gluten-containing grains.

    • @mattb7406
      @mattb7406 Рік тому

      fruit is not healing. fruit is sugar. the fiber is not needed and car be very irritating. in my opinion, after a couple months of strict diet, enjoy a handful of berries, nothing more. after several months, maybe a little fruit that is native to you and is in season. if it does not invoke addictive sugar cravings as it does in many addicts. some have to view as alcohol to an alcoholic. @@2r380

    • @DrSusanBrown
      @DrSusanBrown  Рік тому +8

      Hi Matt! We must remember that the sugar that is found in fruits is not the same sugar that is in processed foods.

    • @DrSusanBrown
      @DrSusanBrown  Рік тому +13

      Several fruits are known for their potential to promote gut health due to their fiber content, vitamins, antioxidants, and other beneficial compounds. Keep in mind that individual responses to different foods can vary, so it's a good idea to experiment and find what works best for you. Here are some fruits that are often considered beneficial for gut health:
      1. **Berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries, etc.):** Berries are rich in fiber and antioxidants, which can help support a healthy gut environment by promoting the growth of beneficial gut bacteria.
      2. **Bananas:** Bananas contain both soluble and insoluble fiber, which can contribute to a healthy gut. They also provide prebiotics, which are compounds that nourish beneficial gut bacteria.
      3. **Apples:** Apples are a good source of dietary fiber, including pectin, which can help support digestive regularity and provide food for gut bacteria.
      4. **Pears:** Pears contain soluble fiber and polyphenols that can have a positive impact on gut health. They also have anti-inflammatory properties.
      5. **Kiwi:** Kiwi is rich in vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants. It has been suggested to have a mild laxative effect and may promote bowel regularity.
      6. **Papaya:** Papaya contains an enzyme called papain, which can aid in digestion. It also offers fiber and vitamin C that can contribute to gut health.
      7. **Oranges:** Oranges are high in vitamin C and fiber, both of which can support overall digestive health.
      8. **Grapes:** Grapes contain resveratrol, an antioxidant that may have anti-inflammatory effects on the gut. They also contain fiber and other beneficial compounds.
      9. **Figs:** Figs are a good source of dietary fiber and can contribute to regular bowel movements.
      Remember that while these fruits can be beneficial for gut health, it's important to maintain a balanced diet that includes a variety of foods to ensure you're getting all the necessary nutrients. Additionally, if you have specific gut-related concerns or conditions, it's advisable to consult with a healthcare professional or registered dietitian before making significant changes to your diet.

      Hello,
      ELISA ACT testing, or Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay Antigen Leukocyte Antibody Testing, is a type of blood test used to identify and measure sensitivities or intolerances to various foods, chemicals, and other substances. It differs from traditional allergy tests that primarily focus on immediate IgE-mediated allergic reactions, as ELISA ACT testing is designed to detect delayed hypersensitivity reactions, which may occur several hours to days after exposure to a trigger.

    Thank you Dr Brown. I was diagnosed with AOSD. It has been nearly 2 months. Will ELISA ACT testing help in my case for identifying the trigger now?
    Also could you please tell what are the foods to avoid for AOSD patients?

    Is supermarket organic milk where animals are not given antibiotics okay?

    • @DrSusanBrown
      @DrSusanBrown  3 місяці тому

      Great question! While supermarket organic milk from animals not given antibiotics is a better choice, it's important to be aware that dairy can still be a trigger for autoimmune diseases in some individuals. For some, even organic dairy can be a trigger, so it’s best to monitor your body's response. Consider consulting with a healthcare professional for personalized advice. If you're avoiding gluten, then you can eat oats because they're gluten-free. The information she gave was incorrect. Just make sure the oats you buy say gluten-free on the package because sometimes there is cross contamination in the processing.

      Thank you for clarifying! Oats do not contain gluten. However, as you stated, they may not always be considered gluten-free because of where they are manufactured and packaged. We apologize for any confusion!

      Hi Marla! I am sorry to hear that. Generally, and anti-inflammatory diet consisting of many alkaline foods such as fruits and vegetables and minimal processed foods may benefit you, however it would be best to discuss this with your doctor. 💗 We are thinking of you!
