Thanks for bringing more memories back for me, as a boy working with my Dad on his model railroad, he would have Hank Snow albums playing on his record player. Nice rendition .... Thanks so Much, God Bless You.

@@michaelread3706 Hi Michael! Yes a 6 band EQ should be fine. I also forgot to mention that I used some subtle tremolo as well to enhance the tone that I never mentioned in the description. And the Dream 65 pedal that I used in that video is a bright sounding pedal too. Unfortunately I don’t own the Dream 65 pedal anymore though because I sold it to fund some other gear.
I also used Elixir 10-46 strings which are my favourite too because they retain a bright tone and hold up much longer than the regular uncoated strings. Hope this helps you out and good to hear from you!

hi must say what a lovely job you done of this tune great guitar picking, you have a great tone there on that guitar what pickups are you useing or is it purely the dream pedal and the eq would love to now how you have it all set up and what strings you sure do have a twang there all the best keep playing.

    • @guitareveryone

Hi and thanks for the kind words. I think the tone is a combination of all things here. The guitar is a Fender Mexican built Deluxe Players Stratocaster and it’s all stock. The stock pickups in that guitar are the early Fender Vintage Noiseless pickups that Fender used in these guitars at that time. The only mod that I may have made to that guitar is that the tone knob is wired to the bridge pickup so that I can control the brightness of that pickup. But I may not have even used the tone knob in this video.
The Universal Audio Dream 65 pedal is one of the big things for tone here. It’s a great Amp in a Box type pedal and I used the built in tremolo in the pedal. The EQ pedal is just a Joyo 10 band EQ pedal. I’m not sure how I had it set but most likely I had some extra punch added with the EQ. The guitar was plugged up into the EQ pedal and then into the Dream 65 pedal and then directly into my Presonus USB interface and into my iMac using GarageBand as my recording software.
It’s a long explanation but I hope this helps. Thanks for watching. Cheers!

@@guitareveryone hi thank you so much to take the bother to explain things its all interesting i just find some of the tones i here i think wish i could get that sound but also no that the way you pick the strings makes a big difference too,i was just looking at the vid again looks like your useing neck pickup also notice whats that white button inbetween the two tone controls ? i would like to no what that is sorry to bother you again cheers.

@@michaelread3706no problem! Feel free to ask whatever you like! You are correct, I’m using the neck pickup only in this video. That extra white push switch is there to provide two extra sounds if desired. Those two extra tones are the neck and bridge pickups together for that middle position telecaster type tone and the other sound is all three pickups at once which provides to my ears a more out of phase type sound but a little softer. However I didn’t use that switch in this video.
And yes my pick attack was very important to me here in this video. I’m moving my right hand in different areas of the neck to provide a different “feel” to the tone. Picking towards the neck and sometimes with a lighter attack to provide a more softer tone to certain phrases while other times I’m picking more towards the bridge and picking a little stiffer to provide more crispness and sting to the tone. I’m also plucking sometimes with my middle and ring fingers too in a hybrid style. There is so much tone available from just our hands alone with different picking techniques and how we phrase.
Hopes this helps and feel free to ask more questions if you like. I may have left out something that may have been very important to you so reach out if you need to! Cheers as always and I much appreciate your interest and support. Cheers!

@@guitareveryone wow thanks again for so much info i wish i could pick the strings like you do im 70 years old now and startd playing when i was about 8 allways trying to play like hank marvin but wish i mastered the finger picking i stoped playing for many years and started again about 10 years ago,you saying about the button for more sounds i have similar on a 84 tokai strat with kinman pickups and thats set up to blend in the neck with the bridge pickup,i also put blender control on a 2017 fsr fiesta red mexican strat with pickups that came with it,i did look at that dream peddal you use i tend to use amp for recording thses days i use fender tonemaster blond version digital of the 65 deluxe reverb has line out for recording its pretty good how that compares to a dream pedal dont no,im goin on a bit now but its great to talk about stuff not everyone wants to bother, anyway all the best to you and keep on picking im in the uk what part of the world are you. after allthat chat i meant to ask you what strings do you use ? cheers.

@@michaelread3706 Hi Michael. I sounds like you’re doing everything thing right with the gear you’re using and you should be just fine with the Tonemaster Blonde Deluxe Reverb. They are nice amps and I own the Black tolex version but I upgraded the speaker and did the mods to be like your Blonde version. I don’t record with it but I did use a Tonemaster Twin Reverb once through my computer and it recorded great and it does a great job with the XLR output and mic selections.
As for fingerpicking….I’m nowhere near as good as I should be. I’m good enough to get by I guess as they say to “get the job done”. I normally use a blue Herco thumb pick and fingers for fingerstyle guitar but I’ve gotten into using the plectrum and fingers a bit recently although I’m more comfortable using the thumb pick. It amazes me how great Albert Lee and all the great players are at doing that hybrid plectrum and fingers for that fast country picking.
I love Hank Marvin too. Big fan of his playing. And I’ve been listening to you play and you definitely have that tone and style down nicely. Try out the finger picking style yourself. It’s never too late! I’m 63 years old and I think about playing the guitar as if I’m 18. Lol. In fact I just bought a Boss looper pedal and I loop a chord or two and try to think up ways to play as many different things as I can over one or two chords to learn new licks and build my knowledge. I guess I appreciate playing as I get older more than ever. I’ll never be great but I play for the pure joy of what it does for me. And it sounds like you love it as I do and you’re sounding great.
As for strings my favourite are Elixir Optiweb or Nanoweb 10-46. Cheers and Hi from Newfoundland Canada!
