This is cool, I love listening to baseball games on the radio when I am in my car. After all of these years listening to a game on the radio hasn’t changed.
Babe was 39 years old at the time. He ended up with 22 HR's and batted .288. He played one more year in 1935 after the Yankees released him to the Boston Braves. He played in 92 games in 35 with 6 homers and batted .188. Ticket price was about $1.10 for the game. This was during the depression. I wonder how the fans got the money for the ticket and who was able to skip work for this afternoon game.
I hope that someday a recording of the 1933 ASG turns up. It was such a big deal and the Commissioner’s office was in Chicago, where the game was played, that I’d think it was recorded.
It sounded like there was talk of Ruth's retirement at the end of that season, 1934. He played one more year, for the Boston Braves. His home run total at the time of this broadcast stood at 699; he hit fifteen more.
Babe Ruth had made his major-league twenty years earlier, almost to the day, on July 11, 1914, as a pitcher for the Red Sox. It is said that, even if he hadn't been able to hit, he would have made the Hall Of Fame as a pitcher.
Very cool. Thanks!

Hall of Famer Frankie Fritsch both managed the Cardinals and played second base for the team.
I heard the name,Jack Russell mentioned. Was his name attributed to the breed of dog?
