Hey I got all my dad’s old fishing stuff. He had several 33’s. They were all gummed up so I tore them all down, cleaned them, and oiled and greased them. Now I have four or five older 33’s that are like new. Great video Chris.
My favorite reels I had growing up was Johnson Century. It would cast great and it held up to some nice Trout. I'll never look down on any reel someone is using. The way I see it is, at least their outdoors.

The fiancé hooked a bass a few weekends ago and now is bit by the fishing bug. Just got 2 4’6” UL rods with 2 Zebco 33 micro golds for small creek and streams as well as panfish. Just looking at them rigged up brings back memories.
Great video. Yes, brings back memories with my old metal 33's. I also had a sweet Diawa ultralight spin cast as a young teen. Caught everything on that thing with beetle spins, tiny Rapala, and purple fire tail worms.
Can't go wrong with a 33, a little tackle box with some split shots, a few hooks, and bobbers. Pair that with a container of night crawlers, a few root beers, and a big bag of beef jerky
Found a fishing magazine from about 8 years ago and it said the zebco 33 was designed in 1953 and zebco improved the design and it went in production in 1954.the magazine was dated 2004 the article said at that time 33s we're still in full production and they had made and sold over 8 million.if you haven't heard the original name of zebco was the zero electric bomb company they made explosives for putting out oil well fires. For Mother's Day, my DH surprised me with a new Zebco 33 Platinum, and he doesn't like fishing! No wonder I've stayed married to him for almost 50 years. Love the vid.
That does bring back momories for me to lol, I had all types of Zebcos. Those plus Johnson Centuries to lol even a Johnson guild reel, it was there new special reel at the time. I went around to flea makets with my folk and I would buy every zebco and Johnson reel i saw mostly for spare parts. I had a siut case full of old reels lol. I bought some special edition 33 combo for my wife and the drag was a mess. Never worked well until I took it apart and gave it a brake cleaner douche! Much better after that! Good video man.
I personally loved the Zebco 33 Rhinotuff, which aren't made anymore. I received mine as a birthday gift when I turned 10 years old. I used this specific reel from the age of 10 up until about the age of 35. Honestly one of the best reels I ever owned.
Possibly later. It’s gonna take some getting used to with these spincasts lol I got hands on a newer abumatic a few days ago and it felt pretty dang nice.
@@FishingWithChris_Tv Was it the red Abumatic 170? I have three because they were extremely nice and usually when I find something that works, they discontinue it!! 😂 For the fish that I catch, the spin cast reels are perfectly fine but really, I just love using the things.

I had to break mine out when I launched my boat in 30° weather. Able to use those with the thick winter gloves no problem

I still prefer the Zebco 33 (Platinum) and Zebco Omega Pro when fishing for panfish.
I still use these reels to fish bull head in my home lake eire
i use the 33 micro its my favorite ul jjigging reel with my ul shimano spinning ul combo
They are good reals for sure. I’d like to get my hands on some of the old Zebco reels.
