The Mario Savio Memorial Lecture features Christopher Hitchens in a free-wheeling discussion with author-journalist Adam Hochschild.
The topic of the lecture is "Fault Lines: Rights, Wrongs & Responsibilities in Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, Palestine, and The Nation".
@princemuqrin thanks for that. I've heard him say that a few times and couldn't find any reference to what it means.
Could not agree more. He was always brilliant, passionate and entertaining. Impressively often he also delivered compelling analysis. But IMHO he went wrong on invading Iraq. Predictably, it has done nothing for his case of curbing radical islam. He cared rightly and admirably about the Kurds but should have realized that they weren't part of the plan. And his "get real - it's essential to fight for oil" is refreshingly blunt but, well, bluntly unethical. Addiction doesn't sublimate aggression.
You can say it's territory. You can say it's religion. You can call it whatever you want. BUT, if you take an honest look at wars, none has ever been fought over anything but MONEY. Get honest.
smart dude bro. like seriously. hes too smart. he's like a genius bro. im serious bro.
@DonJulioBlanco2002 He places the blame upon both. Have you read his writing? Kissinger is just the most flagrant individual criminal.

He just doesn't understand what the definition of Imperialism is, the invading/attacking state has to gain more from the action. I would think that Bosnian Muslims and civilians in Kosovo gained more from not being killed than the U.S did. :)
Saddam has WMD's lulz. He was off on that one.
Great speaker, but I have to disagree about American imperialism and Kosovo.
@DonJulioBlanco2002 Which do you think is more likely; that Christopher Hitchens is naive, or that you're entirely and exactly wrong. Talk about making oneself look foolish...
