Musically speaking, from all the four Beatles Ringo was the most reliable on his instrument. Almost never messed up on a take or a live show. Super solid drummer.
+pse ga Lol no. George's early solos all sounded the same and weren't all that good a lot of the time
+pse ga George couldn't even play the solo on a hard day's night up to speed. he played it at a slower speed and then George Martin sped it up in the studio. eventually george became a fantastic musician, but even in the early days, Lennon referred to Harrison as a "kid" trying to play with the adults
+Ulises Calvo I believe Paul once referred to Ringo as a "machine" when it came to keeping time. One song I read he did have trouble with was Happiness Is A Warm Gun because of the timing changes.
I've heard that during all the albums they recorded, he only screwed up 12 times
***** sure, back then bands recorded without a click or metronome like today, also no editing, you had to have your act together and be good at it.
i've watched this so many Times that im actually starting to remember the song order
Dude same

Given how prolific and extensive the percussion was in Rain, the fact that you chose such a benign portion from the song seems like one hell of a missed opportunity to showcase Ringo's skill.
I thought the same thing. I didn't get that part either.
Felt the same :\
Well tbf it wasn’t about showcasing Ringo bc there were songs on here that Paul played drums on
thanks for reminding me of how much I love the beatles
+Singapore Sling
Same!♥

exactly. this brought me back to a lot of great songs ive forgotten.
Soo many good songs
This clip makes a good point. Ringo is probably the only drummer in the history of pop music to create memorable, catchy, inventive drum fills and riffs for almost every song he recorded. I'm not talking about style I'm talking about musicality, rather than simply providing a backbeat. The other obvious comparison I can think of is Keith Moon.
+Rex Mundi JOHN PHUKING BONHAM
Yeh. Him too, but atleast Bonham gets credit where it's due for his musical contribution to Led Zep. Ringo does not.
The best quote I ever heard about Ringo is that if you played only the drum part to any Beatles song, you'd still be able to name which one it is. That, is true skill and originality.
But Bonham = God
+Drake Holliday I hadn't heard that. Amazing.
Oh my god can we get a full cover of Yesterday? That was incredible
I see what you did there
Norwegian Wood is good too

This guy sucks. He is just banging away. Sounds terrible. Dingo was one of the best rock drummers. This guy gave me a headache. I had to stop the video after 3 minutes,
I notice you use Ringo's swing on the hat. It did make a unique sound. Also a simple basic drum kit. That's all that's necessary if you know how to use it.
Oh that's a Ringo thing? It really bothered me when I saw it on this video!
Bruh thats litterely what ringo had as a kit

The Beatles were so lucky to find Ringo - and they knew it. It's only now that I'm consciously appreciating just how good Ringo was - so many of these tracks I realise his drum parts and play were so recognizable and fitting.

You walked the scariest path on copyright here, brother
I'm not even a huge Beatles fan but its crazy just how many great songs they had!
+n00bis They are arguably the only band that had zero filler. All of their songs are good with perhaps revolution 9 being the only exception.
+JO. O Even Revolution 9 is great if you learn to listen to it.
+JO. O Revolution 9 is brilliant - if they have one bad song it's yellow submarine purely for the stupidity of it haha
+JO.0 Try listening to Revolution 9 in mono - for some reason it makes sense musically compared to the stereo mix.... At least I don't have to skip or endure it now. Food for thought.
+R Ray Clark Its just, I always felt like revolution 9 was just a sound collage of different stuff and not necessarily a real song per se and I feel like if it wasn't for Yoko it wouldn't have been included on the album. I do like the piano part of it but overall I think we can both agree that its the weakest Beatles tune.
"Rain" is the best Ringo's drums line! You just put 2 second of it!
No Joke. This is possibly one of the best videos on youtube... Great Job!

I'm a master drummer too. Just ask me to play Yesterday, Blackbird, Norwegian Wood, etc.
and back in the u.s.s.r. too
ninjaplaychannel it's a joke.....
doggo sammo Oh really? Tell me the News now
Back in the USSR
But ringo didn’t even drum for Back in the U.S.S.R.
He’s doing a really good job showing you how loudly Ringo played, by the way. Most of you probably miss this, but he’s purposefully hitting the drums very hard because that’s how Ringo played . It was just the style of the late 50s/early 60s drummers, and Ringo never changed from it. Drummers of that era probably played loud, I suspect, because there were only 4 and 6 track recording in the early 60s, so it was hard to mic up drums on recordings. So they had to play really hard to be heard on the song!
Drummers now play much much quieter, because of microphone/recording technology - sound engineers can capture their sound well, without the need to play loud. Which is one reason why drumming is also MUCH more complex now - because playing quieter is much easier, and allows you to play much faster. Whereas, the style Ringo plays (hitting his drums really loud!) is basically more difficult, and makes playing faster much harder.
0:59 ...and I'll cry instead---YOU CAN'T DO THATTTTT!!!
- me being emotionally unstable
I’ve just realised on how many great song the Beatles have
They had two musical geniuses in John and Paul, and George developed into a great song writer who outshone J and P towards the end a few times in terms of singles. The odds of having three song writers of such calibre in the one band are just phenomenal.
iamthepaulrus don‘t forget their amazing drummer!
Yeah this is a great reminder about that, every time he changes I think "oh please play the whole song"
So much effort put in Yesterday... Not to underestimate the overall performance ofc.
Hearing all these varied and perfectly placed drum patterns, breaks etc TRULY shows why Ringo is and will always be one of the best, most talented drummers in the world.
Everyone knows that the Beatles, even when they are not together they are still famous. They released way more singles than we could ever count. That was amazing how many they had. I'm amazed they did that in 8 years.
Absolutely brilliant and showing how important and brilliant a drummer Ringo was for the greatest band there has ever been.
It's crazy how quickly their lyrical compositions changed. You can pretty much pinpoint where they started experimenting with more meaningful lyrics by the start of Day Tripper.
+Blaze
As the foremost Beatlologist on the internet, (me) their musical periods correspond to the main drugs they were ingesting: early beatles: pills, amphetamines. Mid Beatle: pot/ acid and late beatles was coke and a dash of heroin (snorted not shot.)

The Beatles are forever!
Why did you choose that part from rain that song has the best drums in it
Someone mentioned down here that the drummer is a bit heavy-handed. Speaking as both a huge Beatles fan and a musician myself, I think the drummer here was right on the mark - he pretty much nailed Ringo's feel and touch. Just listening to the Beatles records, I know one could easily assume from Ringo's laid-back and slightly loose style that it's
played very delicately. I too used to think that. Until I studied his style a little closer. Like if you check the video of their 1964 concert at the Washington Coliseum - Ringo's literally bashing the cymbals and drums there - rather aggressive playing. Or if you read Mark Lewisohn's studio chronicle books, you'll realise that during the "Revolver" sessions for instance, Ringo had to really pound the snare and drums to get the tight drum sound on that record. Ask any professional studio rock drummer or producer, and they'll tell you the same. To get the tight solid drum sound, or for even the cymbals to break through in the final mix, generally you have to really lay into them.
Ringo was a lot more than just that style of course, and could play many different styles. But it's a misconception that he generally played very delicately. I think what some people might be reacting to in this video though is the sound of the drums, the way they're tuned.
Which is very different to Ringo's 60s tuning, making it a more modern sound, especially the snare. Ringo's sound or tuning didn't stay the same though, not even through the 60s. From '63 on he had his "classic" kit, which we see in the videos from their tour years, '63-'66. Although already in 1966, listening to "Revolver" you can definitely tell his sound is changing, with muting snare and toms with blankets. And the front head of the bass drum I believe came off around that time, filling it with cloth for a more compact sound. And during the "Abbey Road" album it sounds like he might've taken the bottom heads off the tom-toms, as they've got more of a timpani-like sound to them with more sustain.

Playing live with no monitors and all that screaming, my guess is this is pretty close!
Molde Fan hard agree. i think people are getting hung up on his faces and how modern the recording sounds. especially with the earlier songs. but ultimately he nailed it. yes the drums are louder than on the original recordings but thats just the nature of these kinds of videos.

How hard he was hitting the drums was fine, but his kit is sounds like it’s tuned for metal, with a punchy bass drum, low punchy toms, and a medium poppy snare. Ringo’s early kit was jazz tuned, with a more shallow bass drum, high toms and a very high tuned cracky snare. Kye’s tuning made his playing sound more heavy than it actually was
'Rain' is often regarded as Ringo's finest and most complex drumming but you chose the easiest part of the song lol!
How did you do this? Memorizing the track order, perfectly syncing to the tempo changes??? Astonishing! Bravo!
I taught myself to play drums by watching ringo
I think everyone starts by watching and playing Ringo beats
Same
Same!
Pure genius: the great drummer, the cinematography, the concept.....! Genius.
terrible!
Ringo Starr loves it
Mad Props, this is what it's all about...an ear and the chops to pull it off. Great job with the crew!
I come back to this video every night and I can't stop but I also don't want to stop.
@@danielbarbour6518 One of my favorite videos on the internet... Im with ya! :)
Still here 😊
Still here ☺️
What a good drummer you are
Yes he's good but not at The Beatles music imo
+Mister Paradise totally agree
Well The Beatles are The Beatles, don't think there ever gonna be another band like them. UNIQUE
Im disappointed every time each song ends !
I know, and they only gave each song four beats, right? I'd listen to ten minutes or even twenty and double the songs as well. They're all unique, and it's awesome to hear all of them in one sitting.
Ontario Guy I know that feel!!! Every time that I started to sing, the music ends..
same
he would have got blisters in his fingers if he played all the songs without ending in a 10 seconds
As a 69 year old Beatlemaniac since 1964, (and a Ludwig drummer since 1965) this video is awesome!!! Thank you!
Beatles songs are mysterious yet lovely
I seriously can't stop coming back to this video. He's amazing, Ringo would be proud
You’re talking like he’s dead lmao
What a band.....this highlights the extraordinary creativity of this group of individuals collectively known as the Beatles.
Excellent idea and superb performance capturing all the genius of the Beatles (and Ringo!). Well done and thank you man!
I love Ringo's drumming.
Back in the ussr, dear prudence and ballad of john and yoko are the best.
I see what you did there, very good. Paul McCartney drummed on all three.
Funny!
新しいニューフェイス rain, she loves you, she said she said. Three of his best
Too bad Ringo wasn’t on any of those tracks, but Paul would love the compliment
@@ehbenson2948 r/woosh
I like that he played a lot of songs with no drums, really shows how ringo was willing to hold back sometimes. As a drummer, I can say that's not always easy.
it's pretty easy to "hold back" went you aren't invited to the recording session.
He was probably out the back making tea, or having a cigarette, or being chased by groupies😂
In spite of the shortness of each clip... or maybe because of it... I never tire of this video. I wish I could give it thumbs up each and every time.
La cámara alejándose mientras suena Free as a Bird es excelente!!!! Good Perfect work!!!
Interesting and good work, but NOT the kind of drumming for Beatles songs. Ringo gave the songs the right beat and air to breath while this kind on drumming sounds overwhelming on them.
Still, a very good work and personally loved the whole concept and the Free as a bird ending.
I agree, and the ending was a nice tribute to the song that was a tribute.
DEMONSTRATION PURPOSED
brge15 its called cover
this is not a cover, its drumming over the originals. again, a great effort.
Agreed but the man just went with one tuned kit , which can not cover "Love Me Do" and "Rain". Also let us be honest Ringo could nail a groove on one take one BUT there were percussional additions that added that openness you talk about. The bridge in "a Day in the Life" has a whole collection of percussion and those were done a few notes at a time
Very cool! (I think Tomorrow Never Knows should have made the list, though)
+Stéphane Jose Also, Rain deserved a better part
+Stéphane Jose I think he was doing just the singles, but otherwise I agree.
+Stéphane Jose i love the beatles, but i hate tomorrow never knows, i dont know why
Agreed
ZER0 he wasn’t just doing singles he played a lot of songs off albums
I love how he hits cymbals like Ringo :))
I really love the swipe motion Ringo did on the high hat. Really enjoyed seeing you do it as well!!
Not quite my tempo.
LOL
Here were some preety good comments, but this one's the best. By far.
hahah u made my day ;D
Worlds best comment
Ringo may not be as attractive as John, Paul and George but he sure is good at pulling off some sick beats. On second thought can you do Queen?
Aimran Azman Yay! i was going to post a comment saying he should do a QUEEN one too!!!
Queen is a pretty great band
Aimran Azman Ringo was most popular man when he was in bealtes.
Because he was most popular beatle.
QUEEN IS KILLER!!!!! THAT WOULD BE SO AMAZING!!! I WOULD WATCH IT EVERY DAY!
Queen is really overrated, still great but there are better bands out there.
This shows how great a pioneer drummer Ringo was and is. Thank you for this (loved the fact that you included Yesterday, btw; shows Ringo knew his job).
because of this video, i've started listening to The Beatles in a regular basis THANKS
Mike Portnoy brought me here. Great stuff. Well done :)
Mike Portnoy sends his appreciation.
+Szabolcs Gergely Same here. Thanks Mike!
+Szabolcs Gergely If Mike Portnoy send me here it only can be great! Brilliant job on drumming, video and audio! Keep the shit up man :)
i love the beatles but i have no problem with the drumming. it's like kye is putting his own style into it
I think that is the point. Kye is not trying to out Ringo Ringo.. This is his interpretation.
James Thorn true
Congrats I’ve officially watched this video six times now! I love it so much!
i love that hes doing the ringo swing
Am I the only one thinking his feel couldn't sound less like Ringo?
+Pedro Petracco it sounds like shit. ringo isnt a hard hitter, he relied on dynamics and signature fills to make his sound. this kid just chose basic 4/4, 3/4 beats cause he either 1. sucks. or 2. doesnt want to challenge himself. I think its both
3Nerdy Ringo was far from a light hitter. Listen to the recordings from Hamburg and watch the concert in Washington. On record She loves you and day tripper are nuts just to name two. He was a pounder who knew about dynamics but a light hitter? No
+Pedro Petracco Your right, Ringo had that rock n roll swing for days
+middarklight well live is different, especially when the screaming fans were louder than the band.
+DRUMadam sure live is different but the overall assertion that he is a light hitter is flat out wrong. There were no screaming fans in hamburg (have you listened to that shit it's heavy as hell) and many of his drum tracks were just mixed lower than perhaps they could have been. peace out
I fucking love The Beatles!
ME TO DO MORE LIKE TWIST AND SHOUT LIKE IF DO MORE BEATLES DRUMING
Scott Campbell who doesn’t
Imagine being the neighbors or a random stranger walking and hearing like 100 beats in 5 minutes
Ringo used three drums: one high tom, one floor tom and a snare, along with a crash cymbal, ride cymbal and a hi hat. That's it. What a legend.
Did he not have three toms?
@@gravelly96 Nope.
@@lovetheliv Ah yes he only played live with two. I must be thinking of later on as he must have only added the 3rd tom when the band stopped touring because you can see it in the Abbey Road/Get Back sessions.
This must sound really cool to people who have never heard these songs.
It sounds great and I’ve heard all the songs 😄
At one point I didn't know their songs and I listened to this and yeah it was really cool. Then I listened to almost all their songs and it just got better lol
