I have a couple 25rd boxes of Rio 3x3 #1 buckshot. Might have to try out the monarch #1 buckshot over at academy as that's very available here at academy. I ain't to old, but I had to get away from 12 gauge as I can't shoot the 12 anymore since I tore my spinal cord. That's why I love my AR-15. It's legal in Texas, but there's some shotgun and archery only areas even during rifle season so I pucked up a 20 gauge Mossberg 500. I got it used in very good shape for $149.
I have a question Mr. Rush. As a Metalic reloader there is and optimum bullet weight to speed and knock down energy factor. IE 300 WSM 180 Gain bullet 3019 muzzle energy 3598 lbs of energy as and example. For 20 gauge what diameter pellet and powder and weight fits those perimeters??? In 2 3/4 20 gauge shells??? With respects to all ranges, and accuracy? I know that's a challenge. Just wondering. Your the go to man. Keep the videos coming.
My 29cal pellets from BP are stacking by 3's in a 3" Cheddite hull. 🤔 I can get 18 to fit, but the final crimped shells are just a hair long and I can't fit 4 in the magazine. If I back down to 15, there's too much head space to crimp. Any advice?
The .31 cal load is awesome I’ve been loading them in a 3” shell for a while with longshot. No idea why you can’t buy .31 cal buckshot in a 20 or 16 gauge factory ammo. .33 cal fits perfect by 2’s in a 16.
New subscriber here glad to see ya doing 20g would like to see more cause had to get neck surgery on 4 disks and my 12g still hurting to much also wanted to know why a 28g overshot card instead of a 20g overshot card really liking your channel so much I got me a # 1 buck 30cal Lee mold and going to try my hand at that thanks to you keep em coming and don’t forget about the 20g please
the only time i've used the Unique powder is in some 20 ga slugs. worked well! It's a fast powder best suited for lighter game loads or buckshot loads with a payload weight of around 1 oz.
I don’t have an 8 gauge, but I’m working on it. I have 10 gauge loading videos up to 3 ounces and 1200 fps on my channel. 16 pellets of .38 cal 0000 buck fits in a 10 gauge hull with an X10x and 1/4” fiber cushion wad.
It's gotten a lot better these days in availability. Especially when during COVID the 12 gauge and .410 disappeared 20 gauge got real popular!!! Now ammo is pretty abundant and cheaper than 12 gauge!!!
Old fart ? I’m 81 and still go out and shoot my 12 gauge shot guns yup have 7 of them . So guess your older than I am ? I just enjoy going out and having fun . Far a gun powder I have not had any problems getting what I need . As far as primers been very lucky finding then .
It'll lead foul your bore. I've used plastic from 2 Litre bottles when I didn't have any store bought wraps. Just gotta take from the straight part/no curve... Teflon is a really good wrap.
Wade, thanks for all the videos you’ve put out, you’ve helped me A LOT with my shotshell loading. But I wanted to put a word out on a hack I use for the CLUMSY LEE LEAD HARDNESS TESTER. Don’t know if you have one of those kits or not? But anyone that does, KNOWS how much of a pain it can be to read the scope at times. It’s shaky, you need a 3rd hand, etc. I’ve got a GENIUS FREE HACK that makes it a breeze! I take my LEE .452” bullet sizer die, the Lee HARDNESS SCOPE, Some TAPE, And a few ORINGS that fit on the scope. I place a few wraps of tape around the LEE SCOPE, to make it fit snugly into the .452” sizer die( or any die you can make work the same way), I place an ORING onto the top of the LEE SCOPE to help hold it in place( can use tape the same way), slide the Lee Scope into the .452” or other die, I place another ORING onto the bottom of the Lee scope, also to help hold it into place, screw the Sizing die into a press, use the V BLOCK tha comes with kit, place your lead sample, grab a light and Voila! A turret press makes this a seamless process, with the Lee Indenter die in one station, and the scope die into another. Just trying to get the word out on this simple hack, and save people some patience, time, and wasted money on building some contraption or buying something not needed. I’ve not seen anything similar on the YT, which is surprising because it’s so simple and any loader/caster should have everything needed on hand. Please feel free to use this as a quick video idea, with all your viewers, the word should spread like wildfire. Again thank you Wade for the help through my shotshell loading growing pains!
After more use, O RINGS aren’t needed at all with a .452” bullet sizing die. Just a few wraps of blue tape makes it snug enough to hold tight and protects both pieces from scratches.
Perfect timing Wade.. I'm getting ready Change up the die set on my Load all to do some heavy 20 and then I'm gonna run some 16.. 👌🏻👍🏻
I thank God. Right when I started out with shot shell last year, I found 2 lb of Blue Dot, and 2 lb of Herco at a gun show. $20 lb for all 4.
Dang! that was a deal...

@@cornerhighcountry6128 go with 15 and use an extra overshot card.
What kind of loads do you do in lead shot for pheasant hunting loads in 2 3/4 and 3 inch? 12 gauge

Tyler I just went and took a looksie at your chan and at a glance I already know I'm gonna like you. Lol 👍🏻
@@Oldmanwithagoldpan Thanks man. I mostly do videos on the less popular gauges or unusual loads.

Headed that way.
Nice! Lol I still have some old Bullseye by Hercules!
Do you ever load with Unique, Wade? I bought a bunch of it when it was cheap.
This was a fun video.

@@theshotgunscientists Are you an old fart yet?
@@theshotgunscientiststhat's a shitload of destruction!!!
The #1 20 gauge buckshot I have claims to throw it at 1345fps probably more than enough I figure. I need to get out and throw it over a chronograph.
20 gauge , the bastard round.
It's a very unique round I like it that's what I rock with it was passed down to me and 20 gauge it is

I like that I can buy 25rds of 20 gauge #1 buck for 13.99. You will pay more for 10rds of 12 gauge buck than that!!!

Hi i would like too know can i shoot 00 buck out of a xx full choke in 12 gage 28 in shotgun???
Yes... you can!
👍👍
how about green dot will it work like blue dot
no... Green dot is a lot faster than Blue dot. You need the slower burning powders in 20 ga. like: Blue dot, Herco, Longshot,
🤔🤔👍👍
If you left off the Mylar wrap, how would it do?

Wade, youtube won't like you saying 'farts' on the videos. It is not the sound thats the problem it is the aged odour
