Drawing/Painting Errors: Fixing Your Mistakes

Making mistakes is a part of the painting process, learning to see what’s wrong and how to fix it are a big part of that process. Here’s a commission I worked on this weekend that showcases the error I made, then the revisions that helped fix it (I hope!). Always be willing to rework your work 🧑🏽‍🎨
How to see your mistakes, some suggestions:
1) Sleep on it. After you paint for the day, get away from the work and come back to it later.
2) Take a photo. Looking at your work on your phone or computer may show you things you didn't notice while painting it.
3) Look at the painting in the mirror. This is one of the most valuable ways to see right away if there are issues in the drawing. It's how I spotted this error after I felt that something was wrong but didn't know what it was. Seeing it in the mirror brought out the issues immediately!
