Parkitect Campaign (Part 19) - Hickory Hill - Alpine Village

- One of the most challenging scenarios according to general reception, Hickory Hill is a poorly operating existing theme park with some widely dispersed rides, prohibited from building anything above tree height.
...Time to build a whole alpine village and then figure out if I can somehow build some rides to make the park profitable later.

Fun fact, many medieval buildings were cantilevered because properties were measured by area of the ground floor, so builders would build a smaller ground floor and a larger second floor, and in some extreme cases, an even larger third floor. It became quite the danger, and in London may of helped make the great fire as deadly as it was

Dude, you made such a beautiful park, with all those complex buildings, so pretty! When I beat this park, I basically just spammed stuff until the decoration rating was okay, cuz I got too frustrated after a while.
The funniest part is that that park you scrapped would have made me really proud if I had made it myself, lol.

Yeah lol, Connecticut has... shall we say, very little to entice visitors that you can't get elsewhere, so it's nice to hear someone acknowledging one of like, five good unique things we have.
@@marinary1326 I mean, it depends on what you find interesting too. We have places for amusement park seekers, gamblers, historians and military buffs, foodies, nature seekers. You just need to do research is all.
I recently bought this game along with Taste of Adventure during the Steam Sale and I've been loving it! Thanks Silv for getting me into this game!
I almost wonder if it would be a good idea for Parkitect to introduce some sort of mechanic which allows for terrain to be raised or lowered only a certain amount below it's starting height. Say, terrain could be moved 1 tick up in this park, or maybe 5-10 ticks down. This would allow for valleys to be created for coasters to pass through while not allowing for the terrain height in the park to be raised much to allow for taller coasters. You'd also have to do something to make sure you couldn't adjust terrain down below a certain height below coaster track in scenarios like this.
So glad you're keeping this series going. Gives me a lot of ideas on how to go about making my buildings and parks!

If there is another alpine/hilly themed park, could you build an alpine coaster? I know that they’re not too profitable but they fit the theme so well - and I’d love to see how you’d theme/dress up one of them. Even if the ride isn’t essential and is just a finishing touch to the park it would be cool to see one!

Definitely! I forgot to mention, this video was recorded with Taste of Adventure out, so I used some new pieces already.
So this scenario is essentially Alton Towers with regards to height limits.

I think it’d be awesome if you made more coasters, like the spinning coaster, that go in and out of bulidings or tunnels.

Since there is no Planet Zoo and certainly no PlanCo videos of you anymore, I had to watch this one (wink). But it was also quite nice with all the hyperrealism elsewhere.

I like the "patched" paths better than your "twill" design. The latter looks annoyingly synthetic to me, and rarely fits in with the setting.
I don't understand this game at its core. It's a roller coaster tycoon but with decoration as the main game mechanic. The game can't give you feedback on aesthetic and the mission based structure hide the work you've done before. Optimization and beauty are two opposite goals which make this game unfocused. But I never played it so I can't really tell if it plays well.
