- The background music that loops during the interrogations in L.A. Noire was not included on the game's soundtrack. This isn't a direct rip of the sound file from a copy of the game, which would be ideal. Instead, I attempted to reconstruct the track as best I could. I found a High Definition video (HD UA-cam videos have a possible audio bitrate of 256kb/s) of someone conducting an interrogation in a quiet environment, including a very long pause between dialogue. I cut out the part I wanted and used Sony Vegas to loop the sample and crossfade it to make it sound smooth. The music gets louder after every answer given by the subject, so I tried to implement that by raising the volume noticeably at certain points.
It's been years since the game came out, and to my knowledge nobody has uploaded a better version of this. I would like to see someone upload a rip from the game's files as I mentioned earlier, but until then, this is what we have.

I love how such a tiny thing as ambience makes the game so much more alive.
Thus ambience has:
-sounds of rustling clothes
-sounds of rustled paper
-long, relaxing wave
+Sir Cheddar And the sound of rustling jimmies as you get an answer wrong.
Not to mention the more questions you ask and the more you put the screws to your subject, the louder it gets.

This single note makes L.A. Noire unique in it's own right.
Yup, it's one of the most simplistic impactful pieces I've heard given the context. The crushing weight of grief on you while you interrogate the potential killer.

The composer is at their workstation with writer's block, just fiddling with their tools, and they hold a key down. One of their colleagues walks by and noticed. They say, "hey that's an interesting sounds. Maybe you can use it in for a section of the game."

It's interesting how complete, and effective a tune can be when it's as small as one note-less is more in this case.
This is what motivates you to go on with the interrogation, especially when you get the answers correctly, this music runs so deep into your neurological system, it's a crazy mental game. Congratulations for everyone involved in the making of L.A. Noire, one of the best games of the 21st century.
