- Today we will discover one of New Yorks most exciting urban parks, The High Line. Stretching 1.45 miles through the Meatpacking District and Chelsea along the west side of Manhattan, the High Line is one of New York’s newest-and most innovative-green spaces.
The park is built along an elevated railway 30 feet above the ground, the High Line weaves between buildings, offering vistas of the city and the Hudson River that are by turns dazzling and intimate. Throughout our walk, you’ll spot food and gift vendors, an array of public art, and year-round gardens inspired by the plants and grasses that once grew wild on the abandoned tracks.
As we continue our stroll above the city, watch a New Yorkers lounge in the sun, then later gaze up at the brightly lit Hudson Yards.
The High Line stretches from Gansevoort Street to 34th Street in Chelsea along Tenth Avenue, curving west to Twelfth Avenue around the Hudson Yards development at its northern end. Entrances every few blocks along its length lead up to the park.
It can get crowded, but trust us, this is the best walking tour of The High Line.

This is the best tour of the High Line we've ever watched. Thanks for sharing
Wow, thank you!
What a wonderful tour. Always such amazing sunsets and attention to everyday beauty.
I'm so glad you came along for the tour. There is so much going on, from the exposed tracks, the movable seating, and of course all the natural vegetation seeded from the original site.
This is one of the most beautiful parks in the world!!!
A really good place for a smoke 💨
@@4KWorldWandering smoking is illegal on The High Line. If I see you smoking a cigarette I'll get a parks person to give you a ticket.
We used to do things up there before it was The High Line.
Nice video, amazing beautiful walking, thanks for sharing 👌
Thanks for visiting
Amazing views ~
We really get to see some of the cities best public vistas and vantage points from the High Line.
Amazing
Thank you! Cheers!
Tremendous idea for a linear park. NYC for the Win
We agree!
Originally it was a train line and the last thing to be transported before it closed was frozen turkeys in 1980.
You should add a point A and point B with an address at the beginning and end of the video like the trip computer in a car/GPS. Add checkpoints along the way and then measure the distance . Damn
2:06 that man was very tall ! wtf jajaj!
haha probably Dutch lol
I'm 6'6½", you're just very short and I'm Sicilian.
The High Line is a wonderful addition to the Chelsea area I live on 22nd and 10th Avenue. While everyone is welcome this is my home. I have gotten four people ticketed for having dogs up there illegally. You are allowed to have a service dog no pets no bicycles or anything. Plus it is a public park funded privately. I used to smoke you want to have a cigarette go down to the street and have one this is not your ashtray.
Once I was with a friend and two women walked by and called us faggots. Without pause I said to them where do you think you are? This is Chelsea this is gay central I'm a resident here and you are a guest if you can't behave like a guest then you shouldn't be here and unlike a straight man I will hit you.
It is beautiful, it's an excellent idea, but it looks quite crowded (victim of its own popularity, I guess).
Yea it does get rather crowded ... a good problem to have.
@@4KWorldWandering not a good problem.
@@4KWorldWandering plus you learn when to go and when not to go. Someone once looked at London Terrace and called it public housing I straightened them out real fast I told them it was built in 1930. Occupies the entire block the four corner buildings are condominiums and the central area are residential rentals it has a olympic size pool it is anything but public housing. I wish I could live there.
In 50 years, likely less, no one will know you ever existed. Take your meds and calm down.
