7:23 For the Ronin ballistic helmet, while the idea is really cool... is it just me, or does it look, *flimsy*, especially the gaps between things like the cheek plates (the white part), seem a bit on the *thin* side for protection. Also the ease with which the cheek plate and such seems to come of with also seems a little concerning, will it be able to reliably remain on the helmet during combat? Will the the gaps in the individual plates still be good enough if a bullet happens to impact one of those spots? What are the plates rated for, and what about the white gaps? What are they rated for? Is the built in toxic gas filter able to properly work, as in does the helmet have a proper seal while it is on the head to make sure that toxic gas can't just come into the helmet through gaps such as down by the neck and even possibly between some of the detachable plates?
Demotion ranch tested this helmet if you want to see the results. In case you just want to know, the helmet was able to stop bullets up to 44 Magnum. The two big weakness of it are that the attach system make the helmet easily detach from the head after a shot on the side or above, and that the lenses are not bullet proof (lead buckshot shotgun shell was able to go through) From the same channel, you would be better protected by a standard army helmet + bulletproof face mask + large bulletproof glasses (all test are in the same channel)
Downside on full face helmets like this is your peripheral vision is usually cut off. Which is a big thing to have in combat due to situational awareness.
A lot of cool concepts but many of these are also pretty impractical. Like the Ronnin helmet most likely cuts your peripheral vision so your situational awareness is decreased. Exoskeletons would probably find only use on base never in actual combat scenarios. Plus military also has a budget. Special suits would primarily be for special operations never for standard infantry.
The ronin helmet does not cut your peripheral vision as much as you'd expect. because of how close it sits against your eyes, your vision is practically unimpeded. For example, if you look through the middle of a small washer from an arms length away, you won't be able to see anything through that hole. But if you bring that washer right up against your eye, you'll be able to see as if the washer wasn't there.

First suit: While it may offer additional protection from the Gen IV IOTV currently in service, using lithium ion batteries that are exposed for the power seems very iffy to me. In general, I don't think this suit would retain energy for long enough for a real engagement. It would become a box of rocks smothering your body in what, an hour? Replacement batteries in arid conditions would be even more concerning. Second suit: I don't give a shit if you make a suit that is completely impenetrable to all explosives. Those 'mines' are nothing more than fireworks. If they were actually dangerous explosives, she'd need to be wearing four or five hundred pounds of equipment or she would be sent skyward. At best it's a fireproof suit and we give those to firefighters already. The third arm could actually be useful. I have a lot of issues using support-level weapons in anything other than a prone supported position. That shit is so heavy that your arms just shake when it's not popped on cover. Fourth suit: Definitely a kickass design. The arm plates would probably be 9mm at best, but having as much coverage that can tightly and comfortably fit to the skin as possible is generally good. Everything with a battery concerns me. The helmet seems like a huge waste of time, but armored boots might be a new modern. Exoskeleton: Same concerns with first/second suit. Lithium ion is an issue. Maybe new phosporous batteries will be less dangerous? Ronin helmet: Seems like an unacceptable loss of peripheral vision. I agree that current helmet technology is rather outdated--but unless we can seriously reinforce our necks/spines, a 7.62mm would probably break your neck if it domed you anyways. Cracks ribs through plates already. African suit: Almost certainly a hoax. Funny as shit though MWD goggles: What a good boy Battleskin: Might be more useful than the Ronin. The stress point seems to be better placed near the temples--but I have no clue what testing it's gone through for stress points. Still would need neck protection. Source: Total arm chair expert I'm joking, I've been overseas on deployments before and while I'm no speshul operations I've been through my fair share of unwelcome explosions

Daamir Bassanas look I know that armor and vehicles are not the prettiest thing to look at compared to a standard U.S non Weaponized jeep. But at least its a start.
I wish I could acquire a few of these and merge the really practical aspects into one unit. Very VERY kewl stuff. Some of them would help in overcoming my mobility issues.
With that attitude they might just go back to swords, because you know, guns can jam or sometimes even blow up. These are just prototypes for now. But they have to start somewhere in order to develop it more. In 20 years, it will probably normal. Especially with how technology has become more compact and smaller while becoming more reliable and more powerful.
There's also liquid filled body armour tech now, it allows full coverage for joints offering mobility (knee's, elbows and neck) w/4A protection. That with solid Armour covering center mass and head (helmet, face) is pretty cool. Not to mention the nano cloth you could use to fabricate it all together. Then add an exo skeletal power armour and shit you have Superman's. And its only as much as an F-22 per single soilder...lol

For the Ronin ballistic helmet, while the idea is really cool... is it just me, or does it look, *flimsy*, especially the gaps between things like the cheek plates (the white part), seem a bit on the *thin* side for protection.
The two big weakness of it are that the attach system make the helmet easily detach from the head after a shot on the side or above, and that the lenses are not bullet proof (lead buckshot shotgun shell was able to go through)
From the same channel, you would be better protected by a standard army helmet + bulletproof face mask + large bulletproof glasses (all test are in the same channel)
Downside on full face helmets like this is your peripheral vision is usually cut off. Which is a big thing to have in combat due to situational awareness.

Um we got 99999999999999999999999
Idk. Command says its 999999999999
We can all agree there over 9000!

First suit:
While it may offer additional protection from the Gen IV IOTV currently in service, using lithium ion batteries that are exposed for the power seems very iffy to me. In general, I don't think this suit would retain energy for long enough for a real engagement. It would become a box of rocks smothering your body in what, an hour?
Replacement batteries in arid conditions would be even more concerning.
Second suit:
I don't give a shit if you make a suit that is completely impenetrable to all explosives.
Funny as shit though
MWD goggles: What a good boy
Battleskin: Might be more useful than the Ronin. The stress point seems to be better placed near the temples--but I have no clue what testing it's gone through for stress points.
Still would need neck protection.

In the explosion, the shock wave is the least threat - the main threat is the fragments.

The problem with suits that have a lot of gadgets , more things to go wrong at the wrong moment.
Someday, our armies will be equipped with skin tight power ranger outfits.
