Thanks guys for your excellent content, wonderful knives you have recommended in this video. I hope you review the Aitor Ferfal and the Nieto Chaman XXL, also the Eafengrow EF-137 knife. Greetings from Costa Rica, Pura Vida.
I can’t argue with any of these choices, but every time I head out in the woods, I find myself grabbing my Skrama (which I bought based on DBK’s recommendation) with an old-ass Mora classic strapped to the sheath. Sometimes I wonder why I even spend money other knives, because they mostly just sit there looking cool and irritating my wife.
Can we get a jelio puukko vs a malanika puukko? You say they're both on par with each other but it would be interesting to see both of them go toe to toe against each other, just an idea.
White River Firecraft 5 inch model out preformed pretty much every knife I have. I have LOTS of knifes, super steels, Russian, Moras, Swamp rat, Arizona knives, cold steels, sweeden knifes. It just has the right weight and strong body.
Martin your right...just because Micky loves that knife dont let him..talk you into picking what he likes. i think the Knife Martin had was better looking...we have Different taste..Mikey he likes that smaller Knife and he likes Men...thats his Choice and his Taste
No lionsteel T5? Have you guys ever tried it? It is sold out everywhere and people seem to love it in all the comments where they have bought it. Can you make a review on it?
Thanks so much for what you guys do. There is a lot of nonsense in the knife-space out there, but you guys are just here making quality content about quality knives without any of the bs. Thanks
6:50 I've said it before, I think. The Hultifors GK is the very best budget knife you could invest in. The problem with me is that I'll buy 4 to put away in places where a knife would be handy, such as a toolbox, glovebox, backpack, first aid kit etc. Then I end up giving them to people who haven't had a useful knife. Then I have to buy more. But hey, it's worth hearing people talk about how handy the GK is.
I do the same but with Cold Steel Knives I buy them for people depending on what I think they would need doesn't cost me a lot and I think it's funny because they say I don't need to carry a knife but after I buy them one they say I use it all the time lol

I found for myself the Cold Steel Bushman has been my one a.p. blade taken on camping and overseas trips. For long term survival I would bet my life on it!
A tip for the some viewers: COS and Elmax are nice steels, but not really as tough as 80crv2. For sure, the latter is often softer, but not as brittle. If you want a heavy user, consider this option. Do not fall for prestige.
80crv2 is damn sure some tough steel. If you plan on really cranking on it well done 80crv2 will take what you dish out.. 52100 will hold its own as well.
Hahaha yes another classic form you lads , I love it when you two can’t stop having little laughs at each others expense. That cigars and hat is a classic example not to mention the beautiful quality knifes that you both give and take ground on . Highlight of this video Maarten letting out his impression of a lion stuck in his guts that just stopped you Mikkie in your tracks😂, nothing like a bit of gut thunder to stop things dead lol. As always you two lads have a cracking weekend on the way and most importantly of all stay safe and healthy. Catch you both on the next one 🫵😘👍
I've bought more knives after watching your videos than any other time ever. You always influence me to get new knives. The two I still don't have is the Bark River and the Fallkniven F1.
I dont know of im the only one but there feels like a little bit of tension between yall. I hope its just me or a rough day but yalls friendship is probably the most wonderful part of this channel and i pray everything is well for each of you in your lives. Still really enjoyed the video and i have no idea how to pick a "best" anything. Lol anymore for me its easier to just pick my favorite. Cheers guys, thanks for another great vid!
Thank you so much my friend! No friction between mikkie and I at all 💪 but it's good to be able to have the discussion on video. It always helps getting eachothers perspectives . Thanks a lot and stay sharp!
My best EDC blade is a Williams Blade Design SZK005 made by TRC knives, and TRC is absolute quality, and the best sheath, and hard use knife is my winkler crusher belt knife with rubber grip, or my TOOR field 2.0. I also carry my Half Face Blades combat dirt nap with a SEAX blade in MAGNACUT!
I noticed when you talk about knives for survival you never mentioned the hunting factor. Its ability to pierce like a spear or defence against animal attacks. The tip has to play a pivotal role insurvival. So, as far as getting food, how does the extreme Horacio knife player role in acquiring food for survival? Also, I’d like to see future videos on using knives to acquire food for survival.
My € 12 Mora Pro S has opened hundreds of carboard boxes, I also used it to remove the leather from an old couch and other odd jobs, good enough 'around the house/allround' knife for me
Bought at least 10 knives bcs of these two. NL5, Apocalypse, Vivalranger, Shard by Käse Knives, Spydercos, Lionsteel, Sandrin Torino Carbon at 71 HRC. Idun still the prettiest, agree. 🍻
You guys need to review some of the outstanding knives made in Spain, Italy and China --yes, I said China "Eafangrow" survival, hunting & EDC knives w/ premium steel and micarta handles. Spain: Joker & Celitbro, and Italy Lion Steel. Many of these knives are under $100 USD, full leather or kydex sheaths and fire steel included with some. I have plenty of US Made handmade, custom knives, and a number of Bark River Knives. The quality coming out of Spain, Italy and China is truly outstanding.
I have the adventurer CSHF. It’s a full tang, robust, and hard to destroy. It came very sharp out of the box. I have it for soon two years and it comes with me outdoors every time. It likes catching rust, and I treat it with olive oil, also for the handle wood. It is a natural and living knife that needs a relationship with the owner. When I got it, the price was 30-something. Now, I see it’s 46. I did not make much use of the flint, as I would have my Maratac lighters do the fire starting job. The flint is definitely the weaker part of the set as the flint’s wooden handle separated at some point (easily fixed with some proper glue). The leather sheath is superb, and I would actually remove the flint - who makes fire with it nowadays if you are seriously into outdoors? My favorite knife is a Marttini puuko though - paid loads of money for it compared to the Ukrainian, but it’s so aesthetic, though I would not trust stressing it to the level I would the Ukrainian. Marttini is a beauty, but the Ukrainian is so all-around practical and priceworthy.
Hey guys for the first mentions you guys forgot to mention that the falkniven A1 has a shiny reflective surface which is a advantage for survival knives since it can help you get spotted in a pinch. I'd say its slightly better for survival for that reason.
G'day Guys, you did cover some rippers there. The biggest bone of contention IMO is a bean handle "Puukko" as a "top" design in the world, or otherwise, for that matter. Sure, they're designed more for lateral force, rather than stabbing/piercing, however I reckon some sort of guard or at least some contouring to avoid slipping up onto the business end is a very worthy addition ; ) You cant rely on the the back two fingers against the palm swell to stop a nasty engagement up front. Personally, I went for a Terava 140, but even a Mora Companion gives you something in this respect. Stay safe you blokes. Cheers Duke.
OMG, U guys kill me with that awesome Dutch humor... Yeah I do the Coldsteel 4max scout in AUS 10 for almost all my bushcraft etc needs... Luv AUS10 and you guys keep up the great reviews... I would luv to drive on those Dutch roads and Dutch Gals... :)
You guys are well, okay, in my book. But when it comes to knives, every one who is a knife guy/collector is going to have there top five. The Mora HD Companion is in my top five. As for the other four, with as many knives as I have, that will be hard to figure. P.S. I've been collecting knives since the mid 1980's. And I have LOTS of knives, sheath and folding. If I knew I was going to have to chop and batton wood. I would use my Condor Tool& Knife, Hudson Bay, or the Moon Shiner. Both of which are well made and inexpensive. We can't all afford 200+ dollar knives. I don't have a single knife that cost over 200 dollars.
Fun video boys! I like these top5 videos because you guys seem genuinely trying to include your favorite knives LOL I don’t even care if you’re biased because I just want you guys to include knives you genuinely like and use. What you guys can do for the future is have two top 5 lists one for each of you whack a doodles LOL
Best EDC: TRC South Pole (2. TRC Pohlheim, 3. TRC Classic Freedom Full Flat), best bushcraft knife: Bark River Aurora Scandi CruWear (2. Brisa Enzo Trapper 115 Elmax Scandi, 3. Bark River Bravo 1), best chopper: Bark River Ja-Nap / TOPS El Chete (2. Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri Plus 3V, 3. Bark River Bravo 3), best allround big kinfe: Fällkniven Moderne Bowie / Cold Steel Trailmaster 3V (2. Fällkniven Thor, 3. Mission MPK-S A2), best survival knife: TRC Apocalypse / Lionsteel T6 K490 (2. Busse Forsaken Team Gemini, 3. Bark River Trakker), best tactical knife: TRC Mille Cuori / Spartan Blades Harsey Difensa (2. Microtech Socom Alpha, 3. Acta Non Verba M311 Spelter), best dagger: Acta Non Verba M500 Anthropoid (2. Spartan Blades George V14, 3. Fox Knives Bellum Daga), best karambit: Bastinelli B.A.K (2. Microtech Bastinelli Iconic, 3. Bastinelli Kalinou), best backup knife: Benchmade Adamas 375-1, best neck knife: Spartan Blades Enyo S45VN etc.
I would like to see the TRC Apocalypse released with a blaze orange sure touch and textured handle , and the overall dealbreaker it is making the full convex Grind. Let’s see another DBK Edition Release!
Now that you are are knife designers and producers, have you tried doing knife by yourselves? I mean, i just finished Brisa Trooper DIY kit, and realized it wasn’t that easy as they make it look in a video. Basically its only connecting handle and blade together and honing the handle as you like, but you should try it anyways. After that you torture it and make video.
A survival knife may include combat,, that HUGE Extrema Ratio is NOT a fighting blade. It would also need more of a point for game processing. (Depending on the game that is)
Please test an LT Wright Genesis and GNS! They will give that bark River a run for its money! The GNS would be a closer match to the bark River Aurora.
@@hanktheknife4352 white river website. Ursus cub and the sheath even come with a ferro rod loop and rod all for $200 which I think is a great deal for magnacut. Also it’s at 62-63rc which is perfect
I don't know if the best, most elite, and extremely durable blade in the entire world made your list. It's a three way tie for first, best, and last knife you'll ever need. The brand is: SOG TECH #1 SEAL PUP KNIFE, #2 SEAL TEAM STRIKE KNIFE, #3 SEAL SURVIVAL KNIFE. THE FOLLOWING KNIVES ARE THE MOST ELITE EVER.. THEY ARE MADE TO SAVE YOUR LIFE & TAKE THE LIVES OF ALL YOUR ENEMIES. TRULY THE ABSOLUTE BEST EVER...
I really like these guys to tell me what is the difference between survival knife and a bush craft knife? Funny thing ive been to many different survival schools even a adventure school. We were taught wilderness survival. Some how youtube and knife companies marketing department decided survival is different from survival skills. One of the first skills learned was making a saw. Everyone always carried saw blades. Nowadays we have folding saws. I don't believe anyone needs to spend more then $150 to have a amazing knife. Master hunter 3v Bps adventurer Srk-c Mora Garberg I would be willing to depend my life on anyone of those. The master hunter is the most expensive still around $100 I wouldn't take advice from guys that have never really used knives for a outdoors adventure. Hard to sharpen is important. Especially if your in the middle of nowhere and lost your diamond stones. These guys use knives in their yard. Sharpening isn't a issue
The Skrama 240 makes a better Survival knife, as survival is getting back to civilisation. If the choice was for an Armageddon knife then the Extreme Ratio has merit. Budget knife then it can't be the Hultafors as they break too easily, and cheap isn't a good enough reason. Any of the Taravas are just a better knife and more cost effective long term. For the rest it comes down to personal choice. The retro look is to me just Grandfather's knife; I want something a little more "modern" in style, finish, and metal.
Selvans vs A1 seems a silly comparison. If I want to pack a 320 mm long knife - I'll get the A2... and if I want to carry a 430g knife - I'll get the Trailmaster. Test that overpriced Extrema Ratio against those blades, or refuse the promotion money next time...
I know you guys dont want to be bias. But DBK knife all the way baby! The Viper Lille 2 is an awesome fixed pocket knife for me. And Im actually digging the TRC Polheim I just got. After that the other 2 for me is a toss up because there are too many good knives out there but those 3 are my go to knives. I guess if I had to add best folder. Im gonna go for benchmade. I got no specifics on which ones. I just know if I have to get something that wont bend into my fingers like Cold steel did. Benchmade because its locking mechanism similar to a safety for some guns. And if I had to have no knife but an small axe or tomahawk. It would be the Wengar Wiglaf. Off topic. Something that hasnt really been added to the show though is Flitz anti corrosion. That stuff really protected my carbon steel knives from the harshest conditions for weeks and sometimes months. Also takes out a good amount of rust too in the process. Even though its non toxic and be a bad taste if used right before food prep.
You can't compare a Benchmade folder to a Cold Steel the Cold Steel knife smashes it all day way stronger lock. Can you explain to me what you mean by it bends into your finger? I'm not understanding what you mean and I'm curious I have a lot of Cold Steel folding knives and love them over most knives.
@@travisconrad5035 Yes I can compare because its my experience. BS had cold steel bend on me. Like legit it bent on the closing because the lock failed. And got cut twice. Because of that. Yes it was from hard use and eventually the lock became weak on 2 deployments in Iraq. But never had that with Benchmade (All USA made). Your asking cause you cant comprihend your bias. As for me. I used to love Cold Steel. Yes it has faults. Your probably gonna fight me on this which is fine. I stick to my guns. And you stick to yours. This is my experience. Im sure there is videos on both Benchmade and Cold Steel with failed locks. So dont even bother cherry picking. Done with my replies. Im sure your not gonna agree still but I dont care. Im moving on instead of wasting my time with a stranger. You should do the same.

I’m not convinced a Jelio or a Malanika is any degree better than a Terävä Jääkäripuukko, I’d bet money on it.
Agreed
get one in k390
They are completely different!! The Malanika and Jelio will do a WAY better job at carving! But are way less tough. Cheers!
I AGREE TOO
Going “Back to the Future” to Idaho...We don’t need roads, all we need to survive is our Buck 110’s...lol

Awesome look with the hat and the cigar!!! 💯
Extrema ratio suvival has no point which is a fundamental flaw if you only have one tool...

The best knife is the knife you want to have with you every single day!! NL5 is wayyy better than apocalypse
Maybe the best all round knife is the Bark River Gunny LT in Magnacut.
I look forward to Thursdays. These make my week.
I would like to see the TRC Apocalypse released with a blaze orange sure touch and textured handle , and the overall dealbreaker it is making the full convex Grind. Let’s see another DBK Edition Release!
Please test Condors "Puko" type knives. They look very promising.
3:33 in; "How are they going to take us seriously?".... Don't worry Mikkie, we won't 😂🙈💩😂🙈👍👍👍.
You guys are SO entertaining. Love you👍❤👍🌞.
That's a tough title man, there's so much involved in picking the very best 5 -- but it was a cool video, thanks!
I feel like they've done reviews on enzo knives that they've built as a kit, but personally I'd love to see a video of them actually building it!
Nice arguments and good choices. It is a nice and serious video. :)
A survival knife may include combat,, that HUGE Extrema Ratio is NOT a fighting blade. It would also need more of a point for game processing. (Depending on the game that is)
Great video thanks 🇳🇱 🇳🇿
Please test an LT Wright Genesis and GNS! They will give that bark River a run for its money! The GNS would be a closer match to the bark River Aurora.
Best general purpose camp knife I have is my Buck 119. I have my dream knife (KaBar 1217 USMC combat knife) coming in the mail in a few days!
I going to haft to take a look at the puukko knife. Maybe add to my bushcraft knife collection
Secondary cool is king! I love your both trying to sell each other on why your pick is better LOL Great video men!
Best knife means best question and you answered it well: None, but good to talk about it!
(Btw my list: White River Ursus 45, DBK, Higonokami)
I got the new magnacut Ursus cub which is a edc sized scaled down Ursus 45. It’s amazing.
Hit my eye!
Where did you purchased it?
@@hanktheknife4352 white river website. Ursus cub and the sheath even come with a ferro rod loop and rod all for $200 which I think is a great deal for magnacut. Also it’s at 62-63rc which is perfect
Aurora Scandi 3V Micarta is around $278 without liners, $299 with liners in the USA.
I’d like to see you guys check out the Bark River- puukko
- bushcrafter 2
- Aurua 2
Bark river makes fantastic kitchen knives
i found a knife i fell in love with it, Fox Knives MD FX-132 MGT, maybe you give it a try? would love to see what you think about it
I don't know if the best, most elite, and extremely durable blade in the entire world made your list.
The steel on thes knifes is bad and they are sereided vhich dosent give you enugh blade
I would go with a Dawson Knives Fixed Blade in CPM Magnacut steel-around a 5-6.5 inch blade would be good!
My fallkniven a1xb is because of your video
I really like these guys to tell me what is the difference between survival knife and a bush craft knife?
Funny thing ive been to many different survival schools even a adventure school. We were taught wilderness survival. Some how youtube and knife companies marketing department decided survival is different from survival skills.
One of the first skills learned was making a saw. Everyone always carried saw blades. Nowadays we have folding saws.
I don't believe anyone needs to spend more then $150 to have a amazing knife.
Master hunter 3v
Bps adventurer
Srk-c
Mora Garberg
I would be willing to depend my life on anyone of those. The master hunter is the most expensive still around $100
I wouldn't take advice from guys that have never really used knives for a outdoors adventure.
Hard to sharpen is important.
Especially if your in the middle of nowhere and lost your diamond stones.
These guys use knives in their yard. Sharpening isn't a issue
Good explenation
What about extrema ration Tuscan and Big Mamba? any comparison to Selvans? cheers
There's the knife I have on me when I need one...and the knife I'm having fun with out in the woods.
I suspect A1x is better than A1pro... I do value F1x I use as my prime survival knife.
Love the (black) jacket
Thanks 😊 I'm liking it a lot
What was that budget knife called? I want to buy it and try it against my other knives, also to add to my collection
And what do you think of the F1x at ElMax?
i was just looking at that one. it seems to be cheaper than the lam. cos one
@@powerofyes In my country, it is more expensive at ElMax
please place the names on the screen of the knife you are showing each time; thank you
