For now, I’m an exclusively digital artist, but that only really happened in mid-2020. From late 2018~2020 I used both analog and digital means to create art, but after getting Procreate on the iPad in the summer of 2018, it really got me started on digital art. I’ve had an iPad since at least 2010~2011, and I technically started doing computer art for the first time in CSP, then Manga Studio 5, in like 2012~13, but it really was Procreate that encouraged me to draw consistently. I mean, I was always on my iPad and phone and always moping mentally that I didn’t draw enough. With the Procreate however, I had no excuse to _not_ to draw, because the app was on my screen and I could go into it in literally less than 5 seconds. It removed the “barrier” to me, even though very small, to really make me want to draw and push my art in a new direction with color, since I had been afraid of it for years. I mean, I did schoolwork, watched UA-cam, and used social media all the time on my devices, so why not use it for art, too? It really just makes the most sense for me to draw digitally since I’ve been using digital technology for pretty much all my life. It would be more “natural” for me, I suppose. Sorry if I explained that kind of awkwardly.
Yeah that makes total sense, having a good app being on the device you use all the time definitely makes the push to draw easier. I also found that having Procreate open up instantly and being so reliable is such a step up for me over using Photoshop on my laptop. Also being able to draw anywhere is great too. I wasn't drawing for long enough on the laptop before going to the iPad to be put off, but I can totally see how those hurdles would have been off-putting over time. Happy Procreate works so well for you like it does for me!
Sometimes videos are a bit slow to get off the ground, so that's a possibility. Hopefully they'll want to watch it, it's quite a diversion from my usual content so I'll just have to wait and see
