I can speak from experience that it is not uncommon for children in Japan to be independent. Not only because Japan is one of the safest countries in the world: we were taught from an early about “stranger danger “ and boy did they drill it into our heads with those videos and how to avoid being kidnapped. Also we were given small devices where if you pull the string out of it, it would cause a sharp, loud ringing noise that no one can ignore (scaring would be kidnappers and alerting other around you of whats going on)

No way in hell I would let my child flying alone ??? The first trip my daughter flew away to Japan with her friend when she was 22 and I was still worried to death!
I dealt with this a few years ago at Dave and buster's. I was with my son who was young at the time too but I notice a little boy about 4 years old walking around alone and looking around. Even thought I was with my son I kept my eye on the little boy too. I finally realized he was alone. I went up to him and asked where his family was and he said he didn't know. I felt so bad. I was about to say come with me and we will look for them until I realized during this time people will think I'm kidnapping him so I got an employee and told him the situation. They called for his parents 3 times before they realized it was their kid... wth
This reminds me of when my 3 yr old sister unlocked the door and was outside in the street of oncoming traffic for about an hour. Luckily, a family took her in and was able to bring her back to us. Most fearfully moment of my life. I'm so glad their parents were able to get them back safely!!
When I was a child and the Atlanta Olympics were occurring, continental airlines left me on my own. It wasn’t until I made it to LAX and was deplaning that they finally checked my dad’s ID to let me leave with him.
My daughter has always been a very smart person. When she was just 2 years old, she woke up at around 2 am. She gathered 5 of her favorite toys, used a chair to reach the chain lock on the front door. She walked 5 miles to a playground, started to get tired after playing for a while. She forgot to get the toys she had brought with her. She walked around, trying to find her way home, couldn't find it. At 4 am, a woman was knocking on my front door. She told me that my daughter was knocking on her door, thinking she had found her way home. It scared me so much! She was a fast learner. I taught her to sing our phone number & address. That's how the woman who brought her back, knew where her home was. As soon as stores were opened, I went out & bought a hook and eye with spring tension. My daughter could have figured out how to unhook it. Her fingers were not strong enough to pull the spring tension back.
@@boohere2 No, I didn't hear of that. I hope the child is returned safely. It's so terror inducing to have your child disappear. At first, I didn't believe my daughter had walked that far! My cousins moved to another country by flying alone, they were moving to be with their mother and tickets were too expensive (because of the price no family member could go with them, we couldn't afford), also the older was like 15yo, but they said there was little kids in the same situation, leaving one country to be with other parent in another country alone in the plain. They were kept togheter, guess the company did this way so kids would tell on each other If someone got lost or something.
Even the post office had it right back in the old days, fun fact you could mail out a child through the post office back when but the children always arrived safely.
I was 9 when I went on a 4+ hour plane ride alone, and yes my flight attendant also just waved goodbye I was also lost in one of the biggest airports in America but, lucky I found my aunt.

I remember I got lost at a kid’s convention thing when I was a kid. Thankfully I was smart enough to go to one of those customer service booth things and asked for help. I told them my mom’s name and they called her over the loudspeaker. My mom ended up being kind of mad at me because she was so worried about me. It was one of the scariest moments of my childhood.
I got on the wrong bus with my friend at the zoo for a preschool trip, I thought I knew what I was doing because I followed a girl with the same jacket as another little girl that rode the bus, when I realized I was on the wrong bus I got so scared to speak up, I was almost in the bordering state before I did, another girl was with me. Reflecting on it we shouldn't have been in trouble it should have been the people that were supposed to be watching us, we were like 5.
I'm learning how to travel solo by train. Last year in the summer holiday, a bit after i turned 13, i was about to go on a 7 and a half hour train journey by myself. Now, the reason this was a challenge, is because of the deutsche bahn just not knowing what the hell they're doing. I had 50 minutes as a connection time, but because of a fire near the rail, our train had to go a giant detour, landing me at frankfurt 70 minutes late, meaning I missed my train. Thankfully I could stay in touch with my mom by calling her and together finding alternatives. After not too long, we found a different train I could go on heading the same direction. On the way back the first train, which was a 4 hour ride from end to end on a regional express, was on time, and lucky for me, there was a delayed train I could take to save up to an hour, and i could just catch it, which I did. But then the irony hit as due to a problem with the train we had to wait in the same spot for 55 minutes, meaning i had saved less than two minutes. Thankfully, I didn't get lost. Don't know about flying alone though...
@@eddiejr3934 I have been a pilot for 8 years and i have fear of heights, a lot of pilot's actually have fear of heights but it's a completely different feeling being inside a plane than standing on the edge of a cliff or a really high bridge or building. @@maple_the_aussiedoodle3167 it’s actually pretty safe to fly alone. You literally can’t go anywhere without an attendant. There is someone at each stop whose job is to take you to the kids area(rly fun) and then bring you to your next flight.
It's not always the airlines. It's the airport. My sister and I have autism and we flew to Newark airport and had on our ticket that we needed assistance they left us and didn't come and get us I went up to a lady working at the desk her patients was out bc she was helping another family then said I'm done after this family and knowing that my sister and I needed help and my sister with her anxiety and her not helping I had to be like look here ( keep in mind my twin sister and I were 20 years old) then did work called my mom on face time and she guided us through the airport. Our mom told us to ask this guy and he was not very helpful he was an airport staff member then we walked up to a pilot and he got his boss over and the boss and the pilot helped us to where we were supposed to be. We had to get on a bus to get on the runway to go to the plane. We got my mom on face time to talk to some stuff that watched over us for the 2 hours that we had to wait. A guy came up to us and he could tell that we were very frustrated and upset and he made it his mission to personally walk us both down to the bus after he helped all of the other people going on the plane with us he walked us all the way down to the bus and told the bus driver and another attendant lady that was riding the bus to make sure we got into the plane safely and they made us call our mom to tell her that we made it into the plane safely. On the way back at the check in counter with our aunt we told the story and she gave us wheelchair assistance. And she said to tell them that we don't need the wheel chair just help to get to the next gate then to get into the plane they were hesitant at first but I was very firm with my voice and they helped us and we made it back home safely. I think that airport staff need more training for problems like my sister and I's issue.
I remember wandering off and getting lost in Sesame Place in Philadelphia while I was on a trip with my mother, little sister, and grandparents, reason being I had struggled with my ASD diagnosis growing up and didn’t have a sound mind. I was lost for 2 hours straight, nobody stopping until finally a woman with her kids found me and brought me to the security breach. I was thankfully reunited with my family, that woman became part of us and my mother contacts her often. I just hope the 2 that got lost will hopefully be better taken care of this time around.
As a parent, I would never ever leave my kid to an airline attendant even if they tell me everything will be okay. I believe it’s ultimately the parents responsibility. Sorry.
I went on a plane flight on my own. My parents handled everything and there was a very nice flight attendant that constantly checked on me. This probably doesn't count but I was young at the time and very shy, still am today.

I used to fly from PDX to DIA all alone from the ages of 8-14 and once got lost in DIA. It was so scary because everyone got onto the trains but I didn’t know which one to get on so I was left all alone there. It was like 11pm too and that airport is creepy as hell. Like horrifyingly creepy 😭

I’ve traveled alone as a child many many times as I lived in cali and family in NY ppl were there only to bring to the gate and left me for the whole trip I needed to find ppl on my own to get help mind you this is from 3rd grade to 7th grade. There was only 3 times someone was there with me for the hole trip! I couldn’t even tell you the amount of trips I had back and forth. So that wasn’t a mistake they lost that child that’s a common practice!
my kindergarten teacher left me far from home after we went with a bus. i asked them why they did it and they told me "you didn't tell your father's name" i never remember being asked.
The 17 yo boy and his sister could also run for a record of "Teens with the coolest Parents" I swear to God, even going to the store next door without supervision for me was impossible
The boy that went to get flowers also forgot another item halfway back, he checked the list his mom gave him and was like: oh shoot and went all the way back to the store

And I tried to sprint passed him, he threw a fist sized rock right at my head. I felt it hit my head, but i think because of the adrenaline, it didn't hurt. But I started bleeding instantly and had a lump for a couple of days.
He got "kicked out" from that baby sitter's house.

It’s not uncommon in some Asian countries for children as young as 5. My son father wanted me to put him on plane when he was less than 13 to see him. I was like hell no.
I'm 99% sure it happened because they swapped passports and tickets, nothing to do with the airline they just thought it was a good idea lol

They called for his parents 3 times before they realized it was their kid... wth
…..wth
Huh wtf-
you should have called the cops, that kid didn’t deserve those parents
I would NEVER send a kid on an airplane alone. Jesus that scary.
My husband did it when he was only 6, from Chicago to Cincinnati. No problems, but I think I’d be too nervous to send my kids that way too.
I went on my first plane ride by myself by the age 9, I think. It was in the mid-70s. Everything went okay but I wouldn't dare do it now❗❗❗❗❗

Glad she returned safely! What a smart kid yes. Did you hear about the 3 year old missing from a playground in Texas?
@@boohere2 No, I didn't hear of that. I hope the child is returned safely. It's so terror inducing to have your child disappear.
At first, I didn't believe my daughter had walked that far! I got in my car with my daughter, she directed me to the playground she had gone to. When I saw her 5 favorite toys where she had left them, it was a moment of awe mixed with fear.
@@FreeSpirit47 if you look up, Lina Sardar Khil you'll see the case. There is still no trace of the little girl. For some strange reason, the mom left her alone at the playground. Definitely one of the little girls of all time
My cousins moved to another country by flying alone, they were moving to be with their mother and tickets were too expensive (because of the price no family member could go with them, we couldn't afford), also the older was like 15yo, but they said there was little kids in the same situation, leaving one country to be with other parent in another country alone in the plain. They were kept togheter, guess the company did this way so kids would tell on each other If someone got lost or something.
Even the post office had it right back in the old days, fun fact you could mail out a child through the post office back when but the children always arrived safely.
The last one bring the sibling fight into a whole new level lmao
I went from Florida to California alone at ages 11 and 12 (way back) on a Greyhound..--- best time of my childhood!

I was 9 when I went on a 4+ hour plane ride alone, and yes my flight attendant also just waved goodbye I was also lost in one of the biggest airports in America but, lucky I found my aunt.
I love this video has everything from a nearly adult teenager getting a world record to a four year old going on an errand to a seven year old getting into a car crash. Just so much
I remember I got lost at a kid’s convention thing when I was a kid.
I remembered flying to Calgary by myself on the plane as a child and being allowed briefly into the cockpit of the plane to have a quick Look

@@eddiejr3934
I have been a pilot for 8 years and i have fear of heights, a lot of pilot's actually have fear of heights but it's a completely different feeling being inside a plane than standing on the edge of a cliff or a really high bridge or building. I still remember my introductory flight i was so worried that i was gonna panic because of my fear of heights and when we took off there was zero fear just excitement. Now when i get into a plane it doesn't even cross my mind. I still do have fear of heights because last year i visited a friend in Toronto Canada and he talked me into going on the CN tower with him and i wouldn't even walk up close to the window because i was scared i was gonna fall.
Man, I really have to see what's so special about these SLUSHIES!!!!!

My daughter will be traveling next week from UK to South Africa, and she is 9 but tall .
A guy came up to us and he could tell that we were very frustrated and upset and he made it his mission to personally walk us both down to the bus after he helped all of the other people going on the plane with us he walked us all the way down to the bus and told the bus driver and another attendant lady that was riding the bus to make sure we got into the
plane safely and they made us call our mom to tell her that we made it into the plane safely.
Those children definitely went through the Kevin treatment from the Home Alone movies, glad they're still OK now.
I use to fly alone at a young age (parents were separated and lived in different states, had shared custody) and never had a issue or mix up.
As a parent, I would never ever leave my kid to an airline attendant even if they tell me everything will be okay. I believe it’s ultimately the parents responsibility. Sorry.

I used to fly by myself all the time when I was a kid back in the 1970s. I wasn't able to go very far, though, because my arms were small and they got tired really quickly.
