    I really laugh at how the on-screen translator is mistranslatiing Chille's accent so it says "Pharmarcy Seven" instead of "Final Fantasy VII." XD

    Crisis Core only sold 4% on Xbox
    FF7 is synonymous with PS and they will make sure it stays that way with Remake
    Square and Sony's history together is so strong especially with Final Fantasy but they're never going to go out of their way just to please the 5 Xbox fans that want it.

    • @ohnosmoarlulcatz

      The Crisis Core numbers comes with a huge asterisk because it doesn't include the NA numbers, which is the largest Xbox demographic, not to mention that Japan accounts for a much larger percentage of sales than any recent FF entry as well. We only have Japan and the UK to work with to figure out that rough 4-6% estimate.

      @@ohnosmoarlulcatz problem is that FF never made money on Xbox, since the ff13, it has always been like, the trilogy didn't make money on Xbox, ff15 neither, if I remember correctly ff15 came out after an year or two on pc and made more money there than on Xbox.

    • @ohnosmoarlulcatz
      @ohnosmoarlulcatz 6 місяців тому

      @@symonheiloguu FF13 and FF15 both made money on the Xbox because they were ports, not originals. You have to remember that ports cost less than the development of a full game and 30% of the NA launch sales of FF13 were on Xbox. Japan's numbers are so insane no game is ever going to come close to beating FF13's install base in Japan, not even Halo at its peak. Accounting for Playstation's cut and potentially a very high end port cost of $10 million, Xbox is still over $6 million in gross profit for FF13 alone.
      This difference is even more staggering for FF15 because 15%+ of all sales were on Xbox despite it not even being an option in Asia. This is why the Xbox ports are so important, especially in the NA and EU market they're trying to appeal to.
      Not releasing FF16 on Xbox for example cost them at least 1 million sales. It would've been a net gain for Square Enix unless Sony handed them $100 million for the exclusivity deal. The same goes for FF7R and FF7R2. The 3 games have likely costed Square Enix $300 million minimum in sales.

      @@ohnosmoarlulcatz Bro, final fantasy does not sells on Xbox, square skips Xbox because of that, and they are not alone, other companies does the same and it's the same even regarding third party games, why do you think Sony gets marketing rights for everything? Even when it's released on Xbox, Sony are the ones who owns marketing rights.

    • @ohnosmoarlulcatz
      @ohnosmoarlulcatz 6 місяців тому

      @@symonheiloguu Final Fantasy absolutely sells on the Xbox. FF15 sold more copies on the Xbox than it did in the entire country of Japan. By that logic it wouldn't be profitable to sell FF15 in the entire country of Japan, ironically what led to the dub being English by default instead of Japanese for FF16.
      Sony gets marketing rights because that's part of the exclusivity deal. It's to make it more attractive by having them cover the marketing costs in exchange for a larger share of the net sales. That way the $50 million deal suddenly looks a lot more attractive. You saw this for a lot of movies including Godzilla Minus One and Rebuild of Evangelion. Godzilla Minus One had a $15 million budget on paper, but Tokyo TV, Bandai Namco, and others contributed to Toho's budget to lower the actual costs. That's why Sony also contributed to the newest iteration of the Crystal Tools/Luminous Engine. It made the deal look more attractive to make up for the $100 million loss.

      To be honest you have more ps5 consoles on the market therefore if you put the game on ps5 you are automatically getting a bigger ecosystem of people to potentially play and buy the game

    • @ohnosmoarlulcatz
      @ohnosmoarlulcatz 6 місяців тому

      @@wheels7176 Xbox sales aren't even low to begin with. Even back in the FF13 days, Xbox was roughly 20-25% of overall sales. Japan helped this ratio because they accounted for 1/4 of all sales. But by the release of FF15, FF as a whole had experienced a decline in Japan, leading to the Xbox share being around if not over 40%, almost double compared to that of FF13 despite Xbox FF15 not even having a proper Asian release. Sony needed the exclusivity deal with the FF franchise because they couldn't risk losing that majority they held for over 2 decades at that point as FF had proven that they would jump over to the most popular platform given the opportunity in the past. FF16 would've been the game that pushed the PS into the minority and give Square Enix a reason to move FF as a whole to PC or Switch as their primary platform instead.

    Seriously, what about Square's other properties? Are they f**king chopped liver? What about Kingdom Hearts IV? What about anything Dragon Quest related like the HD remake of Dragon Quest III OR DRAGON QUEST XI???? Final Fantasy may be the big wig, but there are other series that compete with it. X(

    • @ohnosmoarlulcatz
      @ohnosmoarlulcatz 6 місяців тому

      The problem with Kingdom Hearts is that Disney has enormous say and oversight in it, which makes productions very problematic. Many of the negative aspects of KH3 are reportedly tied to Disney from the worlds chosen to feature, how they retrace the original stories, and the lack of FF characters.
      Dragon Quest is something SE seems to seriously try to avoid talking about or pushing, especially the backlash they got from the potential changes to the combat system. Everyone was worried it was going to go another FF7R route and people were rightfully cautious. I wouldn't be surprised if they were trying to adapt the Octopath system over to it at some point and the backlash forced them to go back and change a lot, thus an inevitable delay.
      The other properties like Drakengard/Nier isn't going anywhere without Yoko Taro coming back. Valkyrie and Star Ocean are both in the trash already. They've given up on Front Mission since 2089 and their attempt at a remake was disappointing. The same goes for the Saga games now that Octopath exists. The World Ends With You got utterly oblierated by their terrible hot take style of translation
      This essentially leaves us with the Mana games, the remaining action RPG that they're pushing out a new game for. That is unless they have another dumb PS5 tech demo they haven't tried to sell us yet.

    I HIGHLY doubt that FF16 is this summer, as Dawntrail comes out this summer and as we've seen they don't want their big titles to be competing with each other, the earliest most likely will be like September or later and then Rebirth next year at the earliest. They usually want to space out their big releases and not try to cram it in so close to each other.

    • @ohnosmoarlulcatz
      @ohnosmoarlulcatz 6 місяців тому

      Definitely not this summer for FF16. Remember that the negotiations only applied to Rebirth. None of their other exclusives with Playstation are subject to the same agreement. Plus, just because the exclusivity period ends doesn't mean they have the game ready to be released, especially when you remember Ghosts of Tsushima is releasing on PC at that time too.

      @@ohnosmoarlulcatzyeah the timed exclusivity time period is just a formality and not indicative of when it'll be going to other platforms.
