Why break the song for a breath in the phrase up to the top C, It's only 4 bars? Brains version of that phrase is how I think the composer intended. So many players change it to make it easier. It's like rounding off the edges in cubism, as its easier.
Richard Slater Dude. Seriously. That student was working on making their air more efficient. It doesn't come easily for most. I sure hope you aren't teaching beginners this philosophy all the time, as you'll teach them to go for high notes without maximum compression.
