This time I wanted to take a break from BlueARP and make something else.
I took this LED lantern and replaced all the internals with my custom-designed ones - colorful LED strips, stm32f103 with 16 independent PWM channels, driving the LEDs at 9kHz PWM frequency.
I modified a few of these lanterns as a gift for my friends and I'm not going to monetize it, so here are the project files:

If you want to make the same - feel free to ask me in the comments.
Great project! Hope to see your hardware arpeggiator soon... Thumb up!
Can you make it react to music like a loudness meter filling up? It would look very cool :)
I could but I didn't - cause it will be a more complex schematic and I wasn't much interested in this. This MCU is too weak for any FFT analysis on the audio, so the possible solution would be mic -> amp -> peak level voltage -> ADC IN on the chip. If you take more powerful chip like stm32f4, you can analyze frequencies in real-time and make it like red lights up on the bass, green on mids and blue on hi's, but this would be too complex for this kind of hobby project.
OK ; That completely spoiled the "surprise package" you were gonna send me... 😂
Yeah, it was easy to guess. I need to finish with this one and get back to BlueARP, cause it took too much of my time already.
I you need any custom mode - let me know. For example, I can make it blink anything in Morse code - easy stuff. Regarding the battery - it can be powered from USB as well, so it can work without, you can install one later,
This looks really awesome. I'd love to own one of these someday!
In a way, this is a modern version of a "lava lamp" which consumes far less electricity and lasts much, much longer. Great work!
Yeah, there are projects like this. I didn't want to replicate or compete with any, just to make my own one as a temporary break out from my main project (bluearp dm).
wow! That was great - and fun.
i work for RAB Lighting as a product designer - check 'em out!
