I look at it as a ‘Guitar Bass’. Sold one recently in my store that had sat around (luckily for me) a few months. Being tuned as guitar down an octave kind of cancels out the typical baritone designation in my opinion. I’ve had people say it’s a “guitar bass” but it does neither very well.😅 When it originally came out it was actually used on several famous recordings. Thanks Tomo!

I love my harley benton version, i love to use open tuning in particular like Db Db Ab Db E (i take off the A string) which can get you super full sounds which can sound like a bass and guitar playing at the same time and is great for metal/punk

First off, excellent playing! I just bought one and in my opinion it's definitely all bass. Yes you can play chords, but not so much in the lower registers (1st 3 or 4 frets); For us regular guitar players, don't expect to pick this thing up and start shredding like a regular electric. String bending is not easy. However, what Tomo did here is an excellent example of what can be done with this unique instrument.

@Tomo I'm guessing the "different tone" you mention might be roundwounds on one Bass VI and flats on the other... did I figure it out???

So I take it that a standard guitar speaker can actually handle the lower end of the Bass VI, but not so much from a "normal" bass guitar.

Super nice, I just got mine last week. What did you do to set it up? From what I hear it can do with a good set of strings, it apparently comes with strings that are too light which seems right with the one I’ve got
So awesome! Basic stuff, neck angle, saddles intonation, string height, pickups height etc. My string height is pretty high!

Yes! Pretty much all left hand muting technique! From R37 Swing Groove (foundation) to apply to funk groove.
Not gonna lie, I think of Baritones as in between bass and the guitar we all know.
