ON THE BOARD - Castaic Lake Lagoon Fishing

In this video we show our first few fishing trips of 2024 at the Castaic Lake Lagoon. February is the time to start keeping a close eye on the water temperature out here in California, and trying to be out there for when these fish start moving into prespawn mode. That is the best time of the year to fish and is always the best chance of catching a giant. This yea however, it has just been taking a bit longer to reach that point. Thanks for watching!

No there hasn’t been for a long time, and that’s why there are also no more world class largemouth in there either because they don’t have the trout in their diet.

I tell you with them letting so much water out of the upper lake it has both lakes messed up. Need to hold on to the water and let things settle down. Nice vid

Great video bro! Its a grind right now for us Bank fisherman. I noticed you mostly use mono. Have you tried flouro??Do you think that it makes a big difference fishing mono or flouro in our pressured waters?

Thanks man 👊🏽😊 Yeah it’s tough out there for sure, getting better though. Haha yeah I do use mono a lot more than most people do now days, but certain techniques I’ll go fluoro, others braid to mono or fluoro leader… just depends on what I’m trying to do really. Mono and braid float, fluoro sinks… mono has stretch, fluoro has less stretch, braid has no stretch, stuff like that just applies to specific techniques. Lot of preference involved too. Not really much of a difference as far as pressured or line shy fish go being that mono and fluoro are both clear, but possibly having the fluoro diameter being smaller might help with that a little I suppose. It’s really just making sure I have a clear leader on my braid that I worry about as far as the fish being pressured because they’ll see the braid especially on a slow finesse technique. 🤙🏽
