      Yes, but the difference is that Judy Garland was simply less fortunate. Britney Spears lives to tall her tale.
      Judy Garland was even robbed during her last Oscar nomination because Hollywood machine, which drugged and abused her for years, was ready to replace her with Grace Kelly (who later quit acting to become Princess of Monaco) who fit their idealized version of a Hollywood leading lady.

    The grossest thing to me about the obsession with Brittney now is that people are saying she shouldn't have had her conservatorship lifted because she's made some unhinged posts recently. She's traumatized, she's never been able to live her life freely, leave her alone.

    • @beckyweiss6072
      @beckyweiss6072 11 місяців тому +54

      Definitely. I am really glad I read her book, because while i was glad she had her conservatorship lifted, I was still worried for her because of her really strange posts. Then I learned in the book that not only was she forced into a conservatorship run by her ab*sive dad (that was ab*sive to her, her mom, and her brother when she was a child), but she was shoved into a mental facility against her will and forced to take *lithium.* On top of that, during the entirety of the conservatorship, she was forced to take prescription pills in front of people and *she had no idea what they were.*
      Her brain is genuinely scrambled and it's in no way her fault. So she's gonna be making strange posts and act a little wild as she tries to find her footing again, especially given her current turmoil with her divorce. I hope this book coming out will let her heal, she needs it badly.

It's shocking to watch back some of these interviews decades later and see how well spoken, articulate, gracious, and diplomatic she often was under extremely hostile scrutiny. It's impressive when you remember how young she was at the time. Britney seems like a genuine and good-hearted person with normal flaws who didn't want to play "the game" anymore once she saw it for what it was. Those are the people who get dragged. There are celebs who blow all their money and end up broke.......yet all she is doing is dancing around on Instagram and people want to take her freedom again. I don't understand why they can't just let this woman be who she wants.

    Honestly I've been so happy to see her come back and take control of her narrative and her life. I grew up with her name all over the headlines and her music on every station, and even went through the phase a lot of girls go through where I had to be "anti britney" because I thought it wasn't cool to like her. But as a grown woman now, I just find her story all too familiar and relatable to so many. I hope her future can be beautiful and bright, because she deserves the opportunity to make her life whatever she wants it to be.

      @TheRandoGal if you think about it, it's our own fault for allowing ourselves to be manipulated by media and corporations without first asking questions and verifying. People are still easily manipulated by politics and the media today. No one asks questions or cares enough to hear ALL sides before making an informed opinion. That's our own fault. It's time we take responsibility for it instead of blaming others.

    • @aurora6920

      @darlingdeb You can't blame ourselves for being manipulated. The industry use experts to learn how to manipulate us. So it's hard to know what to question when everything you grew up with could be a lie, we only know what the government, school and media teach us. When Britney said she was okay and the media shows someone in a certain light, it's hard to know what truth and a lie. I never saw it coming that she was locked up in an illegal conservatorship.

    Many female musicians or divas have the same sad stories with manipulative parents who treated their talented kids like money trees. They used and abused them, guilt trip and control these women to meet their financial greed. It’s so sad that usually it’s those parents who are willing to do anything to push their kids to stardoms is the way that created these stars. They are destine to stardom but at the same time flawed and damaged since childhood.

    I feel like Britney is kinda the Dolly Parton of her generation, in terms of her Southern roots, 'blonde bombshell' image, rampant criticism of her sexuality & her body, & exploitation by the industry? Really, really hope she is able to find her power as a mature woman the way that Dolly did, and reclaim her dignity after the insane journey she's survived so far.
    Incidentally, I hope like hell talkshow hosts have stopped asking young entertainment industry stars those kinds of intrusive questions about their sex lives?? 😬 (Though sadly based on seeing recent clips with Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, I don't think things have changed much yet?) That V-card query with Britney was an incredibly uncomfortable moment to witness, so sleazy and SO irrelevant to her musical talent, which is ostensibly why she was being interviewed in the first place... Ugh! Give these poor girls SOME privacy, please??

    I know this is going to be a very unpopular opinion... But I don't think it is fair to say that concern about her recent posts comes only out of sexism or that they're attempts to treat her as a child again. Those of us who have lost adult relatives and had no means to intervene because they didn't accept help see this differently. Hopefully that's not the case. But if we have seen people like Aaron Carter surrounded by enablers , and people were praised for calling the cops to check on him before what later happened, it's not irrational for some fans of her to feel the same way now... Now we know even Sam wasn't someone to rely on in the first place.
