Ron Hextall was infamous for being a completely unhinged goalie that was often fighting and beating up players. Also the coach at the end, John Torterella, is famous for being pretty intense.
2:07 You have no idea. There's a video titled "14 Minutes of Pissed Off Goalies" and it exists for a reason lol. I highly recommend it, goalies are crazy, but they need to be for the job. Who else can take a disk of hard rubber in the face and enjoy it as a career?
John Tortorella (the coach in the last clip) is a gold mine for post game rants. Highly recommend checking him out. Out there request. The Philadelphia Flyers have a mascot named Gritty. Highly recommend scoping out some of Gritty’s highlights.
Hockey sticks are often called twigs because they used to be made of wood. Similarly, you’ll sometimes hear jerseys referred to as sweaters because they used to be actual wool sweaters. And yes, hockey goalies are known to be a separate species. They’re all odd and out there.
One of the best fights I ever saw in hockey was a fight between goalies Ron Hextall and Felix Potvin. Everyone expected Potvin to lose because Hextall was bigger and kind of an intimidator. Hextall was one of the most dangerous goalies, he was known for slashing opposing players if they got in his way. He is also one of the few goalies to ever score a goal in the NHL. I'd consider the fight a win for Potvin.
You should check out the brawl between Vancouver Canucks & Calgary Flames. Same coach, John Tortorella for Canucks. It was crazy & intense - the beef lasted into the next season
What’s funny about the clip of Ovechkin raging after losing to Boston, the player who scored that goal, Craig Smith, now plays on the same team as Ovechkin, the Washington Capitals. He was traded in January in the blockbuster Orlov trade where Boston acquired quality defenseman Dmitry Orlov
I played out of Boston in the 60's, 70's as a kid, we had a traveling team that played in Canada every year, best experience of my life, hockey is a hard hitting sport obviously but it's the little things you may not notice that usually cause anger, like hooking, spearing, but ending, boarding, many times you'll see 2 guys digging for the puck, many penalties don't get called, especially when the refs "let them play", which means anything goes kinda, so you get pissed when there's no call after obvious penalty, but there hard to see sometimes and the refs put their whistle in their pockets. It's frustrating, you retaliate and you get the penalty.
When Belfour played for the Leafs a couple seasons, the most common phrase out of my mouth was "Get back in the net, Belfour!!!!". I don't know of any goalie who was caught out of their net as frequently as Eddie Belfour. Brutal.
incredible goalie otherwise though.. and that one clip should not have been a goal under any circumstances. but if you’re a goaltender, tend the damn goal.
You should react to mark andrea fleury he is one of the best goalies of all time and he has some amazing saves iconic moments and multiple amazing pranks
Goalies can be some of the funniest guys on the ice. Coaches on the other hand....You could definitely do a coach compilation. Don't mess with their players. Especially their stars and their goalies.
Goalies are absolutely the best and are a different breed altogether, well you kind of have to be to want to stand in front of shots going at 80 mph and faster. The last coach is John Tortorella and he is honestly one of the funniest coaches he says what he wants, swears in the interviews and will flat out say his team sucked if they played badly. He also is known for calling out interviewers so you might enjoy reacting to some of his funniest moments You should definitely react to lighthearted moments or happy goalies to balance out the angry moments. 14 minutes of pissed off goalies though is a great video. Also react to Ron Hextall one of the craziest goalies ever to this day he still leads in league in goalie penalty minutes. The Sabres recently signed a new goalie who played his 5th game today and the guy is a beast winning 4 out of the 5 games he's been in for. Think he is also one of the youngest goaltenders to win their first career shootout.
You should watch a video by a channel named Hockey Breakdowns called "A Death of a Fan caused The NHL to mandate safety nets." It's a sad video, but it's what finally made the NHL put netting behind the goals prior to 2002 that were not a thing. It created what is known as the Brittany rule/mandate.
One of the craziest players who ever played, was a goalie. Ron Hextall. That dude didn't need the other players to fight his fights for him. He'd take on anyone.
John Tortorella (the coach at the end) was pretty much right about what he was saying and he is what you could call passionate. Tortorella was also the coach of the Vancouver Canucks at the same time that Bob Hartley was the coach of the Calgary Flames. They played each other one night, Tortorella started his fourth line so Hartley matched and started his fourth line. A line brawl breaks out right at the beginning of the game and at the end of the period Tortorella went over to the Calgary locker room to pick a fight with Hartley, Calgary players are holding him back even. It was quite a sight to see. So passionate? Probably. Unhinged? Most definitely.
Maybe I missed it but I’ve Never seen our goalie act like that! Connor Hellebuyck, Winnipeg Jets; Vezina Trophy (top goalie trophy) in 2020 and nominated again this year. To be awarded on June 26th to the winner.
The video at 3:05 of the players chasing the refs to the boards was completely valid I would have done the same. It’s illegal to hand pass to another teammate it’s to be blown down immediately. In that case it was in overtime in the playoffs so a CRUCIAL game and the refs called a good goal on an illegal play
The reason those players followed the ref's into the corner and were so mad was that the overtime goal in the playoffs was scored with an illegal hand pass and all 4 of the refs missed it. You are allowed to play the puck with your hand so long as you do not close your hand and that you do not pass it directly to a teammate with your hand which is what happened on the goal.
You need to react to the biggest beast to ever lace them up... Dustin Byfuglien. There's a great video by Sportsnet, (Top Dustin Byfuglien Career Highlights...So Far) although he is retired. Truly one of a kind, wont see another like him.
Ovechkin is an absolutely great player, at the same time, he is one of the biggest freaking babies the league has ever seen. Especially if things aren't going his way
The last one was really dumb, i saw it live. they scored in the end before OT but since the clock wasnt done right the goal didnt count, thus it went to OT where their starter goalie got hurt and they lost the game.
Yes they call hockey sticks twigs. It probably originates back from the early days of the nhl when they used to use wooden sticks all the way up to the 90s-00s. Now sticks are typically made out of fiberglass material and some other stronger materials but the slang stuck. And I play as a goalie in a rec floor hockey program, we are definitely an odd bunch. Going just based off how I am and what I've also noticed about other goalies. You will get one of three sides, the happy calm and relaxed side, the odd weirdo side or the psycho rage side if they're playing poorly
@@11DNA11 do you even know how to read? I said the nickname likely originated from the earlier times in the nhl when they used to use just wooden sticks which changed around the 90s-00s timeframe.
It’s must’ve been excluded from this video because it was in the AHL and not the NHL, but look up Tuukka Rask’s Providence Bruins shootout loss tantrum. Dude loses his shit (for good reason). He’s the guy whose woodchopping form you were admiring in this clip 😅
Refs don't take shit from the players in hockey. I'm a ref and I don't. I've been yelled at many times by players, coaches and parents. I simply tell them to get off my ice or out of my arena.
Ed Belfour was my fav goalie growing up. He was fantastic in the 90s for both the Blackhawks and Stars. He did have a temper on him though, but in this video I think his anger was justified.
John Tortorella is a crybaby lol. I'm not saying he's always wrong when he complains, but he complains so much that you kinda root against him instinctively.........and let's be honest, he's going to act the same whether he knows he's overreacting or having a legitimate grievance with the refs lol.
Where's the clip of Patrick Roy when he was coaching his first game for the Avs and was trying to go into the opposing bench to fight the coach of the other team?
You should totally do the "Happy Goalies" compilation as a funny / light hearted comparison to the angry twig breaking haha
Ullmark and Swayman lol
Watch the 14 minutes of pissed of goalies and the happy goalies back to back.
Great suggestion
That "have another doughnut!" clip is legendary.
Ron Hextall was infamous for being a completely unhinged goalie that was often fighting and beating up players. Also the coach at the end, John Torterella, is famous for being pretty intense.
Hex was awesome :) And a pretty damn good goalie aswell.
NHL needs more characters like that.
@@11DNA11 He was a very good goalie...bit of a lunatic though lol
Rask an Brodeur are also in that video for a reason, them boys aren't afraid to show their disappointment

I second checking out that video next.

Like some goalie i know :D
Solar system is humangous beeg!
@11DNA11 hopefully there aren't any space bears 😂

I got 2:
Reaction to Connor Bedard's 2023 world junior highlights.
NHL Goalie Goals
You should watch light hearted moments too.
And jordan binninton is one of the modern day goaltenders that can become unhinged
Save it for the Canada channel. Without hockey, there won't be much.
Check out 14 minutes of pissed off goalies. Make sure to watch the part 1 video first.
You have to do one on Ron Hextall. The guy was infamous
6:34 "Have another doughnut, you fat pig." All-time classic.
There's a goaltender who was named Ron Hextall, who was famous for his raging temper. :)
6:09 Yes, currently the goaltender for the St Louis Blues, Jordan Binnington. The guy is a snap show.
You should react to mark andrea fleury he is one of the best goalies of all time and he has some amazing saves iconic moments and multiple amazing pranks

“I can't believe I shook this guy's friggin' hand” should be here
im surprised they didnt have the clip of patrick roy pushing over the glass separating the benches
Hockey is a pretty emotional sport for sure. 😂 I know the feelings as a goalie with both the good and bad moments.
John Tortorella (the coach at the end) was pretty much right about what he was saying and he is what you could call passionate.

Breaking sticks (on purpose) is actually really rare.. this is a collection of several years. 30+ teams x 82 games per year. It happens sometimes.
Maybe I missed it but I’ve Never seen our goalie act like that! Connor Hellebuyck, Winnipeg Jets; Vezina Trophy (top goalie trophy) in 2020 and nominated again this year. To be awarded on June 26th to the winner.
Stu Grimson going nuts in the early 90s and the bruins beating up the Rangers fans in Madison square Garden in 1979.
goal tenders in hockey are a special breed

Half of this video could have been John Tortorella (the coach at the end). He's a notorious hothead.
react to top angry coaches! Especially john tortorella
Best coach angry moment is Lindy Ruff vs Bryan Murray. Hands down, no competition

Can you please do Wayne Gretzky. He started when he was 2 and was incredible by the age of 6.
Oh man, you have to watch 14 minutes of pissed off goalies. It’s great.
Maybe you could watch a goalie fights compilation?
how do you have an angry video without even mention of either Ron Hextall or Billy Smith? lol
Refs don't take shit from the players in hockey. I'm a ref and I don't. I've been yelled at many times by players, coaches and parents. I simply tell them to get off my ice or out of my arena.
Yes it is mine. I rule the ice with an iron fist.
Ed Belfour was my fav goalie growing up. He was fantastic in the 90s for both the Blackhawks and Stars. He did have a temper on him though, but in this video I think his anger was justified.
you gotta watch funniest mic'd up moments
Those hockey sticks are worth a lot of money too, thousands I would guess.
suggest watching NHL players and fan interactions thru the glass.
These guys are so strong they could be boxes…. The men eat trucks for lunch.. ! They’re like football players, American ones!
You should watch a video of the nhl best dangles you’ll be very impressed with some of them I guarantee you
You should do a reaction to nhl hot mics
are you going to follow hockey next season if so what team
Did you pick a favorite nhl team yet?
Not getting Marchand angry moments in this video is a crime, marchy and bergy. Yin and yang
Torts is a proper gaffer. IMHO he was right on this but thats not the point, he takes all the heat for the team.
you should look at nhl commercials
React to some Jordan Binnington clips if you want a chaotic goalie 😂
NHL as a league is having problems between officiating and the teams. The league is corrupt.
Yay finally my HABS! :D
I expected to see way more from Torts here
Mert they men and women tending the net are GOALIES, GOALIES, GOALIES!!!!!!
you should to a tortarella greatest meltdowns
angry goalies look at billy smith ron hextall ed belfour
But your team should never allow your own goalie to face a 3 on 0 lol
love Torts
John Tortorella is a crybaby lol. I'm not saying he's always wrong when he complains, but he complains so much that you kinda root against him instinctively.........and let's be honest, he's going to act the same whether he knows he's overreacting or having a legitimate grievance with the refs lol.

Where's the clip of Patrick Roy when he was coaching his first game for the Avs and was trying to go into the opposing bench to fight the coach of the other team?
ovie is not liked in the nhl due to his close friendship with putin
