    Overall, Anakin's struggle in the Jedi Temple is more pronounced in Legends;
Apparently, he was afraid to meditate at times, due to how overwhelming it was since he was so Force Sensitive. Which is an interesting concept in and of itself. When your latent abilities rival that of the Gods of the Force itself.... that must be a wildly intense feeling.
He was much older than most any initiates in the Order's history, was very skilled in Saber combat, had raw talent in the force, and yet the masters didn't think to hone his skills or take more interest in him.

Honestly I think they were too religious about it, in an effort to not seek power by giving him the necessary attention, and thus seeking to increase the Jedi power which is a road to the dark side, they fell victim to their own fear which is also a road to the dark side. Ironic it’s almost as if they were destined

Obi-Wan's promotion to Knighthood I think is similar to Luke's; it's not so much the fact that they defeated a Sith in combat, but in that moment they overcame a great darkness without losing themselves to it, and losing faith in the Light. Obi-Wan saw his master slain as he helplessly watched, Luke faced his greatest adversary only to realize Vader was his own father. In this moment they were both vulnerable to the dark side; but they overcame it. That is the true mark of a Jedi Knight

@TroySoy I know they've met many times, but the 2 featured in the films are the most significant. It's interesting because Anakin is a lot like Dooku was when he was still a Jedi. Anakin was never made a Jedi Master because while he showed incredible skill with a blade and with the Force; he never showed he could overcome his own inner darkness. That's where he failed as a Jedi; and where his masters failed to help him.

Less of a special treatment and more empathy. Yoda, in particular, had none for Anakin, even after being told that his mother had died. Anakin should have had private lessons with anything Force or martial related. He was held back there, in Legends he tells them as a child of how scared he is of meditation due to how powerful the Force within him was, Mace and the other masters ignored it. In fact in Legends they never supported or listened to Obi-Wan either. Obi-Wan had so much empathy for Anakin, he just lacked the experience of how to help. Sorry, that was long.

The sad thing about anakins "chip" on his shoulder was because all he ever wanted was obiwans praise, he wanted his master to acknowledge his progress and I'm came from a place of looking up to him.. when all anakin actually got was obiwan always pointing out his flaws and his over confidence even tho obiwan was always proud of anakin, he never let him see it...to anakin he felt like he can never be enough or do enough to get the pat on the back he craved...that is why it slowly turned from looking up to obiwan more into a resentment, more into the "im just as good if not better than him!! Why can't he see that!?!"... anakins need for obiwans acceptance and praise carried all the way into his vader days with this insatiable NEED to prove he can defeat obiwan!! Everytime obiwan defeated him and defeating him in the most embarrassing ways for him would drive him damn near crazy.. its like "I know I'm better than him, I need to prove to him that I'm better than him, but everytime we fight he proves the opposite is true!!" and it makes vader feels like he is just proving all of obiwans criticisms of him correct!!..its also why it's never enough to beat obiwan when he is weak and out of practice, beat him when he is old, which were the only times vader could actually win..he never was able to defeat the "clutch" obiwan who wins when it really matters.. its all really sad that anakins resentment toward obiwan comes from a self conscious place, we all know obiwan was immensely proud of anakin, he just didn't want anakin to become complacent or develop bad habit or even worse nurture any negative tendencies because he knew someone as powerful as anakin can really become of problem if led down the wrong path..in trying to prevent those thing obiwan ended leading him down the exact road he wanted him to avoid! Obiwan was the perfect "jedi" In terms of what the order had become, and he trained anakin the way he thought the order wanted and needed rather than training anakin the way HE needed. Which was less stringent rules, more catering to his emotional needs and most importantly telling him he was doin a good job and that he was proud of him a little more often than telling him what he isn't doing right, telling him it dosent matter how good he is because nobody likes a show off ect..

New teacher syndrome. Obiwan wanted to provoke him to get better, and the best way to do that with a gifted student is to say "Well, you're not that good at this." A real teacher also praises the good things, but Obi had never taught someone, or even done things on his own. He went from learner to master in the casual boredom of Yodas decree.

Considering everything, anakin lost/sacrificed, the council owes him. They purposefully held him back while promoting other padawans despite all he had done for the council. While he was trained to a jedi, he grew up a child soldier fighting in a war torn galaxy and then had a padawan shoved onto him even though it was obi wan who desired one; only to then have the same padawan, that he trained and seved with on many missions expelled for a crime she didn't commit all for mace windu to be like oh well this was your great trial now you can be a knight despite all she had done while in service of the council causing her to leave guaranteing anakin could never bring her to knighthood.
Afterwards, anakin was appointed to a position he didn't ask for only to be told no you won't be a master which was a clear act of defiance against palpatine and then was asked to spy on palptine for the council. All this on top of having lost his mother and mentor in qui gon and the council refusing to train him in the first place out of the one emotion they warned Anakin against: Fear. It's a wonder Anakin didn't leave the order like Ahsoka did. Say what you will, but Anakin was nothing but a pawn to be exploited by the council, in this, Palpatine was correct, yes, but he himself was merely using Anakin as a pawn as well. Neither side saw him for who he was but merely a weapon.
Either way, Anakin was better off without either of them and should've went with his wife to raise his children while studying the force on his own much like Luke and Ahsoka and then trained Luke and Leia.

He passed the Trial of Skill when he defeated Ventress on the Fourth Moon of Yavin.
He endured an atrocious Trial of the Flesh at the hands of Count Dooku.

This certainly is more involved than one would initially assume. Just goes to show how much quality content is in legends that Disney threw away and honestly, clone wars needs a least another season showing not only the early days of the war right after AOTC but also showing what other Jedi got up to during the war. TCW missed so much of the conflict and story and honestly the fact they're cutting back on live action and with next year being the final season of the Bad Batch it's the perfect time to flesh out the Clone Wars animation more to show such things as what this video is about.

In a way Obi Wan did fail Anakin because he was blind to Anakin's weakness. I think Mace Windu should have taken Anakin because he was powerful enough to challenge and anakin and earn anakins respect. While also not having a close relationship and therefore not blind to the training that Anakin needed to defeat the darkness within himself.
Obi Wan could only see his Light, whereas everyone else could see his darkness.

On the other hand, they should've granted him the rank of knight hood after his encounter with Dooku. He lost a limb during their duel, but he realized that this was a wake up call for him. I feel the choice to delay his training was an important one. He was full of himself. By the standards of the jedi he wasn't ready because of that. He needed time to mature to search deep into the force and find purpose that wasn't self fulfilling. He needed to learn I serve the force, not the force serves me. He never grew out of things being unfair to him instead of meditating on why things were different for him. If he would have focused on the why instead of how things were unfair he would've become a powerful jedi. I also believed he needed a master to explain that to him and to thoroughly explain why things were different for him instead of testing him when he didn't even know he was being tested at times. In short he needed to prove he was in control of himself before being knighted. And till that point he failed to do so it was all about I want I want it I want it instead of selfless service to a higher calling.

The problem with that is the Jedi didn't have a reason to hold him back. Was Anakin full of himself? Most definitely, but he'd proven his worth in a short period of time to much greater extent than numerous other members of the Jedi order. You can't spurn a person over and over again without some compensation, while rewarding another less competent individual for having the correct mind set. Any meditation he'd preform would've ultimately pointed him to the fact he was being unfairly treated out of fear. He needed to be humbled and actually taught, which Obi-wan wasn't capable of doing and every else choose to let fear and dogmatic ideology stay their hand.

Any organization that does not promote individuals of merit is doomed to fail. This is one reason the Jedi Order fell. Sadly for Anakin, Sidious treated him in much the same way. Anakin should have left the order, traveled the galaxy for a few year, looking for Jedi/Sith holos to complete his training. If the Jedi trials were supposedly the best training to separate the knights from the masters, why did Darth Maul kill so many masters? It seems some knights got promoted who had no business getting promoted. When Anakin eventually killed Count Dooku, the Jedi Council sealed their fate.

@@blu3d3vil97I think that misconception is down to Lucas not being a great writer and director.
They never wanted you to not feel and be a robot. I mean, it’s the opposite of that. To allow all emotions to be looked at, observed and felt through, much like is taught in meditation anyway.
So the Jedi should have been more openly joyful rather than so stoic, but I think it’s bad directing leading to wooden dialogue, Lucas trying to create tension, and not realising it’s makes the Jedi look emotionless, when they were supposed to be just not attached.
The Sith are really not well thought through - as they should be totally robotic (well they are bar passion - but that’s not exactly healthy).
They teach you to harness emotion to use it for a power amp. Well holding on to negative emotions (and let’s face it, they actively suppressed joy, happiness etc….). So they would have ended up heavy, emotionally wounded and just controlled by emotions…

@@blu3d3vil97 Well that’s Buddhist practise and belief. It also lines up with what psychology informed by neuroscience.
You process emotions by letting your body feel them. By doing so (most common way to do this is in a sort of mediation - put your body there, feel the feelings and they will get processed out)
Lucas talked about this, and how the Jedi way works to achieve this balance in yourself. It’s not denying emotions, it’s the opposite.
Attachment is different though. You attach yourself to people, to events etc, and you might try and control them which leads to suffering as things are not in our control.
In the Star Wars universe, this means that lack of attachment to things (you can live a person, but you need to be prepared to let them go), means you don’t get in the way of the will of the force.
Anakin fell because he wanted the power to stop the force, stop nature, from his wife dying.
The Sith actually suppress happiness etc (you can’t just get rid of emotions mate…..you can try and push them down, but they will cause unhappiness somewhere), and hold on to negative emotions to power themselves.
So I know Lucas isn’t clear here, but the Jedi absolutely feel - that’s the whole point.

You know something? I actually am a fan of the UA-cam prison genre and there’s 1 channel called Jay Williams: Let’s Live Life. On Jay’s channel there are two videos where Jay talks about inmates getting into tussles with really tough prisoners. 1 of these two stories (OR actually both of them) had a very cocky correctional officer. The difference in these stories is 1 of these was a militant, ex-military C.O. who quickly rose to the rank of Sergeant who thought his military experience literally made him tougher than all the inmates at the facility. The other C.O. who started things in his story was a rookie puffing his chest out. Well, both of them got theirs. No guess what happened to that rookie from that 1 story. But that ex-military CO, actually became a lieutenant for basically also receiving a Purple Heart (a Purple Heart is a badge that you receive if you survive a wound received during duty if you’re in something like the military. My maternal grandpa who was drafted for service in the U.S. Army during the Korean War received 1 of these). Now, while getting a Purple Heart is an admirable achievement, I don’t really believe it means it should be enough to ascend rank. And according to the storyteller, one of the other COs most likely told that 1 particular officer to leave this prisoner alone unless it really was mandatory that they transport him to isolation (apparently this prisoner was not following orders real well). Now, after the beating the cocky ex-military correctional officer received, he actually became worse towards other prisoners than he was before then. Prior to his beatdown, he would just act like a drill instructor (I actually think he was 1, as well) with a total “chip on his shoulder” with plenty of verbal abuse to go along with his militant attitude. After the beatdown, he actually didn’t do too much talking. The ex-military correctional officer, who was now a lieutenant at his current profession, was always quick to grab a prisoner and click the cuffs, just so to ensure that he would never suffer a humiliating beating like the 1 he recently received. Now moving on2 this channel’s primary subject of Star Wars: I like Anakin Skywalker a lot. But, I don’t think getting your first limb chopped off (that right there is a Purple Heart for a Jedi) should get you Knighthood (let alone without the trials [though I suppose pushing Asajj Ventress over the cliff is sufficient enough in it’s own way {though it doesn’t deserve the exposure of Obi-Wan taking away Maul’s lower body}]). Dooku, Anakin’s first maimer has quite a story as well, as does his legendary actor Christopher Lee (who’s known for playing villains such as Count Dracula and Saruman from Middle-Earth. I’ll discuss the latter a little later). Before Dooku was forced to flee his fight with Yoda, after he deactivated his lightsaber following the duel with Obi-Wan and Anakin, you’ll notice he looked a little “sad” and disappointed. Well, the 2nd word is most definitely true, but not the 1st 1. He might’ve been exasperated, thinking “Is this what my generation of the Jedi Order is offering in terms of dueling skills these days?” Well, we all know Yoda and Dooku’s (a.k.a. Darth Tyranus) Sith Master Palpatine (a.k.a. Darth Sidious) could beat the curved-hilt lightsaber wielding Count if they were asleep. Even Anakin caught up to Dooku eventually. Now, this story is interesting, from the day Dooku chopped off Anakin’s first limb, Darth Tyranus continued to have an arrogant, low opinion of the young Jedi Knight. He felt Anakin would’ve been better off with his remaining natural hand alone. Palpatine actually called Dooku out on this before his apprentice’s last duel. And speaking of Dooku’s final duel, the outcome is precious. Notice, the terrified look on Dooku’s face when he got BOTH his hands chopped off (yeah, I watch a bunch of these videos). Dooku’s mind was racing. This was extremely humbling for him and could at best b a life-changing event 4 him. He might have 2 consider abandoning his elitist personality. For he would b faced with a choice of A: Never wielding a lightsaber again (something he enjoyed) or B: Getting 2 robotic arms himself. Little did he know, until close 2 that very moment, these were all the least of his issues. Through Darth Sidious’s encouragement, Anakin basically replaced Darth Tyranus as Darth Sidious’s third apprentice: Darth Vader. Now, about Christopher Lee’s acting. The legendary actor who’s known for portraying villains also played a character in Middle-Earth known as Saruman. For those of us, who’ve seen The Fellowship of the Ring, we see Saruman hugging himself as if he was cold, after he was communicating with Sauron using an evil crystal ball object known as a Palantir. Communicating with Sauron using these (actually communicating with Sauron, period) is very taxing, not to mention toxic, on/to the body and the mind. That’s why Saruman basically was hugging himself in Fellowship, before those Orcs asked what were the orders from their master. Anyway, to end this long story: just because you get your arm hacked off, doesn’t mean you should ascend rank (in this case, go from Padawan to Knighthood). You should earn it. Yes, the Council should’ve acknowledged Anakin’s accomplishments in his training at the temple a little bit better. But, Geonosis is still not enough. Obi-Wan earned the right for Knighthood for the bisection of Maul. And I guess Anakin kinda earned the same thing by using the Force to have Asajj Ventress tumble off a cliff. Obi-Wan naturally supported his Padawan’s ascendance. Kit Fisto supported it (I actually respect Kit). And even jerky Ki-Adi-Mundi (who’s still more tolerable than Master Vrook [I am dreading the day that I might have to face him once I am ready to do a Dark Side playthrough of Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords]).
For the videos on those prison stories check out these 2 videos on the channel of Jay Williams: Let's Live Life.

Without even watching the video. Why would they knight Anakin after the battle of Geonosis, he technically defied an order from Master Windu/ the council on a technicality, ya it was Padmé who went to save Obiwan, but Anakin knew very well that the Jedi wanted her to get to safety and so he didnt mind using the loop hole, he then during the chase of Dooku wanted to stop the chase to check on Padmé after she fell out of the ship, willing to allow the new enemy leader of the CIS to escape all for personal reasons, something Obiwan without a doubt informed the council of after afterwards. And then he rushed off against Dooku offensively something the Jedi does not do, never attack, only defend. And then later on not only got defeated by Dooku but lost an arm during the fight, in the old days of the Jedi order, the final trial for a Jedi Padawan was to defeat a Sith lord. The council NEVER treated him with kid gloves, go read some of the books if you think that. There was hardly another Jedi of that era that they were more reluctant to acknowledge. On top of that he was literally bullied and shunned by the Jedi around him especially when it came to those of equal rank. Kenobi was his only friend until he got stuck with Ashoka someone HE didn't think he was ready for, and the council only pushed Ashoka onto him so hard as a means to test him. It wasn't until he saw who Ashoka was as a person that he realized that he was the best person to be her mentor because he understood her and understood what she was going to experience within the order thanks to her own talents and how that trait alienates Jedi from the order. That holds true going all the way back to Revan.

That's the thing with the elite of the elite choosing who can join them. ... They're essentially picking those worthy enough to go in battle with them in the most severe moments & ultimately watch their backs in life or death type of situations.
I can see why Anakin would have been impatient & aggravated, but it's also the clear reason why he wasn't getting what he wanted.
Plainly put, would you want someone that's always seeing himself as the star of the show having your back in a warzone sitch??
    ...
Also, I've always thought that Yoda & the council should have worked more closely with Anakin. ... He needed a master that already figured out the same type of issues he was struggling with.

They just wanted another brick in the wall, not a strong willed individual whom they couldn't control. The Order was stale and fading but pretentious enough to make many leave their ranks and join Dooku. They were jealous of Anakin's gifts so they wanted to "drown his darkness" with their moral lectures and horrible use of psychology. Ironically, that's exactly what led to his fall to the dark side, or ascension to the Sith as Palpatine saw it. It turns out that Sidious was a far better teacher than anyone left in the Order.
Bottom line, the Jedi had it coming.

@@CharismaniacJesus……I mean the Jedi has their faults, but a lot is down to Lucas not being a good director.
Sidious manipulated Anakin and ruined his life thereafter - wanting to discard him aside like he was nothing for his son in return of the Jedi.
Weird to see so much hate for the Jedi online. The space Nazi’s were not the good guys……yet seems the blame is put on the jedi’s who’s intentions where always good.
Space Hitler seems to get a pass for manipulating the entire galaxy into all out war though, and destroying the life of Anakin for his own selfish reasons…..
It’s a tragic tale, but let’s not put the blame on the victims and hero’s ay. It’s made pretty fucking clear that the sith are the bad guys.
Lucas made a story of good vs evil. No more complex than that - modern audiences might not enjoy that sort of stuff anymore, but it’s a bit far to blame the Jedi for the rise of the evil empire ffs.

There was more to it than that. Not just Padmé but also the the Jedi betrayal of his Padawan, his alienation within the Order, the deep mistrust the Council had of him, and the manipulations of Palpatine, and several other, smaller issues.
But what about the hundreds of other Padwans being Knighted early so the war? Anakin had much better feats and was far more skilled and powerful. Shows a personal bias against Anakin on behalf of the Jedi High Council.

No one ever mentions this. Nothing they could have done would have changed anything...
The prophecy was he would bring back balance to the force.
The jedi were a big group. Jus the council... yoda, mace, ki adi, etc etc so many names and unnamed jedi. And it was sidous, maul, and i guess dooku.
Anikan fullfilled the prophecy he bought the balance to the force... by the end of the purge the light and dark were balanced. Just not the way people wished.

    • @decepticonxhunter4850
      @decepticonxhunter4850 7 місяців тому +1

This is the widely believed, but still false view of how Anakin brought balance. It didn't require him to wipe out both organizations. In fact, Anakin threw the Force further out of balance by helping Palpatine wipe out the Jedi. Anakin could've(and should've) very well fulfilled the prophecy as a Jedi by helping Mace eliminate Palpatine if he didn't allow Palpatine to deceive him.

    • @lsodiumoverdosel
      @lsodiumoverdosel 7 місяців тому

@decepticonxhunter4850 that is your view on my view. But he brought it to balance. Jus like the force seems to not like SUPER weapons, the force also doesn't like either one side to dominate the other. The prophecy was fullfilled.fulfilled.
Edit for, I've heard my p.o.v from no one other than myself. No video or text.
