      @@Kholaslittlespot1 same on mine I got it in 2020 and the thumb screws were changed and glass panel installation is much easier. Still far from best in class but definitely not a direct downside anymore, just like an avg tempered glas panel that you can remove once in a while if you want to without any real trouble.
      I've contemplated drilling holes in the front plastic panel for better airflow. It hasn't been bad so far but it would be neat to have straight air passage.

    For anyone who wants to buy this case:

      Case manufacturers already know the limits of making a case for good airflow and there are plenty of options to satisfy that. All they really want at the end of the day is for your components not to throttle in normal use. Also with liquid cooling becoming more and more available good airflow becomes less and less of an issue hence why the shift in priorities. A lot of techtubers have made it seem like more of an issue than it actually is. While I appreciate the testing GamersNexus does, it doesn't take a genius to realize that the scenarios they subject their components to is not in anyway a good representation of a regular day to day usecase.

    Great video as always, thank you, although I do love the Allen key type screws that Corsair placed here, they look really cool and professional, if you have a difficult time installing the side panel just do it on horizontal position, as most people built anyway, also the "feets" of the case are lovely, it brings that HiFi device nostalgy back to the table, and they are made in a perfect cylinder shape, not a nonsense cone-like shape as Fractal Design does. I just bought this case. It was a good price and checked off all the right boxes. I do not plan on living inside my case after i build it so the trouble to remove the tempered glass is not an issue for me. Thanks for the great review. It really helped me decide.
    Update: I think this is one of the most feature rich cases in the "budget" category. Great cooling options with space for 6 fans, or two AIO; one in front and\or on top. 'The full length tempered glass is not too dark and the power supply shroud runs the entire case but does not restrict a front AIO. This really improved cable management and all the cut outs have the nice plastic pass through dust covers. You can move
    emove the hard drive cage if you choose which makes cable management even nicer. Lots of space behind the motherboard and the I|O panel is on top for easy access. The added bonus is that it does not interfere with the front panel removal. Easily serviceable dust covers, front and on top. Plenty of room inside for cpu air coolers too. Subjectively: Clean lines on a sturdy, all metal case (except the front panel) without being gaudy or feeling cheap like some with lots of plastic. Cons: The 2X Corsair fans are crap so budget for better fans. $60usd

    Is it not possible to lay the case on its side (back side opposite the glass) on a table cloth? Once sitting flat the rubber should stay located / affixed in exact pos'n held through its center by using tightly rolled up thousand dollar bills (from your existing paraphernalia) inserted into threaded holes of case as sort of guideway protruding from the case, then gently place the glass on top and remove the bills one at a time as you install each screw in NASCAR tire change seconds if you are at all a handy person. You can leave the case on it's back side if you prefer to use the glass surface and rolled bills for something else and you have the case lights to assist under low light conditions with the added bonus of no reflective floor surface concerns.

      What are you talking about? When you put a PC together, you're telling me you do it standing upright the whole time? You don't need to unplug rear cables to rest the case on it's backside. Moving your PC to a workspace? Your PC rests on a desk, you bring a small towel or cloth, place it down where the PC is, then lay the PC on its backside on the cloth, you don't move the PC. Why is everything so difficult? You realize that you had to walk - all the way to the PC before you could begin work, and I know how tiresome that can be, but maybe next time you can skip, smile and bounce, it might make less focused on all that work needed and if it does not work try humming too.

      P400S has decent front air intake. I built a system for my dad in it, and he clocked his 6600K to 4.7 just fine without any temp or noise issues.

    • @rogerj412
      @rogerj412 6 років тому

      I have a P400 and the airflow is really good despite it having a closed off front panel. I have an AIO mounted to the front and another mounted in the top. The crappy fans I'm using keep everything under 45C under fully gaming load. I've never tested without the front panel but there is still plenty of airflow.

    • @rogerj412
      @rogerj412 6 років тому

      Also I'm super jealous that your dad's 6600K would reach 4.7. If I push mine over 4.5 it just crashes, but even at 4.5 I do just fine in the speed department.

      Was going to write something similar. Got the p400 not too long ago and I love it. This one seems like a slightly worse version of the p400, especially with the stupid side panel screws the corsair case uses. Oh and to the person saying it has bad airflow. I got a ryzen 3 in it oc'd to 4.1GHz. My previous case had a mesh front panel (aerocool aero-500 )and after moving my system to the p400 the temps went up by about 3-5c. But with better sound insulation ( even on the regular model ) I just bumped my fans up slightly to get the original temps which didn't affect how quite my build is at all.

    Slightly off topic, but I purchased the Meshify C based on your review and I have to hold the glass panel while mounting it - doesn’t lock in, even with pegs. Plus, what really grinds me, it doesn’t rest flush to case when fully attached. Otherwise, quality review.

    Mine, just bought brand new, had thumb screws. The Allen key screws were in the kit. I’m assuming the Allen screws are for case security since it’s kinda unusual to be walking around with the precise Allen key
    In addition, airflow is fine. I run an 8700k with a 1070 and there’s enough side opening to pull cool air in under heavy gaming.
    Overall I’m quite happy with the case and the quality. It’s also a good understated case that doesn’t scream for attention as most do.

    You keep mentioning TG mount, but it looks, based on the Amazon pictures, that the acrylic panel mounts the same way. So removing TG does not solve the mounting issue. You could lay the case on it's side each time you open it up, but you would still loose the rubber grommets. It's amazing how there is always one thing overlooked. Thanks for another great review. Fred looked happy up there.

    Corsair updated and fixed the issue with the tempered glass also now the front glass panel comes with thumb screws with a flat head groove, and they send you extra hex screws for a back up. The front accent light gets annoying while the pc is in sleep mode; however, you can simply unplug the led on the bottom of the front of the case. I personally think this case is pretty decent and looks pretty nice. When you build your pc using this case it will be a clean build because they did a good job adding important cable management features. If you want a nice minimalistic design of a case that isn’t too fancy but has a clean look, I’d go with this case or the 275 r airflow. It really is a nice medium aesthetically if that is what you looking for.

      that is the same for 90%+ of cases released since mid 2016
      the only one which comes to mind which *WAS* designed for airflow is the Fractal Design Meshify C (the only other one is the C700P from cooler master but that was TG only and got an airflow upgrade because of the rants of shitty airflow (especially for a larger full tower with 200mm fans in the box) especially the Gamers Nexus rant on it)

    • @jugostran

      No airflow. The days of hard to clean gamery mesh are well behind us, and most Airflow cases are Sh*t ,like the RL06, witch is a terrible case from the quality standpoint, and also, 5 Degrees difference for a more quiet system is a worthwhile tradeoff.

    • @shung1te
      @shung1te 6 років тому +9

      Clearly you’re only saying this because people are starting to complain about airflow because of the Gamers Nexus review. Many cases are like this one. This doesnt even have garbage airflow. The airflow isn’t good, but it isn’t bad to the point where it’s not worth it.

    • @xs3tsunax
      @xs3tsunax 6 років тому +1

      thank you i'm not gay for expressing my thought. GN complains about lack of airflow is not necessarily the result of the case design but rather their method of testing that is extremely flawed, and because of that the case that they recommend are all essentially terrible.

    Hey mate, actually ..... You have to mount the panel like you mounted the mobo and stuff, with the case horizontal,I think. So you can aim precisely, I guess, to the mount point. I'm just not sure if the pegs would fall or not. We tend to build with the cases standing on their feet, but we shouldn't, having it flat with a bulding mat under is so much easier.

    Have a case by Cougar that is 75 with tempered glass on both sides and resting brackets for the panel that keep the glass from completely falling out when the screws are detached. The glass has to tip 45 degrees before it lets you slide the glass off the bottom bracket and has most of the same features without the airflow blocker on the front.

    1. Glue the rubber bits to the glass;
    2. Lay the case on the side to screw and unscrew the panel, you'll need to anyway for any serious maintenance;
    3. You can probably buy 4 black thumb screws and replace the existing hex screws. They are usually standard.
    The airflow did look like a downer but for 80 bucks... C'mon... It has like 50 tons of goodness in it, 5 degrees is a minor tradeoff. It's obviously not for harsh OC (not like you actually need it that much anyway) so for on-the-budget gamers it's pretty dope.

    The side panel really isn't a problem, you can glue the rubber nobs to the glass from the inside. No one will notice them + you can just flip the case on its side to attach it in half a minute.
    This case seems like the perfect middle ground for me. Cheaper than the Phanteks p400s and slightly smaller but with enough room to not make everything look too cramped. Though im still wondering how much room there would be between a cpu radiator in the front if i put in a 3 Fan GPU which im most likely going to put into my new build.

    Great informative video once again. Thanks.
    I don’t understand Corsair releasing a case which is clearly unfinished especially at this price point.
    1. If you are going to use this fixing method there should at least be a ridge along the bottom of the case to support the glass.
    2. If you’re producing a completely white case don’t make the glass perimeter black!
    3. If your going to add led lighting at this price point, make it rgb and at the very least shield the bright LEDs with frosted acrylic.
    Sorry Corsair but was this case rushed into production without quality control or test building?

    I have this case with the glass and with the acrylic. It's not that bad. I mean it's not perfect, but I guarantee you can't find a case that good for that price period. Also have the SPEC-5 and SPEC-6RGB. On those models they slightly improved the design of the panel mount rubber grommets being part of the case, helping to hold it in place while you tighten the screws. Also they come with the choice of thumbs and flat allen key on all my cases. Maybe you had missing hardware in yours.

  • @EvilWpg

    They must have made a new version because mine has thumbscrews and the glass sits in place without them for mounting purposes. I definitely like this case. Back side is a little cramped to fit all your cables though it would be nicer if it was like 5-10 mm wider overall.

    Define R6 still number one. I just picked one up a couple weeks ago and I am STILL LOVING it. Easy to build in, easy to put back together, easy to get inside to mess around with stuff, LOTS OF HARD DRIVE OPTIONS. Yes, SSDs are cheaper now, but HDDs are still the real budget king. I still don't understand why BUDGET cases only allow one or two HDD to be added.... I have 4 HDDs with a single SSD boot and key program drive and the R6 mounts them ALL so beautifully, cleanly, and simply. Also, best TG implementation in the industry to date PERIOD. Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to dress up and/or mod the HDD mounting cover panel. It's a canvas that just SCREAMS for a paint job or wrap or SOMETHING to add a little more character to my Alpha Lobo (the wolf, not the comic) build.

    I own this case: The side panel is NOT frustrating to remove, in all the reviews of this case the reviewers take the screws all the way out, then the rubber prices fall out, but you don't do that, just back the screws out a bit, the side panel is free of the case and the screw holds everything together. Also this case is beautiful. With the right build in it.
