It blew my mind when the black materia was found I almost thought it had to be a April fool's joke but finding two new glitches (choc/yuffie) so soon after is amazing.
Cloud has memories of being in SOLDIER, regardless of whether or not they're his. To him, they're still recalled in just the same way as every other memory.
I feel like there’s a lot of assumptions with that statement. I’m not saying it takes a great leap in logic to get to your conclusions, but I don’t think we have enough information to say that definitively. It could as easily be some sort of psychosis that his mind put in place as a defense mechanism. The dive into clouds subconscious while in the lid stream ads some credence to this theory as well. In that case it’s not far from what you are saying but the memories of his “trauma” were being obscured by a fiction he believed to be true. I’m just saying, and obviously I’m also making assumptions here, that I don’t know that his physical brain was accessing those memories in his hippocampus normally in that case. Undisputedly, and I think this is the point to what you’re saying (?), is Cloud believed those memories to be his and to be true at the time.
I assumed Cloud was just recalling being a regular soldier instead of a full SOLDIER. Since he has motion sickness in the real version of the truck scene
Just wanted to say that I love the time and energy that you put into this game. I played this as a kid when it came out and I still play it today. You're awesome man! I'm a total closet nerd that thinks about ff6 and ff7 constantly. Thank you for knowing this game as well as you do.
Someone in the chat there was talking about how the original PC version messed up the music. This is actually not the case--the entire soundtrack had been remastered, but for a specific audio card and setup. It sounded anywhere from alright to awful depending on most people's setups. Don't know if this influenced the recent Steam release on PC or not, but yeah--you can look around online and find where people have recorded the remastered music the way it was supposed to sound on that original release with the right setup and it's pretty good.
More specifically it's due to the PC version using straight up MIDI format music as opposed to using pre-recorded CD audio, the latter of which would take more space but sound the same regardless of audio hardware. It wasn't uncommon at all to have MIDI music in PC games around that time, even for major titles. 1997 also saw the release of Age of Empires, which IIRC had the option for either MIDI music or redbook CD audio included on the disc (I know for sure the sequel had this). FF7 was already a huge game as is spanning multiple discs, and adding CD quality audio to the first PC version would have probably required an additional data disc that would have resulted in higher manufacturing costs per unit. This combined with the fact that hard drive space was at a premium, CD-ROM drives at the time weren't guaranteed to be able to switch tracks responsively enough if you did use a separate disc dedicated to the soundtrack, and various other technical concerns means it's entirely understandable why they'd use such an approach. The Steam version IIRC still has the MIDI versions, but a quick search reveals there's a way to patch it so it can make use of the PSX soundtrack. A good intermediary step that would start being played around with eventually was tracker music files, which utilized waveform samples instead of hardware-dependent soundfonts which made them able to have unique sounds without being as large as full waveform soundtracks. Games around 1999-2000 made good use of this, notably titles like Age of Wonders and Deus Ex. Had Final Fantasy 7 been able to utilize tracker music formats, it could have theoretically, faithfully reproduced the PSX soundtrack (in a hardware-independent way) without requiring gigantic waveform music files. Any games that had "CD-quality music" baked onto the disc as a Redbook audio session (such games can have their soundtracks played by putting the disc in any typical CD player and usually skipping the first track), would have the vast majority of their disc space taken up by the game's soundtrack which would also make it impractical for games that required multiple discs. Also, waveform audio can be tricky to loop properly, because digital audio formats (both MIDI and tracker) are built they way they are, that made them easy to control the song flow, loop, and even utilize dynamic music -- which is integral for most video game music. These digital audio formats are basically just a list of instructions to "play this note for this long at this pitch", and events can be inserted into that instruction set to tell the program to jump to another point in the song (which is what's typically used to loop playback). Most game consoles utilized their own digital music formats using the same general concepts as MIDI and/or tracker music, which is why it's so easy to implement dynamic music in most games -- but less so when you get actual orchestral, pre-recorded music because that can only be represented with waveform. Some games, much later on, were able to do this by partitioning the music into multiple segments and having certain 'safe spots' that the music can switch over to another track on, or splitting up the music into multiple overlaid tracks allowing certain instruments to fade in or out, among other things. And a fairly simple method of looping is to break a waveform into two files -- an 'intro' segment, and then a 'loop' segment that seamlessly starts playing on infinite loop after the 'intro' concludes. (See The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth for a good example of waveform audio done dynamically -- the game's soundtracks are split into an intro and loop section, and further split with an additional track to overlay over the main track that plays only during tense situations. Sublevel Zero also seems like it does something similar.) Nowadays, MIDI almost always sounds cheap out of the box because sound cards are a thing of the past, and MIDI is done on a software level with the Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth as the default soundfont. But most MIDI game soundtracks can sound a lot better on better hardware, let alone hardware it was designed for in the first place, or at very least high-quality sound hardware (or a soundfont emulating it). It really makes a difference hearing the original Doom soundtrack as it would've sounded on stuff like Roland soundcanvas units.
That's cool, haha. I wonder if it would save any time since you can now do the pagoda at the same time? (I guess probably not because you'd have to do that + Diamond Weapon + Midgar raid all without materia and that sounds terrible)
Depending on how the game works internally, you might be able to get two yuffies on screen at once on an emulator, possibly an older version that’s doing some hacky stuff to get the game to run properly.
After being back at the chocobo farm, could you pick up the 2nd chocobo lure materia, take the ship to the 2nd continent and catch some decent chocobos, send them back to the farm and breed until you get a black chocobo, and then ride it back to Wutai and the airship? That way, you wouldn't need Diamond Weapon.
Will not work as I've try it as chocobo farm will not let you ride a another chocobo out on the world map when you have one on the world map and wutai quest will lock you from riding a chocobo placed on the world map!
Why...i dont get why every one thinks that you cant get off the island after yuffie takes ur stuff. Ive ALWAYS taken the water logged boogie plane back off the island. Course this is right after you get Cid. Which was on the ps og version of the game. Ran back to towns and grabbed new stuff. Seems odd if no one did that and always just jumped to the next thing.
Update the PlayStation 3 console will hardlock if you move chocobo ! . You have to fallow my ff7 tutorial double yuffie glitch PlayStation 2 console .The same double shooting chocobo glitch works with ps3 tried it today !
Can you do this double chocobo glitch in a way to get a blue and green chocobo as your two chocobos sti you can do certain sections of the game early and without having to acquire a black chocobo? (I'm thinking like how you can do certain special materia parts that require a black chocobo via the highwind glitch , but instead you alternate between your green chocobo and blue chocobo as you need to?)
Tried this yesterday, until I got to Diamond Weapon part and realized I can't do it with my speedrun party, need to hit the gym with guys before I glitch that bird.
And did y'all try to re-acquire Yuffie by combat with her and then doing her dialogue stuff again? I know that for game uses flags to determine if you've completed a section or not but wondered if, because she's not available in PMS/PHS, it would convince the game that you were able to acquire Yuffie given that the game thinks she's gone enough that it won't show her in non-cinematic cut-scenes?... Sometimes the more complex flags get re-used because they don't expect you to trigger certain things... such as the double chocobo + Yuffie side quest + CD 2 completion and CD 3 start...
I can't believe none of your chat pointed out that the dialogue is messed up (Yuffie is repeating herself) after she returns all of your Materia in the wrong order.
@4-8Productions Not being able to get on a chocobo on the world map wouldn't prevent you from getting on a chocobo from the ranch, would it? I think you'd still be able to gold chocobo over there.
That is a good question I'll have to look into it. Since you already have a chocobo out on the field, I'm not sure if it would let you take a second one.
Amazing. What happens if you try to start this with Yuffie in your party? Since you can have her in your party and as a scenario character at the same time.
Hey man I'm not trolling when I say. I once received bahamut zero on disc one when I first left midgar just right out of the section gate. I posted it on Reddit once but of course people thought I was just effin around. I thought that there were special requirements to unlock it or whatever but psx original copies are very glitchy. So maybe that's that

Yuffie mastering her shadow clone jutsu materia..
"Cloud wouldn't give me the 2x cut materia, so I had to do this."
Kage bushin no jutsu :)
It's so awesome that 22 years later people still find gun glitches in this game. Can't wait to see what crazy stuff people find in the FF7 remake.
Love how you guys still finding glitches in the game!

I was about to make the same comment.

I need to spend more time with these ppl. Y'all my ppl. This is cool
Some of that dialogue got repeated like, 3 or 4 times. That was great
23:35 shes gunna be in the back tied up but somehow still in the fight
Me: shadow clone no jutsu!!
Proof that a game can have bugs and still be amazing.
Love how calm Vincent is while they are being attacked & materia being stolen
He one of the few that can talk to Diamond Weapon that way.
We’re never going to run out of silly glitches in FF7 are we?
The games code is held together by used bubblegum.
2024 here to report that nope, not yet!
This is great. The dialogue at 26:57 is so messed up, haha.
I though there was gonna be 2 Yuffie in the party... sadness.
Wow, Death keeps cranking out the glitches!!!
Cool. I never got this side quest so had no idea that Corneo returns.
I was more impressed/surprised that Aeris was still selectable in the PHS than Yuffie, WTH bro?
12:33 have you tried to disable those flags after getting Yuffie, and then fight her again with herself in the party? I have so many questions.
Yuffies dialouge was repeating in the scene where she gives your materia back.
22 years old game and still finding glitch? Omg 😂
@Keven Soucy
This only means that a lot of people is still playing this game or at least, a few people still play it.
Well now that i platinumed it. Probably wont play it again.
@摩天楼オペラ
I doubt it! There's a remake coming, if that counts. 😀
Nah just this version i mean. Remake preordered cloud and all
Whenever I see a video from Death with the word "glitch" in the title I just think "oh look, he found ANOTHER one!" haha!
Diamond weapon on map and Yuffie quest not done? Hmm... that's exactly how the 100% category run has those two events placed.
That's cool, haha. I wonder if it would save any time since you can now do the pagoda at the same time? (I guess probably not because you'd have to do that + Diamond Weapon + Midgar raid all without materia and that sounds terrible)
I was really looking forward to seeing you fight the diamond weapon with no materia.
I like them people in the chat talking about getting beat up by rapps on their first run through. I was loaded up on those swift bolts & stuff.
Wow this is a crazy one. What a find!
ever since I saw you showcase that glitch u had me wondering what could be done with it :D now I gotta test out some stuff!
thanks for the share
Dat dedication to this beautiful mess of a game
GET THIS MAN TO 100K
"Hey, Diamond weapon, shut up! I'm trying to explain stuff!"
That's how trivial Diamond weapon is. XD
From reading your twitch chat, I vote in-favour of calling it "Choco-portation" when you mount a chocobo by fighting the Zolom or exiting the Farm :D
You can use Yuffie to do Materia Smuggle Glitch using the double Yuffie glitch.
The game that keeps on giving
I don't know what is wrong with me but I watched this video again feeling like it's my first time seeing this video/game.
Nyuck, nyuck! You can't escape from me! All of your materia is mine!
How many years has the game been out now? Still new glitches/features. Awsome video bro. Keep up the amazing work ^^
These videos are absolutely hilarious, I love how broken ff7 original is!
Depending on how the game works internally, you might be able to get two yuffies on screen at once on an emulator, possibly an older version that’s doing some hacky stuff to get the game to run properly.
Yuffie's like "I CAN'T LET MYSELF GET AWAY WITH THIS!"
Macgyver is awesome Burn Notice felt like a modern version with more action.
The Yutai Sidequest with Wuffie.
*Yes.*
After being back at the chocobo farm, could you pick up the 2nd chocobo lure materia, take the ship to the 2nd continent and catch some decent chocobos, send them back to the farm and breed until you get a black chocobo, and then ride it back to Wutai and the airship? FFVII weeb% :, finishing the game with Cloud and two Yuffie
I find it hilarious that Yuffie, apparently, steals her own materia as well. Lmao
this is gold
I fucking love you bro!
Oh wow with this many glitches you might have to do another glitch video lol
Wait hold up. Did you just bring a chocobo on the highwind
Cids probs mad at cloud XD
Wait a minute - why is the music from Man with the Machine Gun? 24:47?
Just something I do to my game to avoid a false copyright claim on UA-cam. It doesn't effect the game in any way.

24:50 What is that song?! I know I have heard it before but I can not seem to remember from where.
Final Fantasy 8 battle theme during the Laguna story lines
Thanks! I heard it on a midi format on a website like years ago playing runescape.
What happens if you yuffie warp to the boss fight of the yuffie side quest?
@4-8Productions Not being able to get on a chocobo on the world map wouldn't prevent you from getting on a chocobo from the ranch, would it? I think you'd still be able to gold chocobo over there.

It look like the only the chocobo farm /Zolem / Yuffie will trigger the glitch .I've tried Vincent gettimg him to the cave and nothing happen .
Awe man, I wanted 2 Yuffie's in my party. ;(
3rd character rarely does anything... You should try this again with Yuffie as the 2nd character. Lol
What happens if there's not enough room in your materia list when Yuffie gives them back to you?
UPDATE we can now do the double yuffie glitch without diamond weapon on the world map.
see youtube video ua-cam.com/video/By42TF1hgm0/v-deo.html
Amazing. What happens if you try to start this with Yuffie in your party? Since you can have her in your party and as a scenario character at the same time.
it will not work with one chcoobo.I've tried it !!!
wait until tomorrow lite bronco !!!
please put a link to some of my video's .welcome to my ff7 room 101.

i know is not the topic of the video but is this a good combination for Ruby/Emerald ?(w-magic)=(quadra magic) (quadra magic)= (hades) (W-Summon)=(Mime), ( KoTR)=(hp absorb)
i think you would cast 4 hades and 1 KoTR and then use mime that would be 4 hades and 1 kotr per turn

I thought cloud was in SOLDIER, he was just a low-rank, rank and file infantryman?
Idk, that whole reveal still confuses me. Lol
Cloud failed to become a SOLDIER, I believe because his mind and body couldn't handle the Mako and Jenova cells, but he still became a Shinra military foot-soldier.
Cloud had a psychological break when his hero turned evil and destroyed his faith in him as well as his entire hometown. After that he was experimented on and that messed him up even more. Add all this to the fact that he failed at getting into soldier his childhood dream bc he was too weak. Too weak just like when he couldn’t save tifa on mt nibel. His psyche couldn’t handle it so he essentially made up a past that his brain could handle. Basically he took zachs life and made it his own...
Does the game also prevent you from entering Highwind after you have landed in front of Wutai with Yuffie in party (at 15:00)?
Sanji in the thumbnail
(Sorry I been watching too much One Piece lately)
How do you have aeris?
Aerith in the party in disc 3??
I thought Cloud was in Soldier, just didn't make it to first class.
No he was just a common grunt (with a gun).
David Cole
Better then a grunt with a billy stick
What happens if you beat the pagoda with double yuffie active?
you get the leviathan summon I've tried it !
It's funny cuz her & Godo have their whole reconciliation talk at the top, but then they still squabble in Godo's house as part of the materia sidequest.
Didn't you trigger the duplication glitch by accident here?
8:50 Dee doot du du du da.. played ff7 a few times have we?
Didn't FF15 pronounce chocobo both ways?

Do double Chocobo glitch than go into highwind than run into ruby, than land and go to gold saucer, go to chocobo races and
if its not on original ps1 i wont accept it. pc version can be edited, modded, etc
