Zach W now Dan works for The Athletic I doubt carrying on is an option. I’ve worked for big American companies like that and they view all of your intellectual property/creativity as their own. No way would they want dan freelancing elsewhere.

Our defensive errors have actually got worse as the season has progressed. After 10 or 12 games our goal difference was very good, much better than those teams around us, but we have let this slip !!
I was so annoyed after we lost, next day I thought about how we played and there are some positives but these mistakes have been made since we played Spurs on the first game of the season. Also we were crying out for a striker and rightly so, but our defending is shocking, 50 goals conceded and we never at any point look like a solid defensive unit. Nakamba came on and showed how much levels he is above Drinkwater, never known such a pointless signing in my life, apart from making the numbers up it's like playing with 10 men.

I don’t know why Smith is blaming the VAR for the Tottenham penalty. It was a clear penalty and I’m saying this as a Villa fan. I’ll probably get abuse for my opinion but it’s only because I’m not biased and if the other team deserve something I’ll say it whether people like it or not. ☘️☘️🇮🇪

I don't think we should sugarcoat things - Douglas Luiz missed an absolute sitter to make it 2-0, completely different game if that goes in. Tyrone Mings has to stay fit between now and the end of the season, for us to stand any chance of staying up. The service in to Samatta has to be slightly better for me. Also, Hourihane or Nakamba need to come in for Drinkwater - who looked totally out of his depth on Sunday. No idea what DS see's in training from Drinkwater. I would drop Hause and keep Engels in against Southampton. Last season we went on a crazy run after beating Derby County 4-0 on March 2nd 2019. March 1st 2020, we have Citeh in the cup final - I wonder if that could be a catalyst for our season. Great podcast and it will be severely missed. UTV(V).
Grealish also needs to stay fit. Drinkwater I wonder if Chelsea only loaned him with a view to him playing a certain number of games.
Thanks lads. I really wish that you had‘ve been able to make a living doing this gig but it was not to be. I hope Villa give you a good send off as I think some of the turn around in the mood of the club can be put down to your optimism and rationale. It has also improved the relationship between the fans and the club / players. Best of luck in the future.

Good pod guys. Agree with Drinkwater comments. He wasnt needed as a signing with the system we switched to. He offers a lot less than Connor, or we play another winger and have Jack behind Samatta. I love Deano but his decision making and stubbornness are going to cost us. We say the team needs to grow and learn from mistakes, well so does the coaching staff. One thing Bruce used to annoy us with was his attitude to being correct all the time, Smith needs to not follow the same path. Drinkwater needs dropping and defence needs to do the basics

The high line is too risky against teams with pace and the Villa midfield isn't quick enough to get back quickly enough. Plus, look how quickly the Spurs players reacted to the penalty save compared to the Villa players. Aagh!

Neil Gilder hause is our best defender with winning duals in the air.

Hause carnt pass engels was one of our better players at start of season looked good alongside mings something has to change leaking to many goals

Drinkwater. Effort was indeed there. The talent would probably be there if he wasn't so out of shape. To me, he was clearly treading water after 30 minutes and couldn't hack the pace. Probably 8-10 games away from being close to match fit. We haven't got the time for that.
Good podcast guys. Didn't disagree with any of your points. We need to go revert to a back four as letting Chester go has left us short in central defence.

Why is Smith avoiding critism guys on the podcast some of his decisions and tactics been questionable.Agree the players a to blame individual errors,but buck stops with him.
Daniel Borg I think that's harsh if Engels doesn't miss the ball and Luiz scores we're all right behind dean show some respect for the man who got us here
@@georgeharrison3778I have respect , but his not immune to critism just because he got us up. We have seen the same mistakes and poor defending week after week.If it was a couple of games so be it and aren't tho 50 goals conceded average of 2 a game that's the facts.

Villa played really well, Reina legendary. The Engels mistake stems from an unnecessary challenge on an unmarked Douglas Luis by Borja Baston. Why on earth was he brought on? Samatta was brilliant. If we keep this level up relegation is impossible. I still dream of what Aston Villa would look like under Mauricio Pochettino though.

It was a penalty but what annoyed me was the fact at their place we didn’t get a penalty for the foul on McGinn at 1-0 up

For me we played well but the same old mistakes which again comes down to coaching, don’t know what terry is doing but they are making the same mistakes and I don’t see those problems improving.
Villa players were leg less. Last. 15 minutes. Hanging on with 15 minutes to go is to long.. Players have to be brave and keep getting on the ball rather than boot it back to spurs to come back at you. The mistake for the 3rd was simply down to tiredness

We need someone to coach concentration. IMO that's the one thing that has let us down most this season, if it was me I'd have two things in massive letters on our changing room wall - CONCENTRATE and CLEAR THE BALL. And it's not just Drinkwater and Engels (both of home played ok... apart from odd errors), Grealish and Mings have been as guilty of this as other 'lesser names'.
A year ago, after losing at home to Albion, promotion was written off. Like now we were all down. Could Villa stage a revival and survive relegation? Sadly probably not. Hope springs eternal though, you never know. Boy do we need McGinn right now. Sad this channel is closing. Remember it's birth in the grim days of the relegation season. Matt giving his match post mortems from his uni room lol! Can't help feeling, given the channel's popularity, that it could have been continued somehow. Were there really not replacements out there to keep it going? Born in a relegation season, ending in a ... come on Villa, cut out those mistakes please and win some games pleeease!

And those questioning JT's role, he is not responsible for the way the team play - That's on Smith. So he has to coach within those parameters. Smith's style of football is to attack and play on the front foot. You can't then expect to be a tight, solid unit that is difficult to breakdown. Especially with a new squad - Just look at how many goals City, Spurs and Chelsea concede for example, who play a similar style yet are elite football teams with players that are used to each other. JT will be working with the defensive unit on how they play in and out of possession within a framework set out by Smith's philosophy. Let's also acknowledge that most, if not all of them have improved as individual players in the short time that they have worked with JT - Mings, Konsa, Hause and Targett definitely have for me.
Re Drinkwater, he is a very good footballer but not match fit. You can see that he's trying to make things happen which you have to when you attempt to take the game to the opposition. He could sit in there and pass backwards and sideways all day without losing the ball but he's actually trying to be brave and bypass the oppositions press - You are always likely to give the ball away playing that way but it is risk/reward, something that Smith is big on. Same goes for Luiz.

It would be great if you could get an ex Villa player in to help with the podcast. Surely you guys must know someone from our illustrious past that still lives in the area?
Engels lost his place after very poor performances against Leicester and Southampton. Technically he's OK but he lacks the pace required to play Smith's style of football, especially without Mings next to him. If Mings was fit Sunday then I think Villa would have taken 3 points, it was a huge blow losing him late on. I think Smith will stick with the 3 with Mings fit, McGinn returning will make a significant difference to that formation too. For me we were always targeting 17th this season and we are on track, barring a freak result at the Etihad tonight. I think we'll be OK, but only just - I can see 4 wins coming against Southampton, Wolves, Palace and Newcastle with 3 more points in the form of draws (Sheff, Chelsea, Arsenal, West Ham potentially) - This would give us the magic 40 and if we go down with that total, can we really complain?! 25 points at this stage in any other recent PL season would've seen us sat around 12th.

I imagine if the subscribers had kept going up then maybe Dan would of found another person to take the reigns from Tom on a weekly basis. As the Villa View is so popular amongst us Villans have you guys thought about the possibility of making a transition to a couple of other Villa fans who are hungry to get into the podcast game? (not counting Rollo's podcast) They could keep the Villa View name, have Dan on now and again and if West Midlands based could have the Podcast coming straight out of Brum if not from Villa Park itself? I would imagine there are plenty of offices and rooms that Villa Park would be able to put on for free for a weekly all things AVFC fan show. It would be interesting to get a reply to these questions Tom and Dan. I'm just brainstorming here by the way...UTV
I have said this many many times already, we have on our coaching one of the Greatest centre backs in Premier League history J.T what on earth is he telling them to do on the training pitch, every time we conceed a free kick or corner kick we look uncomfortable, and cannot seem to deal with it, Drinkwater is absolutely dreadful the man could NOT break into a then poor Burnley team and we go and sign him on loan, i just cannot see where our next win is gonna come from, Jack Grealish is far too good for the team and is the only one who gives 100% in every game, the other players dont seem interested.
Smith chops and changes the team each week, his tactics are very questionable also his subs kill us at times.
Drinkwater will be fit by the end of the season, so Villa will have done another team a favour for next season! He just reminds me of a tortoise, totally unfit!

Grealish was the best player on the field against Spuds by a country mile with your socks rolled down. Football is a game that rewards teams for having average competent players. Having weak links will cause you to lose games. Having 3-4 exemplary players does not win games ( compare the squads of Arsenal v Chelsea, Palace vs Sheffield Utd and West Ham v Burnley and see that having 1 or 2 weak links in the team results in about 8 league places dropped). I’m not sure the Villa heirarchy understand that. Having a superb goalkeeper is the only position that will win you games. Bedding players in makes them weak and makes a team prone to lapses of judgment. These are the reasons Villa will get relegated this year.
Don’t stop the podcast. You can get someone else on some weeks and do a video call some weeks
