It looks like a regular self healing cutting mat to me, if you search for that I'm sure you'll find one. The cheaper ones don't heal so well and the surface doesn't seem to give as much. You're probably looking at about £7 or so for A4 size, I think that was A3, so likely around £10 maybe?

Today I tried to make the sides with filing and sanding, I was very scared, but it became super smooth! I'm working on a book of 'only' 208 pages, measuring 15 by 20 mm.
What kind of stitching method did you use? I'd tried to make a similar small book but used fevicol glue for sticking the pages (I didn't fold them, but rather had single sheets). It came out well but some pages were coming out. I think stitching them would be better. Execellent book though!

What can be used to make the paper equal everywhere besides that metal thing you had?
im pretty sure you can use regular sand paper but make sure to glue the sand paper to a block for better grip
