No no no, it was his mother fault for forcing her son to marry a woman he didn’t love. She hated the girl because she was poor and her father a shoe maker. Usually in the Chinese Imperial System it was pretty much the rule for the Crown Prince to have a Crown Princess with a high ranking status (ie. Daughter of High Ranking Official, Noblemen, Dukes)
It makes sense for Lady Yun to just be a concubine based on her family's social standing.
Only in rare cases could a concubine actually end up becoming Empress as well (eg. Empress Wu Zetian, Empress Dowager Cixi)
We have to understand that back in those days, they weren't really supposed to marry for love, they married to uphold imperial status.
So all in all a bit disappointed in him for not visiting her at least once whilst she was severely sick and then not really caring about her passing when he brought his son to his parents. Such a shame really. He really should have seen his parents with out the child. Honestly none of their children are fit to be rulers.
The mistress was not a good woman for him (at least by that time standard). Women in the past were not supposed to flirt with man before marriage, which she did. The empress didn't really mind her background, but her attitude. She had given her a chance by meeting her before he married, but she gave a very bad impression.
Over all this...He doesn't look like he feels any remorse and that is heart-breaking🥺🥺
Even if the Crown Prince didn’t love the Crown Princess the Crown Prince should’ve taken good care of her and respected her as his wife.
