The Gel Couture line actually looked pretty accurate when the theme was the 70s. I grew up during that decade, and there was an evolution toward darker colours after the bright neon in-your-face colours that were popular during the 60s, and away from the natural softer more neutral colours that became associated with older people. We were wearing darker, earthier, more saturated colours, and there wasn't really a correlation with seasons.

I do LOVE listening to you describe the colors, girl you are amazing! I can tell you have a true artist mind, do you paint? Your descriptions of polishes you even claim you don't know how to describe, really paint a beautiful picture on what the color truly looks like. It also makes me so more aware of color, like grape purple or pretty pink, probably isn't the very best way to describe colors! Thank you for being so amazing!

Chevron trend is nice for me. I’m a “mature” woman and my skin tone does well with the blue side of reds (winter colors). It could be nice as a regular every day standard for me. I’m old enough that the pales and especially the pinks look a bit silly at times.

I'm a guy that has painted my nails with clear polish for many years. I decided to start using color, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Diving into the nail polish genre of UA-cam, yours is the only channel I've subscribed to. I particularly love your color descriptions and watching how you paint your nail seemingly perfect every time gives me a goal to shoot for, so I don't end up with nail polish on everything besides my nails!

Essie has been my fave for cremes for several years now! I haven't tried expressie (Sally Hansen's quick dry seems similar in quality and cheaper) or "gel" couture (honestly this one is probably just because the bottle shape would store weird lol). But their regular line is perfect and I usually get 2-coat opacity in the colors I have! Very cute for a basic mani or skittles💚

    • @dovahqueen4607
      @dovahqueen4607 2 роки тому +1

Honestly, the Sally Hansen quick dry is very similar in quality to the Expressi polishes, and I feel like the packaging is better quality. The Expressi line frequently has wonky brushes like Kelli ran into in this video, and it makes application frustrating. The regular Essi cream line is lovely though. :)

The Gel Couture line is excellent in terms of quality!! The twisted bottle shape and brush stem to me symbolize a fashion dress swirling and twirling in the wind... and the brush stem makes it so that polish doesn't drip down the stem as much during application. Functional AND metaphor-ic!!

I love this huge swatch and review, and the chance to look at all the Essies across the three lines. I'm a huge Gel Couture fan, and I agree, the colors/seasons are always confusing with that line. The Gel Couture Summer '22 makes more sense for the season; lots of shimmer and brightness. TFS! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜💅

I started googling it as soon as Kelly said they were cruelty-free becuase I was sure they weren't. As you said there is a lot of conflicting information online.. My takeaway is that the new releases are vegan and cruelty free but they are still under the umbrella of L'Oréal which is not cruelty free.

Hi Kelli! Interesting collections. I loved the great coverage in the majority of them, and those greens are lovely. Thanks for revisiting Essie. It made me want to try again their classic colors, such as Ballet slippers. I wonder if their formula has been updated as well, and whether the brushes have been updated too. I wonder what Queen Elizabeth thinks about that X-D

Can confirm, I have a Ballet Slippers with a wide brush and decent formula! Got it in 2021. Other classics like Mint Candy Apple, Wicked, Bikini So Teeny, Off Tropic are similar stories! All of the ones I mentioned are clean two-coaters (you could totally wear Off Tropic in one, Wicked can get away with one if you wear a topper) and I love the coverage.

Kelli, I think the Pattern Play collection looks beautiful for spring and summer 2022. I was just browsing some online stores' catalogs in search of dresses, in preparation for a commencement ceremony I will be attending in two weeks. Many of these dresses had patterns consisting of little flowers of intense colors on a white background.
Having said that, I oppose buying a dress to use only for three months. Although, maybe having a matching nail polish shade could make people keep their dress for longer? Anyway, great review. I don't know why I am rambling so much today. Have a lovely day!

omg yeah... it kinda does look like the créme version of "bikini so teeny" it's honestly my fave to pair up with flakie holo taco, or just on its own, mostly because it has silver flecks in it, making it a kinda unique polish to my collection.
and of course, another amazing review Kelli, I actually love to throw a swatcher review of yours on when I paint my nails, and I just love that you aren´t "brutally honest" but just honest and pointing out things about the polish that users may not hear from the brand itself. love your videos, lots of hugz

Electric geometric and Chevron trend remind me of the nail color Drew Barrymore wore in the movie Music and Lyrics. I know it is a total left field out of nowhere reference, but her nail color was so pretty and springy pink-red-coral it just stands out to me as a perfect spring fun color. But if anyone knows a what color she wore I'd love the help.

I thought most of these were perfect for Fall instead of Spring. The Gel Couture line lasts longer than the regular line. I haven’t bought many in the Expressie line because the ones I’ve tried didn’t hold up well.

The Essie Gel Courture line is GORGEOUS, but I'm going to wait until fall to buy a couple of those. Not sure why they released those as spring colors. Odd. The Essie Espressie "Daily Grind", I have that one thinking it would be a good spring cream instead of a white and its more of a fall color. I think I like it, just not right now.

Still catching up on a few of your videos and I'm not sure if you'll see this but I absolutely LOVE how genuine you are! I look forward to hearing your answers/thoughts at the end and this one was especially adorable! 🥰 Also, there's something so soothing about your voice I could listen to you for hours which is something that slightly disappoints me about the podcast... The episodes are so short! 😅 I know you're watching LOTR in smaller sections but I love longer podcasts because I can slowly listen to them a little each day therefore it takes me about a week to finish and then a new one is uploaded. However with yours I'm done in two days and am then so sad I have to wait for another. 😭 If you do see this sorry for the slight rant. 🤭🤦🏽 Love your content!

I love essie Gel Couture couture formula because it lasts super long without chipping, but I really really hate the spiraly bottle. It's the worst to store and takes tons of space! Also their colors are more neutral (aka boring) than the other lines, so I stick to the original line. Thanks for the great review!

I really loved alot of these. Two from the "gel" ones I can't even remember the colors. Still, it is so many things I found out to late in life. One thing I can think for sure is my aunt's name wasn't "Aunt Dimple" no one actually told me her name was Cynthia I swear I was in my late twenties and never asked. Lol

The application is very easy and I love the self leveling, but I get bubbles every single time. It gets thick fast. Also, I stop using speed setter topcoat, because it shrinks the polish.

Hi Kelli! I am just recently into nail polishes and very new on what steps i should take to get a perfect nail color finish. I learned a lot watching your video on how to apply and work the brush on the nail. I have to ask if you applied base coat or top coat to your nails when you do them and also, when you apply second and third coats, do you wait for the first coat to dry up or do you apply coats while the nail polish is still fresh? Any feedback and guidance you can give me would be very helpful! 🙏

I'm confused on calling these Essie's Spring collections because Swoon in the Lagoon was released last November and Pattern Play was released in December. The Spring collections are Spring 2022, Fashion Fete and Target Movin' & Groovin" It would explain why these are mostly darker colors. With that said, thanks for reviewing these!

Orange is my favorite color and vermillion my favorite shade so those vibrant red/orange colors are right up my alley! I'm not a big fan of those putty greens and now that I'm playing The Sims 3 again, I'm seeing a lot of those dirty greens and I like them less and less. I also like that vibrant blue from the Essie Classic line.
