- Hello, in this video we are doing a city tour of Rotterdam, The Netherlands. We are driving past some of the hotspots of Rotterdam.
Rotterdam is, after Amsterdam, the second-largest city in the Netherlands, with over 580k people. Rotterdam boasts the largest harbor in Europe and is also one of the most important harbors for the continent. In this video, we enter Rotterdam via Feyenoord, driving past the football stadium of Feyenoord Rotterdam. We then proceed across the Erasmusbrug into the city center, passing through West-Blaak, Hofplein, Kruiskade, and West-Kruiskade. The video was recorded on a cold but sunny winter day.
If you are intrested in the whole route we drove in this video, then you can view it in the link below:

I've worked hard on this video, i edited the almost all the waiting time for traffic light out, and put some effort in the thumbnail. I hope you like the video! Please let me know in the comments.

Such a beautiful city
@weedtaker Do you prefer Rotterdam over other Dutch cities like Amsterdam or Utrecht?
@@drive-the-roads Of course. I have to admit, when it comes to beauty, no Dutch city can hold a candle to Amsterdam or Delft, but that’s more or less all they do; they look good. I find Rotterdam much more interesting than Amsterdam or any other Dutch city and, therefore, Rotterdam is my favorite. You simply have to explore Rotterdam and not just drive through it :)
@@BardTheWeedtaker Yes but the beauty of the cities like Amsterdam and Delft is only because during the war these cities weren't bommed off the map. But thanks, i'll definitly explore the city further more!
@@drive-the-roads Yes, unfortunately, Rotterdam was almost completely bombed in 1940. Rotterdam looked so beautiful back then, as can be seen in some videos from before 1940. But Delfshaven, for instance, still has some beautiful old buildings. In contrast to many other (German) cities that were bombed during the Second World War, the city has rebuilt itself very nicely with many modern buildings/skyscrapers instead of building ugly concrete houses …
are they passing a lot of orange/red lights or is it my idea?
Well some people are definitly skipping the red lights, but here in the Netherlands the trafic lights are regulated very strictly, when you get a red light the other side directly gets a green light, thats why it looks like its all very close and everyone drives through red or orange but they are not.
@@drive-the-roads oh okay thanks for the information but why risk it like that, I mean you will get a fine or cause an accident. Is the police strict or not with those kinds of things?
Seen little of the city center, barely anything of R'dam-West. Didn't see the main roads of R'dam-Zuid. And seen nothing at all of R'dam-East, R'dam-North, the Van Brienenoord-bridge
Okay. So this was not really a video to take nice pictures of the city. (Which the city is quite suitable for) That is of course not possible with a webcam. Nevertheless I enjoyed the footage
Hi Huub, correct, its not really a good video to take nice pictures of the city. At this stage I was still trying some things out with the audio and lens of the GoPro. My latest video's are recorded from the outside of the car with the new GoPro and these video's are way much nicer. I'll see if I can make a new video of Rotterdam with the new style of recording. I'll remember your other comment and try to get more of Rotterdam-West, East and North. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

but, but car?! I see cars!
my local city planning communist was telling that dutch have abolished all cars and therefore they are super happy!
He is closer to the truth than you might imagine, but Rotterdam is pretty car heavy as far as dutch cities go.
What a soulless city.
Agreed, its not my favourite city.
Better Than Dubai
I think it is a beautiful city, but indeed it has no soul, we are trying to make a new one. The old one has been blown to bits by the germans
@@hjvdd I have to give credit, I think the city is working really hard to improve, there is still a lot to do and to improve but you can really notice that they do the best they can.
im in rotterdam, its a nice city but too many immigrants i think. so some areas are dirty
