KQi3 Review: • NIU KQi3 Pro Electric ...
all scooters should be protected against water all of them, it's a disaster to buy a scooter you can't ride in the rain.
is this scooter protected against water?
@@klentbren yes
You can ride this scooter in the rain
@@andrewmoltisanti2948 Light showers only, not on puddle
Dualtron Minimotors is robbing customers with those prices too especially with no water resistance of type
Just got one and the app does now include the option to do a zero start acceleration. I ride with my younger kids on their little segway scooters, I like that I can set my max speed to 10mph so I can match their max speed.
I got this on sale for $420 and i have officially exceeded 1000km and it's still going strong. I love this scooter, it's an excellent way to get around town without driving, especially in rush hour traffic and saves me money on gas! One of the main reasons I wanted to get an escooter. I rode around detroit on some bird scooters when me and my friends went to go chill over there and go urban exploring and I've enjoyed them ever since.
Fantastic video, really nicely produced and very informative! Having ridden both this and the KQi3 Pro, can you please tell me if you remember which has the higher handlebars? The specs actually show the KQi2 Pro does but it's hard to tell in the videos and I'm concerned about bending down too far to reach them. At 6'4 and size 12 shoe, looking to see which one would be a better fit, as well as which would suit someone 5'5 better. Thank you very much!
I just got mine 1 week ago. I really like it, well built, but lately I've been getting error 42. Still rideable, but sad that this is happening in less than one month of use. Been carefully riding it. I'll see how NIU resolves it. Contacted them through email.
how did you contact them? I could only find contact info through their chatbot which doesn't give me much confidence.
Please provide us with an update on your inquiry.
Email their support and it is good. So far I do not get the error message anymore so I'm still able to ride it. Got less of a week to decide if I want to send it in or not.
@@mjawad6765 They accepted my return. The customer customer service is excellent through their email system. I would buy from them. Just maybe later down the road though I will get one.
Do you know what apps does this scooter used?
Just wanted to say I appreciate your vids - just picked up a couple of these for me and my wife! (On sale too for $370 each 🎉)
Same picked one up at Best Buy for $410 out the door
Man you got a better deal than me, I also got mine on sale (best buy) but it was $420
There is an option for zero start on the app
for some reason my kqi2 pro now no longer requires kick to start... no idea what's that about.
Also discovered the cruise control feature mid-ride, which was a little freaky for a split-second, but nothing horrible.
I think 🤔 the kick2start feature is a safety feature to protect the rider from accidentally gasn off. So it takes intentionality to start the motor But a bad idea in emergency situations. Great video tho
The reason they make you do the tut with each new scooter you buy is because all scooters have to have that feature regardless of whether you have done it or not. Also, you could have bough the scooter as a gift and let someone use your account, or maybe you share the account with a sibling or friend. It makes sense. It's really no big deal. They have no way of confirming if it's literally you getting on the new scooter.
Another example, my brother doesn't use cell phones. So if he got a NIU he'd need to do the tutorial using my account. There are many reasons to redo the tut.
Hi RK9, I live in Canada so snowing is a bit of an issue. I was wondering if you have any scooter recommendations for snowy weather, not like inches of snow but like a sidewalk that was cleaned of snow and has a bit of salt on it.
i dunno. that sounds risky. especially with black ice on the streets. maybe look into different types of tires for it.
This scooter does have a zero start option I got mine yesterday and all the reviews say it's only kick start but in the app you can disable that. To give credit though that might have been a feature they added recently and not when the reviews took place
My kqi3 is still very solid with no creaking noises. I too have the issue with the tutorial popping up every time I open the app.
After the most recent updates, the scooter moves forward without kickstart 👍🏻
Does it move forward without kick start
Overall very happy with purchase
With gas prices nowadays, I’m gonna have to pick one of these up in the near future 🤣
just bought one for the same reason. im done spending 60 bucks for a tank
pick it up now bruh
This was a helpful video. I haven't ridden a motorbike for at least 30 years now and was considering getting one in my old age. lol Now I am looking at these scooters instead.
@rk9 rides Just found your channel and love the reviews. If you don't mind me asking, where in Utah are you? The scenery and housing is beautiful. I live in Anchorage Alaska and some areas there remind me of here. Keep up the great work. Gained a new sub. 👍
Hi, what do you think about Kukirin G2 MAX?
I’d kinda prefer the hiboy s2 pro, it’s just faster, more powerful, and it’s nicer to use. The scooter also has 0-start options.
And this one does
Would you say to grab this one at 450 or the 3 at 680? I know there are some small upgrades over there 2 when going to the 3 but not sure which way you’d lean
Thats what im trying to find out as well
I have the 3 and I’d say it’s worth the difference on build quality alone. The kqi3 is a tank!
I’m new to your channel. I was wondering if you have a favorite everyday scooter?
Is there much of a difference between this than the cheap version of the KQI3?
I can't even shut off the headlight. I double tap it and it only goes to highbeam and regular
Hey man….do you think a 5’1” female would fit this scooter maybe the handle bar is too high?
You don't need a phone to use the scooter. Just for some of the functions. One of them being the ability to quickly e-lock it.
Hi, anyone know how to make it ride more than 25km/h ?
I know it s forbiden in the street, but i ride on private road
Thanks
Can you do KQI2 VS Hiboy s2 pro ? I can't decide between the two.
Hiboy is better. Motor is 500W and a 700-800w peak. The range is more. Uses a 11.5 amp battery, rear suspension The only issue you may have is the 10" solid tires a little rough ride.
@@cameranmanner4701 Thanks for summing it up. That helped me make my decision
Looking for a neighborhood cruiser for my wife... Would you go with the KQi2 Pro for $419 or the HiBoy S2 Pro for $375?
I prefer the KQi2 Pro
Is there a fell safe to keep it from catching fire ?
What is the difference between the 2 and 3? Which would you recommend?
3 has an improved built, longer range, dual brakes, larger space for the foots, and that's all i remember
Just got the scooter...won't turn on and the brake light is on when charger is plugged in. Is this normal (the brake light when charging)?
I'm in the same situtation right now.. any solution?
Plug it in, and it will allow you to turn it on. Then you have to do a quick tutorial.
Im from kuwait i have m365 as my ride to work. Can you recommend a scooter that faster but cheap or if you idea to increase the speed of my m365
hi bro can u do a review the FLJ T113
i am about to buy it
but idk if im spending my money right
What are your thoughts of the Kqi 1 Pro? It's currently about $100 cheaper than the 2
Not worth getting if you are an adult rider. It's a little too small and slow for anybody but kids. The KQi2 is the way to go.
I bought my KQi2 Pri at Best Buy for $420 in my region.
I’m looking at the kqi3 pro I wanted range more. But this one is nice and cheaper. I am new to this scooter world, can you send me a link where I can put my cellphone holder on the front of the handle bars I don’t know what’s it called so I can’t have to keep my phone in my pocket when I go for a ride I want to be able to look down and track my ride. Also is the kqi3 pro better, meaning it has longer ranger ? And for tire replacement where can I buy them.
I just got this scooter yesterday. My first electric scooter. Its so much fun lol! I rode it to the store and around my area. I do not live in a city, i live in a old town so everyone was staring at me as i was cruising around 😂. Its fast enough for me. for $500 to get 17mph is fine for me. idk why someone would pay for the kqi3 $799 for the barely faster speed but thats just me. Like the video said, for the price the Kqi2 is perfect and overall looks like a great solid built scooter
@@Z0mbieMod for me its not about speed at all, i just need range i want to be able to go far, i dont care about going fast on these thats what my motorcycle is for if want to go fast, but i need range because i want to go grocery shopping to the gym friends house. so distance is what i need
@@HotSizzleTV_ you get about 25-30 miles out of one charge on this scooter
isnt the ninebot e2 pro same price? it looks better quality and is better in some tests ive seen. Maybe pricei s different between regions cause they are both 400 euros for me
How does it compare with ninebot f40?
It is cheaper than f40 but heavier
Here's the HACK to unlock the speed mode WITHOUT using a phone:
While you're doing this, DON'T pair it w/the app on a phone. Get the scooter turned on in the eco-mode setting (where it peaks at about 9mph), NOT the slowest walk-mode with the little foot symbol.
Set the base of the scooter centered on a heavy case or box with some weight enough to hold the wheels off the ground by at least a few inches. I used a heavy duty equipment fight-case the size of a large briefcase.
Start the motor by giving the rear wheel a spin with your hand (to get it "kick-started"), and then run the throttle at full, either holding it down so the wheel starts spinning from the motor (or do like what I did) and just tape the leaver at full throttle.
After it runs for what "it thinks" it's doing is those first few miles, you'll hear a "beeping" sound. Bam! You just unlocked the speed mode.
Then let go of the throttle. Stop the wheels. Take the scooter off whatever you set it up on, and it's all ready without having to go into the app. I used NO PHONE to do this.
I only got mine running maxed out at about 17mph, and it would momentarily hit 18mph, but I think there's another hack? I'm going to try it, where you go to update firmware for these (the KQi2) but instead you install the firmware for the KQi3. Something like that. Well, I'm going to try because it's supposed to get you to push this up to 25mph top speed if that hack works.

If you were going to rent this out as part of a fleet. Would the renters need to download the app?
No since this is a personal use type scooter. Plus you’d need additional software for a fleet
Definitely considering
how long Does the battery last
Would this be good for 10 year old
I never understood the push start just make it throttle from zero that’s kind of a bozo move especially in certain situations involving traffic like being stopped on a heavy incline it’s bad enough it sags on hills but to then have to push it is absurd in that situation.
It’s awesome. To have to set up with the app.
Just bought this bad boy. Excited to start riding it! Anyone know if it can be ridden in the rain/snow?
Snow?🤣
@@martimneves4421 You know, the white stuff that falls from the sky? Maybe you've heard/seen it before?
@@Sabitar1 😂
Dumb
I’m curious on how to secure it for theft
Can anyone talk more about their experience riding this "off road"? I love to go through dirt roads and bike paths
Will my feet fit? US size 12?
Jesus Loves all of you guys
how to remove the back tyre
I live in OR Im 14 do i need any license or a helmet or I’m I even allowed to ride this
How do I lock it in front of school or work? I want to use a D bicycle lock.
Maybe the front wheel. I don’t know what else though
@@logan.7 It really looks like a D lock won't fit there
I would like to format the device, please
Code 03 on my KQI2. First ride
I gotta question what If you get a flat tire 🤔
pending how easy it is to remove the tire? I find scooter tires annoying and time consuming to change. I can quickly change a bike tire. Scooter tire so difficult. That's why I went with solid tires. They are harder to replace, but you wont get a flat.
Don't believe people when they say you won't get a flat. Eventually we all get flats.
is it has GPS??
Thank you for this review! Sadly it helped me not buy it since I had the same exact performance years ago for 300$ between weight and requring an app and weird restrictions on speed I will continue my search
You find one?
Solar E1 beats it on everything only £539 including 26.5 mph top speed!
it comes in handy when boondocking
We need NIU KQi4 Pro 2x800 Watt and 1280 Wh battery and maximum 30kg weight
I guess this has zero start. Just need to enable it in the settings
anyone know if you can fold it?
Best E scooter out
How will this effect fortnite servers
I appreciate the effort, but €499 (+shipping and handling) is a little expensive for the limited options and inconvenience of having to always keep your phone and data running, and only being able to turn the scooter on when it's plugged.
I also agree that the app should recognize that you've already done the tutorial. I got my Gyrocopter Flash 3.0 from Best Buy at 50% off, for $400 CAD. It's available all over the place for around $900 CAD when it's not on sale (which is less than the cost of importing a €500 scooter, after exchange rates).
It comes stock with double spring suspension, has the same top speed as the NIU scooters, solid honeycomb tires, and doesn't require a tutorial or data or that you drain your battery by keeping your cellphone open the whole time.
I would SERIOUSLY suggest reviewing this underrated Xiaomi M365 twin in an upcoming video
Wait so you need to have data running to operate the scooter???
Pretty mad when the app says non compatible with my phone....
Just get the Xiaomi pro 2 as the speed stock is 15mph while you can tweak it to get 23mph with basically no risk (just look up a vid on how to increase speed)and it says it goes 28miles but from my testing it goes 20 miles which is still good and you can find it for £400
Go for the Hiboy S2 or S2 pro video. I think it will have you wanting it
I can’t change this to sport mode. Anyone know why or how?
In the app I can’t click on mode it just times out.
Can’t you change it on the fly on the actual scooter?
Press the power button once, and the mode should change
@@zuggett thanks. Doesn’t work though.
Pressing it once does nothing.
Have riden probably 20kms and it’s stuck in Eco
you sound like the daily dose of internet guy
No wonder this is from a Chinese company. Electric motorcycles are very popular in China as a means of daily commute. The market is HUGE and competition is intense. A company that makes decent electric motorcycles making some great e-scooter is a matter of course. And for those who wonder, NIU (牛) stands for bull in English.
Price now is around $380. Is this the best scooter for this price now?
Yessir best
Where can you get it for 380$?
@@youraverageyoutuberjI just bought it for 380$ at best buy
@@youraverageyoutuberj I just bought it on Amazon Prime Day for $379
The other video you said it was a mistake to get tubeless tires on scooters
Now did your opinion actually change or you just had to say this cause it’s paid video
You must have misheard in my other video because I have always been a fan of tubeless tires. Tubed tires are the style that I have issues with and don't like.
This isn't a paid video. I would disclose that if it was.

one to one copy of the segway ninebot max and should because of that not be taken in consideration. Even thou it has a face lift now, thats such a bitter taste just by looking at it
Yeah, these companies copying Segway and/or Xiaomi scooters are just lazy and uninspiring, they aren't even that much cheaper considering they're competing with these larger and well-established companies that make reliable and more-supported products (the modding and hacking communities for Segway and Xiaomi scooters are just the best out there!).
NIU is actually one of the most reputable brands of electric mopeds worldwide, and the unexposed wiring and better braking along with its warranty make it hard to choose the ninebot over this scooter for the price.
Haha, if you know segway copied niu's e-mopeds, I don't know what you will say...
