Lyrics are so important. The boys come from a very small agency, almost broken, so they start living in a tiny place, one small room for the 7, the older guys had half time works outside to suport the younger that still in highschool, cook for them and take care. BTS was hit hard for haters, another group's fans, the big agencies, send to them death treats, etc. So, the lyrics say "Do you see my bag?" We go to world tour, we go to NY, we are in Billboard, we have Army. "What you think about that?"
The reason BTS has come out with the three all-English "bubble gum" songs is because when ARMYs have requested their previous tracks (with Korean lyrics), American radio stations refused to play them. I think BTS'/Big Hits' strategy is to prove to these radio stations of just how massive BTS' appeal is and that (in English or not), they'll get the numbers (of listeners) they're wanting. I don't think BTS made these english songs to appeal to american radio stations. They don't let their style get influenced by things like that. They just make the music they enjoy and that fits the situation (pandemic). Not to mention that even with radio-friendly english songs they barely get as many spins as western artists on US radio
Please listen to what BTS say themselves before you tell people about BTS's intentions. They have been telling is for a year why they have made the English songs: to cheer people up all over the world during the pandemic. Also, they themselves needed those positive vibes because they themslves have been suffering a lot.
I actually like the fact that your honest with your reaction and yall are open minded, you were not being racist or disrespectful towards them as artist. Criticism is fine but only if its about their music and lyrics not their appearance , Bts has over 300 songs, from Japanese, Osts, solo songs/mixtapes, Korean, and now English. The album BE is in Korean and was released on November. No radio at all in USA. Those songs where composed by them and is the style the wanted to put out in the middle of the pandemic. Totally different style. Starts with a couple of sad songs and after more cheerful. Dis-ease is a good song from that album.
Their 3 English songs are bops but doesn't really show how brilliant they are as musicians. They're like intros for listeners to check out their non-english music and they're really good! There's a reason for all these hype and why they have such a massive fanbase, but it requires you to dive in a little deeper into their discography with the CC button on!💜

They can do almost any kind genre and concept they put their minds to fit their album theme, whatever the genre of the song is; they match the concept, fashion and choreography with the tracks. *For example, DNA the concept has an upbeat & colorful theme then there is Mic Drop with more hip hop/rap EDM theme.* They also have very R&B and soft melody type songs as well. *IT DEPENDS ON WHAT THE MOOD OF THE SONG IS*

Here are my personal opinions on why bts been releasing English tracks . That are more happy and bubbly 1) their trying to uplift likely spirit through Covid . Which they mention and btw it’s not really a bad thing . 2) their still fighting hard for that Grammy award . Their first English track dynamite got snubbed and we all know Grammys only use bts for clout and views . 3) not everyone knows how the kpop community or industry works or know what bts is all about so they make English tracks to pull in the haters and prejudice people which leads to korean songs . And yes this is how they add in more new fans Disclaimer : there have been already kpop groups making English songs from before but with bts is kinda different situation from my perspective
Bts ORIGINALLY was suppose to be a group filled with rappers . As in a hip hop group . But singers got added in so they became kpop. 2/3 rappers in bts are underground battle rappers . Early days they had a lot of hip hop rap influence music . But they became versatile at many styles and genres over the years . So yes their versatile .
Even though it opens up with Japanese-American DJ Steve Aoki, the song itself is owned by BigHit(HYBE) / BTS and it was written by BTS Leader “RM” (comes out of ambulance) which was said to be inspired by Obama speeches. After listening to the track and loved it so much that Steve collabed with BTS to make a remix version of their original song “Mic Drop” (which is in Korean) and got featured in their music video. He does get credit for the remix on top of being in the MV, there’s also another remix with Desiigner voice played in the background in the intro of the video. If you want an intense BTS song I suggest "Ddaeng" off their SoundCloud and "Ugh!" From their Map of the Soul:7 album which came out last year. I suggest you listen to the studio version and then the live versions.
MIC Drop is a song for the haters. Hater can hate them as much as they want but they are laughing all the way to the bank with the world largest and the most loyal fanbase. There is a reason why they beat the 50 years record of the Beatle on the Billboard. Their music cover every genre and are universally loved around the world. Check out their concert in Brazil to see what I'm talking about, I have never seen anything like that since a Michael Jackson concert in the early 1990s.

The thing is, I've heard songs of theirs that are part in English and part in Korean. The radio stations edit out all the Korean, which.... I'm so disappointed in the world whenever I hear it happen. They can make songs in Korean and it won't play, but Spanish artists get the play. they can make songs with a mix of English and they edit out the foreign language, but they don't with other languages. I don't understand.
I recommend doing Ddaeng with an explanation video by dkdk TV for a really cool wordplay rap song with Korean cultural references. For another great attitude filled song though? Bts - Dope. I agree, their solo stuff is amazing, it's definitely more impactful. But the group stuff is insanely conceptual and deep when you get into it. The Map of the soul breakdown of Jungian psychology is crazy for example. Love Yourself build up? Great, especially if you look at the BU storyline with it. Wings goes back to classical literature, and includes Nietzschean philosophy, etc. I agree, the English songs are different and might not be my top songs from em, but the songs are always so catchy XD besides, I like seeing them happy. This might not mean much to a casual listener, but seeing them heavily tap into anxiety, mental health struggles and agony over the 8 years of their music, I want them to capture the happy emotions in their music too.

For me the reason they do English song is because theirs fandoms international and specifically the American music markets. Before they do, they already got theirs popularity don't forget theirs discography are 95% in English. They are already huge everywhere before, don't forget they were unpopular in their own country, they weren't among of big 3 companies. They got Success cause theirs public international and theirs fandoms Army, they feel grateful. They are legend!
If you like hip hop definitely react to UGH! There are 3 or 4 songs that need the explanation videos as they contain so much Korean wordplay and this is one of them. They are really clever songs. Not your run of the mill rap. Keep going!💜

You are so wrong, BTS have songs like Mic Drop but never made it to Billboard Hot 100 #1. Sadly, it takes the three English pop songs to reach a higher level because radios refuse to play their Korean songs. This is how shallow American music industrial is. Why is the other man very negative. Lyrics are so important. The boys come from a very small agency, almost broken, so they start living in a tiny place, one small room for the 7, the older guys had half time works outside to suport the younger that still in highschool, cook for them and take care. BTS was hit hard for haters, another group's fans, the big agencies, send to them death treats, etc.
So, the lyrics say "Do you see my bag?" We go to world tour, we go to NY, we are in Billboard, we have Army. "What you think about that?"
The reason BTS has come out with the three all-English "bubble gum" songs is because when ARMYs have requested their previous tracks (with Korean lyrics), American radio stations refused to play them. I think BTS'/Big Hits' strategy is to prove to these radio stations of just how massive BTS' appeal is and that (in English or not), they'll get the numbers (of listeners) they're wanting. I don't think BTS made these english songs to appeal to american radio stations. They don't let their style get influenced by things like that. They just make the music they enjoy and that fits the situation (pandemic). Not to mention that even with radio-friendly english songs they barely get as many spins as western artists on US radio
Please listen to what BTS say themselves before you tell people about BTS's intentions. They have been telling is for a year why they have made the English songs: to cheer people up all over the world during the pandemic. Also, they themselves needed those positive vibes because they themslves have been suffering a lot.

Criticism is fine but only if its about their music and lyrics not their appearance , Bts has over 300 songs, from Japanese, Osts, solo songs/mixtapes, Korean, and now English. Not all are my taste but I still appreciate the hardwork that goes with it. The album BE is in Korean and was released on November. No radio at all in USA. Those songs where composed by them and is the style the wanted to put out in the middle of the pandemic. Totally different style. Starts with a couple of sad songs and after more cheerful. Dis-ease is a good song from that album.

Their 3 English songs are bops but doesn't really show how brilliant they are as musicians. They're like intros for listeners to check out their non-english music and they're really good! There's a reason for all these hype and why they have such a massive fanbase, but it requires you to dive in a little deeper into their discography with the CC button on!💜

They can do almost any kind genre and concept they put their minds to fit their album theme, whatever the genre of the song is; they match the concept, fashion and choreography with the tracks. *For example, DNA the concept has an upbeat & colorful theme then there is Mic Drop with more hip hop/rap EDM theme.* They also have very R&B and soft melody type songs as well. *IT DEPENDS ON WHAT THE MOOD OF THE SONG IS*

Here are my personal opinions on why bts been releasing English tracks . That are more happy and bubbly
1) their trying to uplift likely spirit through Covid . Which they mention and btw it’s not really a bad thing .
2) their still fighting hard for that Grammy award . Their first English track dynamite got snubbed and we all know Grammys only use bts for clout and views .
3) not everyone knows how the kpop community or industry works or know what bts is all about so they make English tracks to pull in the haters and prejudice people which leads to korean songs . And yes this is how they add in more new fans

Bts ORIGINALLY was suppose to be a group filled with rappers . As in a hip hop group . But singers got added in so they became kpop. 2/3 rappers in bts are underground battle rappers .
Early days they had a lot of hip hop rap influence music . But they became versatile at many styles and genres over the years . So yes their versatile .
Even though it opens up with Japanese-American DJ Steve Aoki, the song itself is owned by BigHit(HYBE) / BTS and it was written by BTS Leader “RM” (comes out of ambulance) which was said to be inspired by Obama speeches. After listening to the track and loved it so much that Steve collabed with BTS to make a remix version of their original song “Mic Drop” (which is in Korean) and got featured in their music video. He does get credit for the remix on top of being in the MV, there’s also another remix with Desiigner voice played in the background in the intro of the video. FUN FACTS: Almost everything used is REAL except maybe the floating mics and Fire after literally blowing up a car behind them #BTS #MicDrop #StopAsianHATE
Just to let you know they are not saying the western used “N” word it only sounds like it, the “Naega” word in their language means “I” or “you” in Korean. Everyone who doesn’t understand abit about the language & meanings especially when they hear the “Naega” word; which is very commonly used allot in the asian culture and music. It’s not the same as the “N” word, which allot of americans got too comfortable hearing or saying then assuming automatically when they hear it from a foreigner that’s what they mean, but in this case it has nothing to do with african americans at all. *In some foreign languages/cultures, many common western words will sound similar but have different meanings*

If you want an intense BTS song I suggest "Ddaeng" off their SoundCloud and "Ugh!" From their Map of the Soul:7 album which came out last year. I suggest you listen to the studio version and then the live versions.
MIC Drop is a song for the haters. Hater can hate them as much as they want but they are laughing all the way to the bank with the world largest and the most loyal fanbase. There is a reason why they beat the 50 years record of the Beatle on the Billboard. Their music cover every genre and are universally loved around the world. Check out their concert in Brazil to see what I'm talking about, I have never seen anything like that since a Michael Jackson concert in the early 1990s.

The thing is, I've heard songs of theirs that are part in English and part in Korean. The radio stations edit out all the Korean, which.... I'm so disappointed in the world whenever I hear it happen. They can make songs in Korean and it won't play, but Spanish artists get the play. they can make songs with a mix of English and they edit out the foreign language, but they don't with other languages. I don't understand.

I recommend doing Ddaeng with an explanation video by dkdk TV for a really cool wordplay rap song with Korean cultural references. For another great attitude filled song though? Bts - Dope.
I agree, their solo stuff is amazing, it's definitely more impactful. But the group stuff is insanely conceptual and deep when you get into it. The Map of the soul breakdown of Jungian psychology is crazy for example. Love Yourself build up? Great, especially if you look at the BU storyline with it. Wings goes back to classical literature, and includes Nietzschean philosophy, etc.
I agree, the English songs are different and might not be my top songs from em, but the songs are always so catchy XD besides, I like seeing them happy. This might not mean much to a casual listener, but seeing them heavily tap into anxiety, mental health struggles and agony over the 8 years of their music, I want them to capture the happy emotions in their music too.

For me the reason they do English song is because theirs fandoms international and specifically the American music markets. Before they do, they already got theirs popularity don't forget theirs discography are 95% in English. You are so wrong, BTS have songs like Mic Drop but never made it to Billboard Hot 100 #1. I really hope you did the right kind of research and reviewed some helpful informative guides about BTS because there’s allot of unnecessary inaccurate fan-made content and pictorial intros that aren’t very helpful unless you only care for the photos with little info. Correct, BTS is very open-minded and diverse with everything they do which is one of many reasons why they’re so globally successful being the biggest known Kpop SuperStars with the largest growing fandom (ARMY) on the planet.

Since they're so popular globally of course it makes sense to do English language songs, not sure though what you meant when you said "trying to appeal to Western audiences" which implies they're being inauthentic?.
Why is the other man very negative. He says Americans would listen to BTS even if they sang in their native korean language but from wat we have seen every time American or English people react to BTS korean songs .... they just laugh and say “ I don’t understand anything” and say because it’s not in English they don’t like it.
