I've been there several times Austin, but in the good old VHS days. this superb production has whetted my appetite to go again...Simply stunning images, and it always struck me that it was odd seeing all this industrial power working so hard through a rural landscape.....Bob
Excellent Video! Was born and lived for 23 years just down the road, loved visiting there. My Grandad used to drive Hawarden (out of ticket) at Shelton Bar, and remembers Dubsy from there too. As luck would have it the owner of Ugly is also the owner of the Model Railway shop I now use in Kent.
Many thanks Mike, the gradient is 1 in 19 at the steepest part of the bank so the little engines really have to work hard, very enjoyable to watch them in action
Great stuff Austin. What a sound from the little ones!! That one shot at 10.25 really shows how steep that bank is. Thank you Austin, All the best...Tim.
Cracking footage Austin, I was there too and enjoyed it but had to leave before the 18 vehicle run. Nice to have seen it now courteously of your video, thanks, Lee.
Great to see these locos in their natural environment. A great show for the organisers and excellent variation of locations. Usual high class videography. Chris
Absolutely stunning! I can't believe I've not been to one of these events - I'll certainly be at the next one! Beautifully shot as always and great selection of locations. It just shows what a spectacular sight industrial locos working hard can be.
You are rather like myself as my first visit to the Foxfield was only in 2010 and I was hooked. Not that long to wait until the October gala. Thanks for your much appreciated comments
Magic footage Austin, plenty of power on show from the small engines and that must be one of the steepest short lines in the country possibly ! . Regards Steve
Smashing video as always. Makes a pleasant change from the mainline action which is great, but the industrial lines are good entertainment as well. That is one heck of a climb!! Thanks for posting, Dave.
Thank you. The line is set in some very pleasant countryside, quite a surprise to find a colliery there in the middle of rural England. Staffordshire is a very scenic county, the Churnet Vally Railway isn't too far away which also passes through some nice scenery
Lovely video, and you really captured the gradient well. I was there, putting my 7 1/4" loco through its paces on the 1 in 20 on the miniature railway. It sounds nearly as good!
Quite a series on coincidences there, I must say I really enjoy my visits to the Foxfield, very friendly people and the scenery around ther is delightful. Thanks for your kind comments and I'm pleased you enjoyed the video
Great video again Austin - you've caught the very hard work being done beautifully!! That bank certainly doesn't take any prisoners. A couple of firemen a little heavy on the coal at times I thought? Best wishes and Thanks!! Mike
Thanks, it bwas a cracking day as always at the Foxfield. The fields down the bank weren't too bad. I was steeping carefully thinking I was doing quite well on the way up to Dilhorne Park when my foot went down about 9 inches, boots and foot soaked!
Cheers Lee, I was undecided whether to stay or not as sometimes these runs can be slightly disappointing but I was glad I decided to stick around till the end
Thanks very much. Passenger trains just run at present from Caverswall Road to Dilhorne Park which is at the top of the bank from the colliery. The railway do intend to run passenger trains to the colliery at some point in the future. The line is always worth a visit
Many thanks Bob, yes you should pay a return visit, the area is very attractive and you could combine a visit here with the Churnet Valley or Great Central...get that long weekend planned!
Great vide as always and some super shots of them climbing the bank. I am going to have to go myself one day to see what is at the top of the incline and how the passenger carriages fit into the line as I suspect they are not allowed down the 1 in 19 section.
I took my big 7 1/4" petrol loco to the autumn gala and put it through its paces on the bank. Didn't manage a footplate ride on the main line this time, but enjoyed a trundle up and down the yard on Bellerophon.
I'm afraid I don't know what the cut outs are for, hopefully somebody who sees the comment will do. The small engines are often overlooked but it's good that railways like the Foxfield put them through their paces
I think they're a kind of self-levelling device so that excess load spills out, as if they were filled right up they'd exceed the weight limit, probably.
Nice one....Makes for a great video to see those engines slogging up a 1 in 20< Enjoyed your vid....at around the 13:00 mark I don't imagine it challenged your panning technique as much as main line steam does …..ツ…☁☁☁⁘⁙☁☁⁙..☁……Hᴜɢʜ….TU
They do indeed and it's wonderful to hear them in action. Thanks for your kind comments
Thanks very much. There's something special about seeing these little engines working so hard
Thanks for your much appreciated comments Tim, the gradient is 1 in 19 so the little engines have to work really hard
Thanks Dale, its nice to see these little workhorses doing their stuff and the Foxfield is the perfect place for them to do so
Many thanks Steve, its good to see these little industrilals working hard in the right environment. 1 in 19 at it's steepest that gradient!
Thank you for your kind comments, much appreciated
Hello Dave, thanks for your comments, much appreciated
Thanks very much, it was a great event. I was sorry to have been away for the autumn gala
Thank you, I agree it's good to see the little engines doing their stuff
Many thanks Chris, it's a wonderful friendly little railway, well worth a visit
Cheers Mike, I was glad I stayed as it was a good display at bthe end of the day

Excellent stuff. That's a surprisingly scenic line, isn't it. The last train was spectacular.

Was there myself was a great day. It's a wonder you found any dry spots in the fields the ones round Dilhorne Park were quagmires!Great video 5 stars.
Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed the video. The line is well worth a visit although it is, as you say, a long run for you.
Absolutley wonderful steam acoustics! thank-you.
Another moment of perfection .. with incredible suspense !
Excellent video! Great to see the beauties make it through the gradients. Thank you for sharing. Take care.
...anwar...
Very enjoyable video Austin with an excellent cast of smaller engines with a great finale.(C&A)
Cheers Hugh, very true about the panning, it's nice to have it easy once in a while!
Excellent video thanks for sharing. Must get there one day but a very longway from Brighton!!
Cracking mix of action and locations Austin. Sorry I had to miss the mega freight

Have to convert you to industrials Andrew, small but powerful little locos. Thanks for your comments
