You're now breaking the Stigma of Tondo. Some people say it's the most dangerous part of Manila, but you will feel there the friendliness and hospitality of Filipinos firsthand. We don't have much but we will still share it to others even to strangers. I stayed there for a while before and the people there will treat you as one of their own once you break the ice. 2JOINTS!!
Tondo district is huge. There are high rise condos that were built by Villar group. There are malls, banks, vast or greater area are not slums. In fact, two LRT stations serve Tondo. The only problem: just too many people. Crime rate in Tondo is low, contrary to the scenes depicted in the movies.
Honestly... If you are able to adapt even in the poorest conditions in Manila, you can most definitely say you can go anywhere in the Philippines and enjoy, more than the views and food that the country can offer, the hospitality and friendships.. quite endearing really. I like the one-on-one basketball game... be careful as some games can get too physical.

Hi Meiya! Or is it Meiah? Dang bro! This is by far the best video I've seen of a foreign vlogger interacting with locals. Your playing basketball w/ the kid and your giving food to the kids and coffee to the old man were awesome. But the real kicker was when you asked to use a bathroom [or CR for "comfort room" as Pinoys prefer to call it] and were allowed in. Kudos to the homeowners for allowing a total stranger to come in. That there is a prime example of the warm-heartedness and hospitality of Pinoys who would welcome you with open arms into their humble abode. And you guys are so game yourselves, which is why you are being endeared to thousands of Pinoys. BTW, great job there grating the coconut Meiya/Meiah!

yeah, actually it would be nice if mayor isko gives him some kind of recognition because of these tondo videos. he's painted a new light onto the area that even filipinos are beginning to shed their old stereotypes about it, and us residents in neighboring cities are starting to think of spending an evening there instead of the usual poblacion makati or maginhawa qc, etc right?
Agree. I live here in Metro Manila and i’ve been to Tondo several times. It’s safe and the greater area are not slums. I attended twice their January fiesta before pandemic. It was a blast. You would encounter friendly people. We need to get rid of The old stereotype of Tondo. Thanks to Mergim for spreading the good news.

One quick tip: whenever you buy something with shaved ice in it, you should mix it all of it together until it all starts to melt together. That's the best way to eat it. Whether it be halo-halo or banana con yelo or mais con yelo or that one you just ate at the beginning of this video. It's gonna be a lot more different in taste and in experience.
I want to thank you for making this video. I'm from Davao and we usually have a prejudice when we hear the place called "Tondo". In that way you will appreciate the friendly Filipinos although mostly of the vloggers they just focus on the modern, rich and the beautiful places of the Philippines .You're one of a kind and in no time to reach 100K is just easy if you win the heart of the Filipino people. Stay safe and takecare always.
You're wonderful! Kudos in featuring a typical Filipino way of life, which is not always represented in a whole host of vlogs of foreign folks visiting our islands. Keep it always real!
Wow. Love the interactions with the locals. They truly love you guys.
You make us realize that Tondo has now blossomed into a safe gastronomic food district! You have captured the real Filipino smile, heart, family, community there! Mabuhay Tondo! Salamat, God bless, mabuhay Melgim and gf!
Mergim back at it again in Tondo! Seriously, his passion & enthusiasm is contagious! 😄👍❤💯🇵🇭
love to see how you are acclimating to the Philippines and quickly embracing the culture…keep doing you!
Ur giving a good impression to that part of Manila which i heard that most people are avoiding that place, people there are very welcoming as i can see.
It’s not me, it’s literally the people there that are very warm and friendly :)
Really liking your vlogs Mergin! So glad you and your girlfriend are enjoying your interactions with the local people. I also like how you are learning the language.. keep it up! Also, many thanks for your generosity with strangers especially the young kids. Keep safe and healthy
Love how you interact w the locals man.. that’s how you win their hearts.. great job brother!
You and your girlfriend are nice. I hope you can stay more in Philippines so you can share more time to the filipinos. Im Filipino Watching from East Sussex, UK
Yeah I would love to stay here as long as I can, let’s see how things go :)
Subscribed. Thank you for featuring your interaction with the locals. Make this your brand.
34.6subscribers as of this moment..and counting..100k is just months away.thats for sure .and I hope you are still here in my beautiful country..visit tagaytay it's in cavite ..take care .Godbless
Road to 100k here we come! I’ll try and visit if I can :)
You're one of a kind dude! You really have this aura that can easily love by the locals. Thanks for staying in our country man! I hope you love your staycation. Take care to the both of you. Love from Israel
*_Mergim is not just vlogging, he's also educating Pinoys. If you believed that Tondo is so dangerous you wouldn't dare to go there, Mergim is showing us how wrong we are. Who knew that Tondo is so lively, friendly, and with tons of street food to choose from?_* 😎😎😎
So true! 🎉
yeah, actually it would be nice if mayor isko gives him some kind of recognition because of these tondo videos. he's painted a new light onto the area that even filipinos are beginning to shed their old stereotypes about it, and us residents in neighboring cities are starting to think of spending an evening there instead of the usual poblacion makati or maginhawa qc, etc right?
My goodness, Mergin !
I admired your bravery venturing in the poorer areas. I'm a Filipino but not even me during my time in Manila can be bothered going to such places.
Good Morninc Mergim! Another quality video today.
Thanks bud, a bit of ball action, Filipino street food, interaction with locals, it was the perfect day in my book
Thanks for your genuinity towards our locals. We really feel that you're not only trying to be kind to them but you are really enjoying your time with them!!!! Have more great time exploring our country!!!
This is sooo cool! Who wudve thought that ull end up having friends in tondo 😄 what vlogger would rather hang out in tondo than bgc. RESPECT! 👍
I don't normally comment on vlogger videos but I got to say, your videos on Tondo and Binondo make me want to come home to the Philippines and come back to those places. Haven't been there for a long time mostly because I didn't think it was worth enduring traffic for. But now, I want to go to the places you've gone to. I hope you stay in the Philippines longer and continue to vlog here. More power to your channel.
If you love playing hoops, you'll surely enjoy the Philippines. Basketball courts/rings can be found almost everywhere.
I think they have this Midnight Mercato at BCG. You may want to check out their street foods there as well.
Ive binged watched every Philippine episode youve done. I appreciate the different take on vlogging here. You're becoming 1 of my new fave vloggers. Stay longer here please.
Great video mate! By the way, there is a popular Pinoy Basketball League in Thailand. Went to see a couple of games at Ramkhamhaeng University. Lots of fun
Oh I’ve not seen a lot of Thais play basketball, so that’s a surprise
@@MergimVlogsYT yes it was just Filipinos playing against Filipinos. I didn't think I was in Bangkok anymore!
Mergim is the first foreign youtuber I’ve seen who really immersed himself in the culture of the Philippines. All I’ve seen from other youtubers are all just about going to touristy and “pretty” places. Margim, on the other hand, made me miss the real Philippines - gritty, but with the nicest and welcoming people you’ll know.
A real good vibes with people, dog, and cat. Your girlfriend is lovable. Thanks for the positive vlog.
Yeah we had a cracking time with the locals in tondo today. Nothing but great vibes :)
*couple of points in this vlog:* (1.) @ 2:21 mergim takin' over the hardcourt 🏀 (2.) @ 6:03 mergim's gf takin' over the foodcourt 🌰 (3.) @ 11:53 mergim & gf takin' over and bringing down the house!
Mergim you are so authentic and have such a big heart. Kudos to you for showcasing Tondo's street food, you’re giving them more exposure/business. Maya is very pretty, hope she is loving being in the Philippines as well. Best wishes to you both. 🫶🫰
Doesn't just give things out to use for thumbnails or titles. It's a yes from me!
Love ya work
Thanks bud, glad you like my work :)
Nice blogging,Huge smile with ur blog
i love how natural both of you interact with filipinos! 😍
The new crowd favorite.... becoming popular and super interactive!!More power and keep safe!!
I love watching your vids very authentic.. 👏 explore the whole country! Good luck and thank u!
Yes that’s a journey we are thinking about embarking on.. but overwhelmed with the choice, and monsoon season doesn’t
Make it easier :)
I want to thank you for making this video. I'm from Davao and we usually have a prejudice when we hear the place called "Tondo". For us (or maybe just me and my circle) Tondo is like a No Flight Zone. We stay away from that place because of its reputation. However, what you experienced totally blew my mind away. People in Tondo are so friendly. You changed how I see the place and the people. P. S. This is the first time I commented on your videos. I've been binging this past few days though. 😀
Dude your killing it
You learnt the secret word in the Philippines 🇵🇭
Salamat...
You get what you give bro go with your instincts which are on point its always bout da people ...
Greetings from Dublin Ireland 🇺🇦 🇮🇪 I have been to Philippines 15+ times You have not lived till you see the sun go down over Manila Bay...
Don't panic it's organic...
Tondo Rocks..
You bring me back to My first visit and I thank you for the reminder 😊
Mergim, of all the new foreign vloggers who entered this summer (Philippines), you are simply the best, genuine, informative and the most entertaining. Keep vlogging with the locals.
-Watching from Malate, Manila
Thanks for showing the non-touristy side of the Philippines. As you can see, Filipinos are very friendly and accommodating. I suggest you also visit the countryside ( not the tourist spots ). You will find the locals are just as friendly and nice. Safe travels.
This channel deserves 100k subs or more.....
Hello Meyo! (Sorry if wrong spelling). Lovely to meet you. Mergim, I really love that new discovery of yours. Really asstd food. Pls post map link on description.
Link in the descriptions, yeah I’ve been really lazy with those, but if you just stood in Ugbo street you’ll find the entire market. I don’t think the stalls themselves have any google pins
Hi it's me Miguel the one who played you in basketball yesterday, nice game btw, mergim i enjoyed your vlog!!
Another cool content , I watched all your vlog since you went to PI. Congrats on your Channel more subs and likes. Watching from Las Vegas NV 🇵🇭🇺🇸🇵🇭🇺🇸🇵🇭🇺🇸
Thank you, I’m glad you Like them :)
(Reminiscing my stay in Japan as an O.S, (Overstaying Filipino),way back in the '90s)
I have Thai friends (co-workers),both male and female.
They too are a friendly and hospitable people.
Up until now,I still remember their happy faces, and our experiences together...
Unforgettable..
Your gf is very down to earth. we are loving her. 😃
I found it hilarious when she made her way round the back and started carving some fresh coconut for our desert 😂😂
@@MergimVlogsYT I you are going to BGC , you can ride the ferry from Escolta up to Guadalupe, From Guadalupe you can take a taxi or grab going to BGC. Actually it is very near/ 10 minutes ride i think.
Dude I love your videos , never miss a single one ( Philippine vlogs ) , this is the real deal a tourist immersing himself in the authentic Filipino lives , your interaction and your kindness with the locals is heart warming , I'm surprise you entered Tondo distrct , it's one of the depressed area in Manila but it's there you found the real hospitality and friendliness of the Filipino people. Keep it up my friend , you're giving us Filipino expats some good entertainment we dearly miss our beloved country :-))...
get hitch with a local and settle down there ( oooops did I said that out loud ? ..Lol )
greetings from Canada .....
Watching Mergim Vlogs while eating breakfast and is officially part of my daily routine.
When I started following you, you only had about 10K followers that was back in Thailand about 2 months ago. In less than a month in Philippines, your subs tripled. Way to go Bud. There are millions more to do and explore in the Philippines.
I like that you're deviated from the norm of foreign travelers. If you ever visit the provinces, I hope you try the Mt. Pinatubo trek, the Ilocos region which include the old city of Vigan, surfing spot in La Union, and the sand dunes and windmills facing the sea. If you like tattoos, you can visit Whang-Od and her tribe in Kalinga. You can also visit Subic Bay. It is a former US military settlement so you can expect a town inspired by an American neighborhood.
Enjoy your trip here!
true, i love foreigners that get outside of the tourist areas, i love to see those places
So far you are my favorite new foreign blogger here in Philippines. Your vlog is very clear and aesthetic and you’re so genuine with your subscribers. Keep it up bro
Thank you, I’m glad you recognise the difference between my work vs these other lazy dudes who just point a camera at their face :)
Thanks for introducing Maya!
Five star rating for this video.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
this video is all vibes my guy! Mabuhay!
Was smiling throughout the whole vid. Thanks for loving PH ♥
36K subscribers? I think your subscribers increased tremendously since you came the Philippines. Congratulations and praying for your channel to keep growing. Be safe always.
If I'm a foreigner in the Philippines , I would also be probably be doing what you're doing / interacting and having food and fun with the locals :)
among all the foreign vloggers from thailand who went here in the philippines, you're the most interactive to the locals. that's good. 😁 you can gain more subscribers by doing that
