things like this happen. don't take it too hard on yourself. be kind to yourself. i'm kinda experiencing a lil something right now & i will not let it dampen my spirit. let's rise from this together.
I had to leave nyc unexpectedly and moved back with the fam, but ended up being unemployed for literally almost 2 years. The market is absolute trashhhhhhhhhh
Hi bestie! This is so relatable. I went to a really prestigious college and graduated right in the middle of the recession. I literally couldn't get anything in my field and was applying to everywhere that I could. Eventually, I got a job at a frozen yogurt place and fully suffered for over a year before I made the decision to go back to graduate school. I'm doing great now, but I remember how stressful it was and how I felt like such a failure. The culture shock of being hyped up in the academic environment and achieving all these things, but then getting out and not having it translate to real life at all was truly scarring.
Honey! You need to get over asking around! Ask your friends, let people know! Building community is the most important thing we’re working on collectively right now. We owe it to ourselves and to others to be kind and work together! You don’t owe nothing, kind soul! Be the change 💗
I got unexpectedly laid off last year in August. After spending a month applying for about 5 jobs a day across the US and Australia, most of these jobs I was overqualified for as well. I ended up just going on a vacation for a month visiting family in Australia and accepted a job in a place I never wanted to live. I drove two days with just what could visit in my car and started working with nothing in my apartment but my cat, bed and TV. 😂 It’s seriously rough out there for everyone. My dad has been unemployed for 8 months now and he’s a renowned expert in his field.
Dear heavenly father, Lord Brett is struggling and i pray that you keep him hopeful and bless him in anyway needed. Keep his spirits up and be the light in his darkness right now, in Jesus name .Amen. Brett, stay strong- things will soon fall into place
It’s okay to feel like things aren’t going in ur favor, of course there’s so many things going on in the world but your feelings are valid! If you have any connections in New York I’d try getting referrals! Is it possible to use your social media to try and get more brand deals to help fund those costs for the mean time? Or work for smaller businesses?
