Yes, the demons were so afraid of Himmel that none of them came out of hiding until after he died. It didn't matter that he was a frail old man who could barely walk. Just that name, "Himmel the Hero", kept all demons in check.
Him being frail isn't information that would have been available and therefore didn't factor in. You can't just google "How old is famous person X" in a medieval setting. And demons live far longer than humans. It was quite logical for them to just wait until news of Himmel's death spread through the land.
I mean he could clearly walk. They walked a whole week to see the meteor shower. Himmel was probably dangerous until the very end. Sure a fight at that age might have killed him but I doubt whoever forced him to fight would come out unscathed. I think the demons made the right choice here xD

I wonder about that. Frieren said that demons are descended from monsters that cry "HELP!" in order to lure humans. What did those monsters look like? Were they always humanoid? While the demons are good looking in general I wouldn't say they are over the top gorgeous. Originally, the "demons aren't actually evil" idea was a twist on traditional fantasy tropes that would have demons/orcs/goblins/whatever non-human race as the designated villains that could be killed without moral consequence. And for a while, it was an interesting twist because it forced the audience to contemplate how we dehumanize others in real life to justify our violence against them. "You asked for it." Fern jumped from using very respectful formal language you would use for a lord to very abrupt and rude, I'm pretty sure Stark was asking for something in the middle. 😅
Moin and happy new year :) I want to give a hint to the names of those demons: LÜGNER means liar and DRAHT means wire. He used a magic wire to kill the prison guard. Like all other names in this anime the names are in german. BTW the girl demons name is LINIE which means line or route. CYA ;)
I agree about the smiling more. Its hard to describe what the village chief did as 'unforgivable', especially as he was the only one who died because of it.
The final scene in the prison with frieren and demon talking with zero emotions was very eerie, cause they don't talk like humans at all, its like watching two soulless creatures spewing text to each other, or 2 programed machines trying to act like like humans Demon :am here to kill you Frieren : really? But so u know am very strong Demon: strong how? Frieren :stronger than your boss. . But 1 thing we can all agree on is that frieren is badass
Don't call Frieren soulless! It just speaks to her experience and dedication. She KNOWS that demons are not beings that can be bargained or negotiated with. From her perspective it's like talking to an object or an intelligent wild animal at beast. In fact her warning the demon of her being strong shows a glimpse of her empathy she hasn't managed to overcome in over a 1000 years shows how good of a person Frieren is.
@@Kalenz1234 Truth. Humans speak to communicate connections and emotions between each other. To reach mutual understanding or convey a concept. Demons do not speak with those intentions, its just sounds they are making. They do not actually care what sounds are being spoken back to them, they aren't seeking connection or understanding. Frieren knows this, so while her responses seem "soulless", its because she knows its useless to speak in a way that attempts to connect to the demon. Its wasted effort, so she speaks to them in the same way they speak to humans, without connection or emotion.

Frieren is extremely powerful and therefore extremely dangerous. Yes that's an obvious fact. Where you trying to imply anything beyond the obvious?
I think the implication is that the Demons were so wary of Himmel and his companions that they basically went in hiding until he died. I'm not sure that I would characterize demons as "evil" because they don't really experience human emotion. They don't understand right from wrong because they lack empathy, guilt, etc. As a result, they are essentially just acting on their primal need for nourishment.
There’s also a bit of fridge brilliance to the whole thing and what we have been shown of Demons logical reasoning. Frieren is incredibly dangerous to demons, but her continued presence didn’t give anybody pause once Hummel died. Why? Because he was the leader. Demons do what the leader wants because the leader is stronger than them so they have to. But they often don’t necessarily share the same ideology or desire as their leader. So once someone is dead their wishes don’t matter. He was the one who went around doing hero stuff but is dead. The rest being around is irrelevant. They won’t be hunting Demons anymore. And to a certain extent, this is true. But they came at it from an entirely alien way of thinking.
Many animal-focused channels have said: "Tigers gonna tiger." In a similar vein, demons gonna demon. If you consider mosquitoes spreading deadly diseases "evil", then demons are basically operating on a similar principle.
@@LucificNightexcept demons don't need to eat humans and are intelligent creatures. They don't have malice towards humans but they understand things like fear, pain and self preservation. They know humans feel these things yet prey on them anyway when they don't need to. This is completely different from an animal like a tiger so the comparison is deeply flawed.

Btw I just finished episode 7 and would like to say some things so I hope you guys won't spoil anything, thank you. Actually if you notice when the demon bamboozled the father, the writer knew exactly how to make him seem as persuasive as possible They did this by making it so that before the demon said those words about the tidiness of his room, he asked 2 questions. Whether he asked the two questions because he canonically knew that this was going to happen or because the writer wanted to make his words more persuasive is unknown so far but saying a sentence with a nuanced experience that relates to the things that the person is saying shows that they can immserively relate to the experience that the person is describing and the two questions show curiousity. This is a genuine tactic that psychopaths and sometimes normal people who are apart of psychopathic groups if you know what i mean or just normal people use, it's sometimes referred to as the 2,1 tactic meaning 2 questions and one validatory statement. Anyways these demons are the metaphoric expression of how actual psychopaths are and notice if someone does this to you and beware.
notice how he said "let me be the reason you go on a journey" and after he died frieren went on a journey to find heaven. himmel means heaven in German
The demons were afraid of Himmel. Once he passed they started to acting up.... Tell you how powerful he really is/was as we rarely see him in action, even in the flashbacks....
Fun fact: Lügner means liar in german. And every name is a german word in this show. Fern = far (away); Frieren = freezing; Stark = strong; Himmel = sky/heaven; Eisen = iron; Heiter = cheerful; Flamme = flame As for the new characters: Linie = line; Draht = metal wire, and Aura is the same word Just thought i'd mention it since i haven't seen anyone else comment on this
German names: Granat = garnet (could be a translation error though, it could be "Granate" meaning "grenade"), Lügner = liar, Linie = line or linneage, Draht = wire,
Yeah, these next few episodes are a significantly darker tone for the show compared to what came before. I think it's important to the story to have them, but it definitely came as a bit of a shock the first time watching.
Demons didn't get their powers back when Himmel died. The implication is just that they were afraid of Himmel and were biding their time. Remember, demons live a very long time, like elves. They can afford to bide their time.
I find it interesting that Frieren explains that demons fake emotions to manipulate people, suggesting that they don't have any true emotions beyond maybe a desire to kill, while earlier she says elves don't have romantic or reproductive feelings. It's kind of an opposite sides of the same coin kind of thing.
Frieren is usually pretty laid back and unconcerned about others. The only exception is demons : instant lock-in, no quarters. I know you two already know about her nickname. 😊
It could be a coincidence, but Qual was just a giant monster, so I’m curious if the idea is that demons looking pretty to deceive people is supposed to be a newer adaptation.
This episode is important in explaining what demons are in THIS universe. They aren't the same in every LN/manga/anime. Some people don't get it, thinking that the demons in Frieren can be communicated with. But notice that Frieren says the demons are XYZ and then we hear the demon himself saying "we are XYZ". In Season 2 we will see another pair of demons who are REALLY scary....
The demons revere power, and held the peace as tied to Himmel's existence. However they have no concept of legacy, so once Himmel died, they picked up right where they left off. The peace is over. The war is beginning again. And yeah demons can survive on most foods humans eat. It's just they humans are their preferred food. By the way: Lugner means "liar" in German, and Draht means "wire."
I think that demons don't need to eat people like people don't need to eat animals. They just happen to find humans really tasty. And they use words the way that hunters use animal calls to lure their prey.
I wouldn't call Demons evil, its just their instinct, they're very instinctual animals ,also they probably get mana from eating humans so its worth it to go after humans instead of idk...rabbits or another easier to hunt animal

"You asked for it." Fern jumped from using very respectful formal language you would use for a lord to very abrupt and rude, I'm pretty sure Stark was asking for something in the middle. 😅
3:34 this show is like a cat, being friendly and funny and all, then all of sudden stabs your heart
Can you imagine if bears could talk? "Come inside my den and have some honey, friend." Chomp! Kuwaii!
4:03 did u know that Heaven in Germany means Himmel. So when Stark asking where they're going Frieren stated to Himmel 😍🤙
About Frieren’s memory: most of the backstories are shown to us at the volume as her’s. “Oh, I’d almost forgotten about that Demon…” Frieren, lol.
The young male demons name is Draht, which is the german word for wire. I think that´s quite fitting 🙂
Nearly all the characters have meaningful German names. Stark (strong), Eisen (iron), Himmel (heaven), Heiter (cheerful), etc.
@puremachinery thanks, I know that.
I'm german myself 🙂
Moin and happy new year :)
I want to give a hint to the names of those demons: LÜGNER means liar and DRAHT means wire. He used a magic wire to kill the prison guard.
Like all other names in this anime the names are in german. BTW the girl demons name is LINIE which means line or route.
CYA ;)
The demons using human speech is definitely like real world human bird hunters imitating bird calls so they can hunt them
Never opened UA-cam so fast after seeing the time LOL
Frieren smiles with every episode more
I agree about the smiling more. Its hard to describe what the village chief did as 'unforgivable', especially as he was the only one who died because of it.
@@LoricSwift Just a nice example of Platons tragic i guess.
The final scene in the prison with frieren and demon talking with zero emotions was very eerie, cause they don't talk like humans at all, its like watching two soulless creatures spewing text to each other, or 2 programed machines trying to act like like humans
Demon :am here to kill you
Frieren : really? But so u know am very strong
Demon: strong how?
Frieren :stronger than your boss.
.
But 1 thing we can all agree on is that frieren is badass
Don't call Frieren soulless!
It just speaks to her experience and dedication.
She KNOWS that demons are not beings that can be bargained or negotiated with. From her perspective it's like talking to an object or an intelligent wild animal at beast.
In fact her warning the demon of her being strong shows a glimpse of her empathy she hasn't managed to overcome in over a 1000 years shows how good of a person Frieren is.
@@Kalenz1234 Frieren - an elf. Not a human. She is dangerous.
@@konstantindrevojorov3550 I'm not sure what you're trying to say.
Frieren is an elf. Yes that's an obvious fact.
Frieren is not human. Yes that's an obvious fact.
Frieren is extremely powerful and therefore extremely dangerous. Yes that's an obvious fact.
Where you trying to imply anything beyond the obvious?
@Kalenz1234 she has no soul. It is obvious.
🎍あけおめ。ことよろ。🎍
I know it's probably not for u yet but since it is for me here. Happy New Year to both of you and everyone
Many animal-focused channels have said: "Tigers gonna tiger."
In a similar vein, demons gonna demon.
Thanks for your empathy to Graf Granat, it is easy for demons to deceive humans and I appreciated that you said you would have fell for the deception, I would have too! Ty for reacting excited for more.
I think it's funny that Lord Lugner has the same VA as Sukuna. Man has knack for playing demons I guess lol
Sukuna's voice always gives me chills
The young demon challenging Frieren was like a newcomer to society in human terms.
He didn't know how strong Frieren was because he was young, but Frieren is saying I'm stronger than your boss's boss. 😆
The demons just started to act after Himmel death. His mere presence kept them afraid and hiding
Happy new year. I’m looking forward to it from Japan!
Lugner is voiced by same VA as Sukuna, very fitting.
Wishing you ladies a very Happy New Year!!
12:58 It was a string, indeed. Not *wearing* one, but using one. ;-)
The Himmel flasbacks will continue to tug your heartstrings.
Happy new year !!!!!
Wish you girls and amazing 2025!!!!
Kotoshi mo yoroshiku onegai shimasu 🤗🤗🤗
今年もよろしくお願いします😊😊😊
Btw I just finished episode 7 and would like to say some things so I hope you guys won't spoil anything, thank you.
Actually if you notice when the demon bamboozled the father, the writer knew exactly how to make him seem as persuasive as possible
They did this by making it so that before the demon said those words about the tidiness of his room, he asked 2 questions.
Get ready for next episode. It is amazing.
Fun fact: Lügner means liar in german. And every name is a german word in this show. Fern = far (away); Frieren = freezing; Stark = strong; Himmel = sky/heaven; Eisen = iron; Heiter = cheerful; Flamme = flame
As for the new characters: Linie = line; Draht = metal wire, and Aura is the same word
Just thought i'd mention it since i haven't seen anyone else comment on this
To be more exact Frieren means "to be cold" which really fits her character at the start of the story.
German names: Granat = garnet (could be a translation error though, it could be "Granate" meaning "grenade"), Lügner = liar, Linie = line or linneage, Draht = wire,
I know yall film this ahead of time but Lord lugner is SUKUNAS VA❤️🔥🥶🥶🧊
Buckle up! The next few episodes are FIRE 🔥🔥🔥
Happy new year 🎉❤
Yeah, these next few episodes are a significantly darker tone for the show compared to what came before.
You should do 8 & 9 as a double episode pair, they go really well together.
This starts an AMAZING mini arc (7-11). You are not ready for what's coming (in a good way).
5:43 that's the first time I've seen reactor remembered/realized that, this is why their reactions are top tier haha
Watching this before 2025 comes, Happy New Year! ✨🥂✨ Love your reactions 🤍
Names Like frieren; lügner and draht Are all german
Draht means wire so maybe thats his skill or his „magic“
The demon is voiced by sukuna's va
Ah, this arc is peak.
Damn, I love this show.
My dog just passed away today thanks for uploading.this helped me cheer up
So sorry for that, she love u so much 🥲 have a hug 🥹🙏🏻❤️ 🫂
@Alerian0950 thanks man 🫂
Ending this year with your frieren reaction 🎉
Sukuna voice actor ... Can't ignore that....
2:40 "What was that image?" ... Almost all the important characters were orphaned. don't wanna spoil too much.
Boy that scene related to that piece of jewelry is going to DESTROY them.
Frieren is usually pretty laid back and unconcerned about others. The only exception is demons : instant lock-in, no quarters.
I know you two already know about her nickname. 😊
HERE WE GO
It could be a coincidence, but Qual was just a giant monster, so I’m curious if the idea is that demons looking pretty to deceive people is supposed to be a newer adaptation.
Buckle up for the next 2 episodes!!!

@@UltraHD.7 ups, you're right!
"Demons are NOT friendly." Well, that's why they're called 'demons,' right?
ah the demon episodes yeahh if frieren in battle mode you can tell its gonna be interesting episodes
So do you think Frieren's clothes are as old as she is or she gets the same exact set made every few years or so?
happy new year both of youuuu❤❤❤❤❤
The demons revere power, and held the peace as tied to Himmel's existence. However they have no concept of legacy, so once Himmel died, they picked up right where they left off. The peace is over. The war is beginning again.
And yeah demons can survive on most foods humans eat. It's just they humans are their preferred food.
By the way: Lugner means "liar" in German, and Draht means "wire."
Lugner va is sukuna va!!
You don't remember the lugner voice ? 😅
I'm Japanese and your fan!!
Get ready!!
I'll be here again in episode 14
What about episodes 10 and 12?
I think that demons don't need to eat people like people don't need to eat animals. They just happen to find humans really tasty. And they use words the way that hunters use animal calls to lure their prey.
Draht is a german Word, it means wire, all names are german wirds.
Funfacts lugner voice actor and sukuna are same
Haylo..
❤❤
Happy new year to you all! Hopefully this year brings you happiness and may you become wiser than you were.❤💕✌
cant w8 for more
断頭台のアウラ編。
I wouldn't call Demons evil, its just their instinct, they're very instinctual animals ,also they probably get mana from eating humans so its worth it to go after humans instead of idk...rabbits or another easier to hunt animal
Anti spiral😢
Himmel's the gojo of this world... Demon feared him but as he died everyone came back in action... That's what I think
Yeah I wonder if they were just like "a human lifespan is nothing. we can just wait until he dies. just in case"
do u guys plan on watch squid game? :)
It's so sad that they won't upload for the entirety of this year anymore.
the reasonn himmel makes many statue because of frieren 🤧
💓💓💓💓💓
"Lord Lügner" ; Lügner = Liar in German. Not exactly subtle.
Did you guys noticed Lügners voice!! Thats juinuchi suwabe- "Sukuna's VA" !! His voice is so sexy lol
Walmart Johan underestimated Fern and Stark so bad
Please give naruto a try you two 🙏🏻
Aura didnt “get her powers back”. She just became active again when Himmel died. Because Himmel was the Hero.
