    Guys we are almost 20,000 strong! Thank you so much for the support. The scooter really amazed me because I had issues with the tuning and exhaust but it still came out really fast. Shifter Kart video series will resume back to normal and expect a video soonnof that!

    Wow, that is sweet. 5-7hp is real good for these engines. I recommend drilling holes in your pistons skirt and drill out your wrist pin, this will shave some weight off the components and allow for higher rpms. Port the transfer ports as Well. Also stack some base gaskets to raise your ports=better port timing. All in all that's a really neat setup tho. Looking to push at least 4 maybe 5hp with my bike.

    I have to be honest, i thought the 10hp estimate you originally gave in the first video was pretty generous...but now i wouldnt be surprised if it got 7-8hp. Slipping that clutch lke a boss (be careful you dont blow it!)
    The intake is nice, but it is not ideal..it essentially turns the carb to whatever the smallest diameter is in the intake. A 24mm carb on an 18mm intake is basically an 18mm carb. It can cause things to act weird and make tuning more difficult too. If i were you, i would pick a carburetor brand and type and stick with it, and buy jet ranges for them so you can tune! Dellorto PHBG are great, and come in all sizes and mounting varieties from 15mm up to 21mm, and they use the same jets. That kx65 pipe is mean for sure though......
    Looking forward to seeing the finished scoot!

    • @VasilyBuilds
      @VasilyBuilds  5 років тому

      Great advice thanks man!! I ran a #72 main jet on the original carb, the 24mm carb wanted a #100. I don't know why that is such a big difference. Didn't think about the intake problem, But I looked at some 2 stroke engines, and I see they do have a constriction at the Reed body. I guess it depends. I would like to get a cylinder with a bigger intake port and farther stud spacing.

    • @brandon2076
      @brandon2076 5 років тому

      @@VasilyBuilds jet numbers across brands do not necessarily equal each other. Sometimes they do, but not always. A 100 mikuni jet is not necessarily equal to a 100 Dellorto jet. Even less so with Chinese clone jets.
      But that's not the only reason the jetting will be different...carburetor size will also determine the jet. A larger carb allows more air in, and therefore more fuel...but sometimes it's more complicated than that.
      Also, it appears you have a piston port cylinder, not a reed cylinder. Reed engines have very different and also greater performance characteristics than piston port, as it is the reed flaps that control the intake flow of air and fuel instead of the wall of the piston, which gives you more options essentially as far as tuning goes (Thickness, size, and number of Reed flaps/reed block)

    • @brandon2076
      @brandon2076 5 років тому

      @@VasilyBuilds Also, check out Treatland.tv for performance 2 stroke parts! Mostly moped specific, but they have tons of carburetors, jets, pipes, accessories, and everything 2 stroke. • @VasilyBuilds
      @VasilyBuilds  5 років тому

      so I'm starting to get alot into two stroke tuning, I will be working on a KX250 motor soon. Would it be smart to switch to reeds on this 66cc engine? I've heard a lot of people say the reed kits are a restriction and have a poor throttle response for these types of engines. I will be turning around 13,000 rpms and I think piston port will do just fine, what do you say? I don't know your background but you seem like you have knowledge about that. Along with those rpms, I want to get a bigger flatslide carburetor, preferably 28mm

    • @brandon2076
      @brandon2076 5 років тому

      @@VasilyBuilds while reeds themselves may technically be considered a physical obstruction, they dont hinder performance per se. A properly tuned reed engine has much more potential than a piston port, on level playing field. But, for your purposes, piston port is simpler and should do fine. Also, there is no way you will flow enough to be able to take advantage of a 28mm carb with that 65cc cylinder...even a 24 is alot. I'd say a 21mm would be ideal, with a matching 21mm intake (for higher revs, make the intake a short as possible)

    Find a drill bit set that starts with sizes slightly smaller then the jet that's in the carb and goes up from there an drill it out tell it gets to where you want it rich is good and a 32:1 35:1 mix seems to be best. You can shave the cylinder head and get more compression I wouldn't do to much because I'd be worried about the bottom end mostly connecting rod needle bearings. I'd personally run 102 105 or 110 if you can find it I know some gas stations around Rutherfordton sells 102 I think not sure about anywhere in Tenn not.

    If the threads on the wheel are right hand threds on the sprocket and brake sides then one side will be for the sprocket and the other for the brake if you put them on the wrong side it will un thread the sprocket on power and when you hit the brake it could do the same. If you flip your wheel it should fix that problem. Just a sugestion to look at.

      Id say about a 20% chance because it is 8 hours away. Who knows tho, if my finances go good this year and I have extra time and money, maybe I could buy a towing rig or trailer or truck and stop by. But I will most like be going to the rgb meet at may 31st its only 1 1/2 hours away
