MAY 24, 2024: Former government minister Kern Spencer has ventured into agriculture, putting acres of lands into sweet corn production.
The renowned businessman has traded politics for ploughs, diving headfirst into the world of agriculture with his new venture, South Coast Foods. Spencer, who has ventured into farming since January in his Santa Cruz, St Elizabeth community, said there are real rewards to be reaped.

We who from st. Bess need outlet where farmers can go and get their produce sold, when we look overseas and see so many things in the market that Jamaica produces, we are not creating any market for agriculture enough where we can get our things in supermarkets abroad, I see cucumber juice, pineapples slice in tins, green peas, sweet corn in bags, guava juices and even so much things that can propel the livelihood of us Jamaicans but this government is not doing enough for farmers to get their produce out..
