I just want to thank you for the insightful videos you are creating in this series. I really value your opinion and look forward to hearing it each time you post. You really deserve a large following. Other UA-camr’s clearly watch and value your stuff. Thanks for all you do.
These videos make me really excited for when you're able to fully deep dive into the full PHB. Love hearing your thoughts on what they reveal, but going into all the details will be great.
Just want to thank you so much for being such an amazing resource to this community. I wish they'd take the gag off you and let you discuss all the stuff they miss; as a result, a lot of response to the new classes is more negative than it needs to be, especially since they're not allowing people like you to speak freely on what all the changes really are. Its maddening. I'm tempted to post a video about it.
Been following your work since 3.5 Chris. You are my most trusted source for d&d information, whether it's mechanics or your attitude towards the game. Thanks so much for all you've done!
Loving the daily videos (watching your versions only) and appreciating your excitement as well as the analysis. Choosing what to play first could prove a monumental challenge (though Archfey warlock could be near the top of my list).
I’m definitely quite excited to try my hand at making my Warlock Tank build that I’ve been playing in 5e and BG3, and I’m very excited to see if it’s still possible and if the effectiveness has improved or worsened. (For anyone wondering, Fiendish Vigor, Armour of Agathys, Protection from Evil and Good, Blur, etc. are all useful tools for making your Warlock more survivable, and you can use Booming Blade, Spirit Shroud, and potentially some other Eldritch Blast + pulling shenanigans to substitute taunt effects. Not overly amazing in power, but certainly the constant Temps from Fiendish Vigor every turn can keep you alive if you need it.)
Thanks for doing so many videos on all the classes and subclasses. I always appreciate your considered and analytical approach to evaluating different character options. I think it was very smart of Wizards to give you an advanced copy so that you could have time to reflect on the new PHB. 😊
I have been having a blast the last few days, not watching WOTC's videos but just waiting for yours to pop up, I have been an avid reader / memoriser of your guides since 3.5e (TreantMonkLVL20) and am so so happy you're still blasting out content on a regular basis. Reading the comments might make your day, but you've made my two-decade lasting DnD journey!
I watch a bunch of D&D UA-cam Channels that are really great. It’s mind blowing how much good content there is, to be honest. Chris, yours are always good and are of the highest quality. You deserve all the praise you’re receiving bc you are miles above the baseline. :)
Friday can't come fast enough. I need to see where the ranger landed. When I saw the BG3 updates for the GoO and other subclasses, I knew that what we'd get would be serious overhauls. Admittedly, I was already using the BG3 fixes in my home games.
18:22 he mentions Repelling blast working for Ray of Frost. Repelling blast was the only invocation still hard tied to EB in PT7. Is this confirmation that it no longer is as well?
I think more people will dip into one level of Warlock just to get a familiar (You get a pseudodragon! You get a sphinx of wonder! You get an imp! Everyone gets a poisonous snake!) The Archfey Warlock reminds me of a 4e teleport build that was published on Dragon. I got to play it and it was tons of fun, the amount of teleportation I had didn't feel like I had limited number of resources. I could never recreate it in 5e but I think now I can.
I loved hearing you talk about your Voice From Beyond build - I just watched that one the other day, and was thinking about it in this context too! It's a super fun build.
It is a nice way to CHOOSE to "trigger" some reactions from your allies (by taking some discrete amount of damage), but not others (you select who, so they can then choose what or how).
Thank you for these quick videos! I will say the thing about magical cunning in the playtest that I disliked is that for the majority of the warlock’s career that only nets you a single pact slot and you can only do that once per long rest. Which is something but that something isn’t very far from nothing.
Your reaction videos are so well presented. It’s so valuable to the community for us to have a humongous fan of the game giving an honest opinion. D&D is for everyone and Treantmonk is for all of the D&D community
I really enjoyed the one-page direct comparison you did at the end of your Druid video… I’d love to see something similar done for all the 2024 classes @TreantmonksTemple
You can tell how much more Tod cares about warlocks than the other classes. Like he wanted to reveal as much as possible, wanting Jeremy to say all the mechanics.
I love that they changed the subclass spells to behave like clerics. I feel like bonus spells are an awesome way for designers to convey the thematics of a subclass without using up very much of the available power budget. Additionally, from a design perspective, it was really frustrating to pick expanded spell lists for warlock subclasses because the most thematic spells that you would want on the list were often already on the warlock spell list.
I really like the changes showed and it seems like it's now a class I'd actually play outside of a multiclass build. Although I'm sad you can't choose the spellcasting ability anymore, INT warlocks always made sense to me, like a person who seeks knowledge in even the darkest places, not leaning on the ardous study of wizards
Great video Chris! You really hit it out of the park!!! I hope WoTC appreciates your sage advice and fair interpretations. The ray of frost, repelling blast combo is going to be fun… spirit guardians?! You are going to have to do another one shot with D4, Dungeon Dudes et al.!!!!!
The Voice from Beyond build is looking to be a top tier infiltrator and silent killer with the updates we've seen so far. Imagine a Great Old One Warlock whose Disguise Self (assuming Mask of Many Faces is still there, because there will probably be riots if it's not) has no components, is the ultimate spellblade with Pact of the Blade coupled with the Great Old One's Clairvoyant Combatant, has a silent Hex that debuffs saving throws along with equally silent Dissonant Whispers, Modify Memory, or Feeblemind.
I’ve been using the playtest 7 warlock in our Strahd campaign and this sounds almost identical to that. It’s been great. Having all of your patron spells known is just so incredibly huge.

thank you for deciding to do these videos even though you said you were gonna take a break, i know it is a ton of work but you're someone who's opinion i really care about and someone i've followed through this whole process and i'm glad i can trust you to not sugarcoat anything or blow it out of the water, glad you're able to keep up with the announcements
Hearing that kind comments from your fans makes your day, makes my day. Thank you so much for being such a gracious and insightful creator, Chris.
Chris! Your passion and excitement are infectious! I love how much you want to dive right in and share with us. Thanks!
Waited the extra hour for this instead of watching the official one!
Warlock feels even more like 2 half casters fused together, not that that is a bad thing, in fact it's very thematic you get the power of the warlock and the power of the patron.
damn, I'm already looking forward to the hundreds of videos that will come from the alterations made to all classes and to seeing how you show us the power in so many new and improved features
I have watched your video on the 2024 PHB each day and now I find myself seeing your video drop, go brew a cup of coffee so I can enjoy a coffee while you start off bragging about your cup of coffee.
I for one love your positive energy, you say things in a positive way which is why I look forward to your content so much.
So glad you’re doing this series of videos, your input is basically the most trusted source for reasoned, intelligent takes on all things D&D.
Excited for this one! Thanks for these reactions videos. I like having your commentary to go along with them!
I listen to these at work in the morning, always fun to hear what you opinions are! Im glad these videos are doing well also
Oh boy, another day, another DnD class reveal - so that means another video by Treantmonk!
I'm super stoked to have a great video to watch every day - at least while WotC releases all their classes.
The new Archfey warlock with the new option to have a chat with your patron is going to be a blast to play and to rp. I really look forward to that.
Was very smart for them to include these on the relevant classes. In warlocks it's even better because you auto success the saving throw.
And Chris is now making me watch the same video twice just so I can get his analysis of all changes.
Continue your amazing work!
We've been blessed with all of these reaction videos. Thanks for all of your hard work, Treantmonk!
i love your feedback on each of these reveals cant wait to see the future of these classes and what youll do great job
I watch a bunch of D&D UA-cam Channels that are really great. It’s mind blowing how much good content there is, to be honest. Chris, yours are always good and are of the highest quality. You deserve all the praise you’re receiving bc you are miles above the baseline. :)
Dude, really the best way to get the info of each new version. So much better to watch
You are the reason I came back to DnD after a decade without playing.
Me too! Two decades.
Friday can't come fast enough. I need to see where the ranger landed.
When I saw the BG3 updates for the GoO and other subclasses, I knew that what we'd get would be serious overhauls. Admittedly, I was already using the BG3 fixes in my home games.
Thank you for making these! I love hearing your thoughts
I super appreciate all of your insights. These review videos you've been doing are super helpful.
Leaving a comment to encourage you to keep on keepin on
Will do!
What a great series of videos! It's great to watch with a morning coffee
I get giddy when I come home from work and see an hour long Treantmonk video. This man does NOT miss
Thanks for the quick followups! Really like your breakdowns
Love this series you've done! Love your through analysis of all these changes. Keep up the great content 😁
The barely contained-glee in Chris' voice is wonderful!
There's some great customizability with the warlock especially now.
Awesome work Chris! I'm excited to hear more of the Sorcerer, Bard and Wizard!
What a time to be a D&D fan! Every day I look forward to the new Treantmonk video on the new WOTC video on the new PHB!
Everyone gets a poisonous snake!)
The Archfey Warlock reminds me of a 4e teleport build that was published on Dragon. I got to play it and it was tons of fun, the amount of teleportation I had didn't feel like I had limited number of resources. I could never recreate it in 5e but I think now I can.
Omg! Soooooo excited for this video! Tytyty Chris! ♥️
I loved hearing you talk about your Voice From Beyond build - I just watched that one the other day, and was thinking about it in this context too! It's a super fun build.
Celestial warlock getting aid is crazy. And searing radiance now working on friendlies. HUGE buffs. Love to see it. Will definitely want to play one.
It is a nice way to CHOOSE to "trigger" some reactions from your allies (by taking some discrete amount of damage), but not others (you select who, so they can then choose what or how).
I really appreciate your insights about all of these classes with these videos.
Excited to see this reveal. Even more excited for your thoughts!
That would make dipping eldritch with their new cantrip attack action a DM nightmare beyond reason.
@@JugglingAddict what do you mean?
Great video Chris! You really hit it out of the park!!! I hope WoTC appreciates your sage advice and fair interpretations. The ray of frost, repelling blast combo is going to be fun… spirit guardians?! You are going to have to do another one shot with D4, Dungeon Dudes et al.!!!!!
Ah yisss, warlock time. Favorite class time. I had an Idea for a new warlock character recently and have been waiting for it with bated breath
I always loved the Great Old One flavor, so great to see it get a boost as my Warlock always felt so weak compared to my friends Celestial one.
We appreciate you too Chris. @Treantmonk
There’s also a ton of monsters in Monsters of the Multiverse that lost their resistance to nonmagical attacks
You are my favorite! So happy to see you cover this.
Truly, I am most excited for the new combinations and synergies. It was just a refresh I needed.
Always great to hear your thoughts!
Chris, you are crushing it with these reaction videos!
I’ve been using the playtest 7 warlock in our Strahd campaign and this sounds almost identical to that. It’s been great. Having all of your patron spells known is just so incredibly huge.
I'm just glad it's not simply a reprint of exactly what was in the playtest.
I really enjoy your work, Chris. Thank you for sharing your opinions and love for the game!
I really wanted to know if Pact of The Blade is still threatening martial identity, but I’m hopeful with the non-answers that Chris has given
Did he not say that we will be using a casting stat for attack?
@@neurolancer81 That was not the problem, though.
@@tiradegrandmarshal What was the problem? The medium armor and weapon proficiency does not really overpower anything the other Martials had. It was the CHA to attack and damage that pushed it past the others. It basically made a 3 level dip for Pallys almost must.
@@neurolancer81If I remember correctly, bladelocks got resource free bonus damage on hit in addition to using their casting mod. It ended up outscaling any martial with only 2 attacks and gave a 3 attack fighter a run for their money.
Edit: spelling
@@neurolancer81hexblade was the issue in 2014 as it allowed you to take a 1lvl dip to make you SAD. But in one DND (2024) the issue has been when they were shown in playtest 7 was that bladelock was so stacked it was much stronger than martials, even without a subclass.
I am so excited for the players handbook especially the assassin rogue and the warlock archfey
Warlock is my favorite class, this just a marvelous development
