    Love your survival knife set up, I have one like that for my custom TAK 1, I also carry a good quality wire saw with it, a couple of big sewing needles, 10 yards of SS wire, and 10 yards of 50 pounds threaded dacron for fishing or sewing. Thumbs up!

      Jorge Luis Garcia, great choice of knife! I’ve had too many wire saws fail, to trust them (even using them set up as a bow saw), so I prefer the SAK saws these days. Funnily, I added sewing needles shortly after I’d made this video, so good call. What is your reasoning for the wire?

    I shall be incorporating much of this in my #KabarBK16. One question, though. How can you have such a knife in the UK? Yes, I know about being able to provide the justification of having one such and the police does not bother. But, any tips? I am going to visit the UK for about 3 months, soon. What about Victorinox Swiss Champ? I know that my #KershawBlur is a definite get-in-jail-quick card.

    • @darkwoodbushcraft
      @darkwoodbushcraft 5 місяців тому +1

      We can legally carry a knife that is non-locking and under 3” without good reason (with the exception of a few places like courtrooms, schools and airports). With that in mind you’re absolutely fine to carry any of 91mm Victorinox’s or smaller, including the Swiss Champ. I carry one daily myself.
      When it comes to fixed blades (or locking blades, which are considered ‘fixed’ by the legal system), then you’re quite correct, you need ‘good reason’ to carry one. Being over here from abroad for a short stay, gives you justification to travel with it if you can show you are using it for ‘bushcraft’ type reasons. However, when transporting it to and from site, make sure it’s not easily accessible (on your belt for example), so buried in the bottom of your bag is best.
      Ultimately, just apply a bit of common sense. Don’t attract attention, the public tend to have extreme reactions to seeing knives (except Victorinox, which everyone is familiar with), so be mindful about where you take it out. You’ll be much more likely to get into trouble in a suburban/urban area than you will in a rural one. The police won’t search you for no reason (they can’t legally), so if you don’t give them one, you’ve nothing to worry about.
      I’ve carried a knife since 1976, and I’ve never had an issue.

    I like that setup mate. I have the 6 and I was thinking of a custom leather sheath setup but you have me questioning that now with the idea of the dangler. Where did you get the dangler? I like the idea of a multitool sheath option on it. I was planning on getting a pouch put on the sheath for a multitool but I like this idea better.

    • @darkwoodbushcraft
      @darkwoodbushcraft 2 роки тому

      Thanks for the comments Patrick. The dangler is one I made myself, it’s essentially just one vertical loop (that fits my belt), and a vertical loop that goes through that and attaches the multi-tool. Both are attached with strong press studs. The belt loop then has a ‘d’ ring at the bottom of it to attach the dangler. To be honest, these days I tend to attach my multi-tool directly to my belt since I carry it all the time, the dangler only really gets worn when I’m going out with a fixed blade.

    • @darkwoodbushcraft
      @darkwoodbushcraft 2 роки тому

      *that should read “horizontal loop” for the multi-tool loop.

    Brother is the camera playing tricks or am I seeing serious burrs at 1:30 -1:46 ? It could be lighting but it looks like the blade went through WW5. Either way all that means is you’re using you tools & it’s back porch /stone time. 👍🏼

    • @darkwoodbushcraft
      @darkwoodbushcraft 2 роки тому

      Must be the camera, I’m a knife maker and keep all my tools razor sharp. It’s definitely a user, but there was no damage on the blade when this film was made. Thanks for watching though 👍

    I just stumbled on your channel. I thought you Brits had outlawed "assault knives." Do you have to keep them in a special lock box in the forest? Is there a special license for them? Frankly, I am shocked that neither of your knives attacked you. You have obviously trained them well. I like the content, but the background music is pretty annoying. Cheers.

    • @darkwoodbushcraft
      @darkwoodbushcraft 6 місяців тому

      Don’t worry, these are indeed specially trained knives that are allowed out in public as they’ve had their stabby gland removed and the metal blades have been replaced by painted chocolate ones. I agree, the background music is quite annoying and I probably won’t do it again 👍
