I think that the biggest bs is the fact that WWE claim that no wrestlers are employed by them stating that the wrestlers are independent contractors yet they are banned from doing practically anything outside WWE.
Actually as far as swearing goes , WWE has had the talent do quite a bit since AEW started up. They have also brought back the Styles clash and curb stomp finishers.
There is some amusing ideas regarding what wrestlers were able to do in the WWWF, WWF, WWE, and the now WW (notice how the initials keep getting shorter?). The McMahon family business has always been about running the competition out, and establishing dominance. Through much of the 1980s and up to now, the performers that were the draws could not perform under any other organization. There was a time that the WWF of the 80s and 90s did establish working relations with AWA and USWA. This was because the WWF wanted certain talent from those shows to perform in their ring. However, they weren't able to pull those talent in completely. They would pull that talent in, book them so much they rarely had time to perform in their home regions, and then the fans would tune in to the WWF to watch their favorite stars essentially killing that federation. Feds like the AWA and USWA also didn't get a "two way door" treatment from this. At first, there would be statements about where the performers came from, but as the weeks went on, less commentary was given on the federations they came from. Also, WWF signed talent didn't do any actual wrestling in those organizations. They would maybe at most do a promo, or run interference. I should also point out that the Ted Turner era of WCW (which was originally the name of the weekly NWA television show on TBS) adopted much of the same business ideologies that Vince McMahon used. Turner bought up the promotions run by Jim Crockett in the mid-south regions. This was rather lucrative since it came with the Four Horsemen, Steiner Bros., The Varsity Club, and a variety of other talented stars that the WWF overlooked, but were still top tier wrestlers. The WCW title...that beautiful World title belt that the WWF slapped their attitude era WW onto...was actually the NWA World Title. It was designed to replace the belt we see today...which was used in TNA, but ultimately stripped of because of terrible underhanded business practices. The AEW is a promotion that harkens back to the days of what many regionals were like, that still exist today. A promotion where the wrestlers have more control over their personal IP (their personal marketable brand, if you will), and given freedom to work in other promotions...as long as they sport some sort of "AEW" recognition in their appearances. The schedule that they implement is also incredibly beneficial. The talent doesn't need to kayfabe. They don't need to work house shows. They can perform elsewhere to build the reps if they need to. They get to make money off of their personal brand. And this last thing is the most important...can perform in a manner that is PPV level on a weekly basis without destroying their bodies because they have to wrestle 4 to 6 days a week all over the country. As long as the AEW maintains this business practice...they will be a force to be reckoned with, and may be the shot in the arm that the industry has been so desperately needing in the last 20 years or so.
@@DasMetu96 True but AEW is still beating NXT in rating that is what matter, was only a few times thar NXT beat AEW,but yeah the only thing that WWE have they is still good is NXT, but they are only that, good, AEW is amazing
Never watched AEW even once but I have a ton of respect for the way they treat their talent. WWE seems like they are behind the times and AEW understands what today’s generation wants. Superstars having their own streaming channels is absolutely awesome, it allows fans to have an even stronger connection to their favorite performer/s.
I can see what Vince is thinking about the mma thing "if my tough guys lose a real fight, they will no longer be taken seriously. Especially if they are the champion of wwe who lost to some guy" So I can see it's Vince protecting his brand. And the image of his characters in wwe.
AEW took a look at everything WWE does wrong and said ...."let's not do that" I mean it's scary letting wrestlers run wild and I am sure it will bite them in the future but so far, letting veteran wrestlers keep rookies in check and building a community behind their company is a good start. You feel a part of a bigger group and not an individual fighting for a spotlight.
There is a big difference between PG and Publicly traded. The WWE has many different groups and others to serve. Don't be fooled by what wrestlers say on pod casts. At the end of the day you work to get paid.

Is AEW still filled with High spots, non-selling of them, super kicks and dives? I tried watching it at the inception and even a year after that but couldn't enjoy due to the 4 things I mentioned. High spots became meaningless since no one will ever win with them, everyone kicks out of them, it became a chore to watch. I think I might enjoy the show if it wasn't like that anymore.

@Herry Valenzuela The Roman Empire had a host of other issues as a political entity that made it unsustainable, a company and one that is near monopolistic, tends to survive better as long as it has cash coming in
@Herry Valenzuela Dude, I'm on your side. I agree with you that WWE is full of flaws and should probably fall. I want AEW to succeed and offer as good a Wrestling product it can. I don't have "rainbow coloured glasses". I'm just pointing out that -1 WWE being an effective monopoly right now makes it harder for it to fail. Even if the product is terrible, most people will still watch it since "it's the wrestling they know". WWE is currently synonymous with western wrestling so it will always have the easier time getting money and getting seen. and -2. WWE, with cash deals from Fox and Saudi Arabia, is staying solvent. It still makes a lot of revenue from merch and sales. Enough people are still watching to keep it profitable. When I say the company will remain standing, I'm not saying it as a blind fanboy. I'm saying it as a defeated one. Knowing that monopolies are sadly self sustaining. I'm happy to be proved wrong here.
AEW policy is a snowball effect that will eventually grow into something undeniable. Im happy to see/ hear about the wrestlers throughly completely enjoying what they do. It make a high quality product where (most) fans will enjoy the promotion.
Its a real shame that CM Punk quit when he did, if his final run happened now it would have been hilarious if he took the WWE title to AEW knowing all of the crap that was going on with him and the WWE.
The Life of a Wrestler. AEW: You are your own "Athletic Artist", able to create and shape your gimmick however you want, and use multiple media outlets as promotion. This was an amazing video & very informative. I haven’t watched wrestling in years because it seems to be a sad shell of itself. Knowing this now about AEW I may have to give them a try.
Not always. The biggest part of WWE's success in the 90s was that while the wrestlers had a modicum of creative control over their characters, Vince McMahon would only let them go so far. Uncontrolled Creative Control of characters is part of what brought down WCW towards the end of the Monday Night Wars.
Yes, the greatest part about "All Friends Wrestling" is AEW damn self aware about that. They even make a storyline about begins with TH2 go against nepotism with the promotion. Its brilliant they know how to make storylines even from a botch.
The limited move set in wwe is understandable. Vince choses physic over skills. Imagine someone like Khali using the piledriver as his finisher... he would have shorten a lot of careers
I was at that cody vs. Dustin match. There was so much blood and the match went on so long and Dustin just kept bleeding. The crowd was seriously starting to get worried. The canvas was so bloody that they ran out and replaced it with the canvas that was used earlier in the rumble, it was all balled up like used tissue i dont think they were expecting it to be that bad
Maybe not, but that match was thrilling. I know wrestling is scripted, but the hug between Dustin and Cody felt real. They sold the moment fantastically.
I'm interested in when the time comes for a mass exodus of wreztlers from WWE head to AEW. Black Wednesday was one thing but I have a feeling there's going to be a lot bigger names who aren't being released but are asking to be let go all in one clump.
when it comes to the move set i think the point goes to wwe,, i mean c'mon we've seen a lot of injuries happen because of certain moves (not only because the wrestlers themselves did it wrong). Injuries that can be very serious... I'm glad they've banned certain moves honestly
On top of that, I’d rather be in AEW. Heck WWE. I will swear as much as I want, do as many piledrivers as I want and pitch ideas to the boss without needing to give him a conversation. I could just text him and get it green-lit (hopefully). Along with having creative freedom.
It's kind of crazy when you lay it all out and you can see as plain as day that the WWE formula feels like something from a bygone era - needless restrictions and micromanaging that is infringing on a wrestler's actual life is mind boggling
Let's face it AEW was founded in 2019 and new companies always tend to be flexible with their employees at the start atleast. lets see how this goes 10 to 20 years down the line.
I understand why Vince bans certain moves. It is for safety reasons. Just because a move hasn’t caused any injuries yet, doesn’t mean it won’t. it only takes 1 time for someone to get seriously hurt or killed.
I recently got into AEW after a stopped watching WWF/E 17 years ago. I Love it! It's so great. i think it just comes down to this; AEW trust the wrestlers themselves to be intelligent adults, to respect themselves, each other and the company, and that every one involved really wants to succeed and is willing to give their best.
Agree 👍

Totally Agreed 👍

Never watched AEW even once but I have a ton of respect for the way they treat their talent. WWE seems like they are behind the times and AEW understands what today’s generation wants. Superstars having their own streaming channels is absolutely awesome, it allows fans to have an even stronger connection to their favorite performer/s.
I can see what Vince is thinking about the mma thing "if my tough guys lose a real fight, they will no longer be taken seriously. Especially if they are the champion of wwe who lost to some guy"
So I can see it's Vince protecting his brand. And the image of his characters in wwe.
"i call vince and cut a promo on the answering machine"
AEW took a look at everything WWE does wrong and said ...."let's not do that"
I mean it's scary letting wrestlers run wild and I am sure it will bite them in the future but so far, letting veteran wrestlers keep rookies in check and building a community behind their company is a good start.

@@hilmanic28 Stop the complaints. It’s literally the best wrestling there is right now. Of course you’d complain about the high spot kick-outs bro, it’s the same exact reason I hate WWE. I know whenever John Cena is wrestling he’ll have to hit at least two AAs to win. At least AEW is authentic and let’s the wrestlers do the finishes the way they want to.
WWE is on borrowed time. They have been going down hill for a very long time. It's just a matter of time until they fall.

WWE fails to realize, not every fan is a child.
Doubt it. WWE has effectivly a monopoly on a Mainstream Wrestling and monopolies are self sustaining

I'd love to see a list going vice-versa, if that's even possible
Its a real shame that CM Punk quit when he did, if his final run happened now it would have been hilarious if he took the WWE title to AEW knowing all of the crap that was going on with him and the WWE.
The Life of a Wrestler.
AEW: You are your own "Athletic Artist", able to create and shape your gimmick however you want, and use multiple media outlets as promotion.
WWE: You are under complete control, no important opinion ( about Anything, really ), and everything is directly spoon fed to you by Vince Mcmahon's assistant, whether the fans enjoy it or not. You jump, whenever Vince says to jump, exactly how he says to do it, or he embarrasses you on National TV.

Giving creative control to creators will always make the product better as we can see.
Not always. The biggest part of WWE's success in the 90s was that while the wrestlers had a modicum of creative control over their characters, Vince McMahon would only let them go so far. Uncontrolled Creative Control of characters is part of what brought down WCW towards the end of the Monday Night Wars.
