It also shows the true nature of humanity in the face of danger and extinction. Also, there's a fan theory that says that our boy(old man) dies in the ocean and reunites with his love(The girl) in heaven(this was shown in the panel which you probably missed). This was one of the only things that made my eyes filled with both kinds of tears, of joy and of sadness. I loved how the illustrator showed the boy’s mental state through his eyes… at first when his mom died, his eyes were completely dark… then when he met the girl and spent time, the eyes were brighter…then when he lost her, it turns black again… then finally when he saved the boy from the dark ocean… it again turned bright… I might read this again,there’s so much details….thank you chad❤for covering such wonderful manga
