    We have a “crank” in our neighborhood. She continuously calls our local precinct and sometimes visits in person since they are close. This is for petty stuff, someone left a trash can out to long on trash day, someone parked incorrectly, a dog crapped in her yard... The cops tell us they respond occasionally just to keep her from escalating because she’s crazy. Now I wonder if they feel she could do more than just make petty complaints.

      Someone like that doesn't fit the paranoid grouping of people who will tend to escalate. She seems like the type who is in her head looking out for the community. She feels personally threatened, so perhaps the response is to try to get to know her, to talk to her and to understand what her problems are. I'm not suggesting that this will be easy, but most crises ca be averted if identified early enough.

Death row is death row. You gonna execute someone twice? Maybe lock up family members who had nothing to do with the crime? Put their children in an orphanage? Go kick their dog? And what do we do then when we catch a crooked cop? Hang 'em? Draw and quarter them? How about a public flogging? Is it possible you've smartened up in the two years since you said this?

      Yes, a problem when my cousin's kid witnessed the gore at Parkland last year. A student anti-gun activist now, though. I'm so proud of him. Now, do you know what Michael Scofield is talking about?

    • @marcia7107
      @marcia7107 5 років тому +3

      AmericanRelic2hear
      Yeah, that's the talking point, and that's all it is: a talking point. We don't agree, but other CIVILIZED countries, don't have the sheer capacity of guns that we have in the US. I come from a military family; they didn't serve in recent wars, but did serve in WWI, WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. Funny thing, but they only own/ owned hunting rifles for deer and a lot of fishing tackle, camping gear and watercraft. America has enough guns for every man, woman and child in the population. That's a ridiculously dangerous amount of guns, and acquiring more of them, won't keep us safer. And I like the way gun crazy people scream and yell about the 2nd Amendment, where if you had studied the U.S. Constitution, was not written for the times we live in now. It was to keep the peace against upstart militias, (also a problem here AND a huge source of stolen weaponry from our legitimate Military), whether domestic or foreign, not for shooting everything that moves, or to be put in the hands of mentally ill people, some with PTSD from serving our country in recent never-ending wars. Then there's the danger to children, other than in their classrooms. "Well," you say, "I keep ALL MY GUNS, RIFLES, AK-15 or 47's that rattle off 100's of rounds of AMMUNITION in a minute, locked up in different places. The kids can't get to them and load them." Yet, that what happens. Kids and young people aren't stupid. They know where those keys are, how to load the gun and shoot it; just by the Internet and UA-cam, if not by their parents.
      My cousin's son is an anti-gun activist because even though we come from a military family and earlier generations were farmers, we've all been brought up the same. My late father, who served in the Army Infantry as a sharpshooter, in WWII, felt the same way and used to curse all the "nutcases running around with guns." Certain rifles and guns have no place in civilian hands. PERIOD. And certain people shouldn't have access to guns. PERIOD. The debate is useless with you types despite the fact that death by bullet is far, far less in every other civilized country because they don't have the massive piles of weaponry and ammo available to the public. Australia used to have our problem, but fixed their gun laws. Now, Australia has 25,000 more citizens that the US. Latest statistics: Deaths by guns in Australia - 500. Deaths by guns in the US - 17,000. Understand now? Didn't think so.
      Heads up all you gun crazed freaks: I'm going to do myself the favor of blocking and muting, here. ESPECIALLY since the most ardent gun owners are also the most foul mouthed. Which figures.

    • @marcia7107
      @marcia7107 5 років тому +2

      Two survivors of the Parkland shooter have committed suicide, one week apart in March 2019. And a Sandy Hook Dad who lost his child in that shooting, committed suicide same week. Yeah, no problem that good guys with weaponry and ammunition in huge clips, can solve, right? WRONG!!!!! So dead wrong! You 2nd Amendment people, which was written in the 1700's, should be ashamed of yourselves. Not saying ban guns, but banning AUTOMATIC RIFLES and GUNS that hold a huge amount of ammo, would be a start. Deep background checks with periodical assessments, also would help. You need to grow hearts and minds, and stop screaming, THEY'RE COMING FOR OUR GUNS, every time reasonable gun control is discussed.
