  • I put my new Chinese auger to work in this video. How well does my Derette DRT450 Chinese mini skid steer with an auger work?
    I ordered my machine from Dean Sun at Derette on Alibaba. Click here to see the machine I bought and contact Dean on Alibaba. Or you can email him below. Let him know you found him though this video for a discount!

    pro tip: dont spin the auger until you have it planted on the ground. and if youre cleaning out your holes set the bit in the hole before you emgage the attachment. it helps you be more precise on your holes and makes clean out much faster and easier. also disengage the auger before you raise it out of the hole and youll pull more of the loose dirt up.
    pro tip 2. move the machine back and forth or side to side as needed to keep your bit straight and therefore your holes straight

    Seems like the auger ends up off plumb because of the way the arms raise/lower. You almost need to back up a bit as you lower the arms to ensure the hole stays ~vertical once the tip hits the ground and as your hole gets deeper. Seems like this is something you can counter with the posts when you set them in concrete or with the tube forms (or whatever) but it sure looks easier than the old fashioned way.

      Supposed to back up when using the auger on machine to keep straight.

      I noticed that when I watched the footage. I was thinking I could back up if I needed a perfect hole. I don’t for this project, just a plumb 4x4 and it worked great.

    That thing dug good. Having down pressure is key. Tractor 3 pt auger does not have down pressure

    Made easy work of that. 👍 I ordered an 8", 12", and an 18" for mine. Dean says it handles the 24" so we'll have to put em through the test. Thanks for the demo as usual. 😁👌

    Looks like you would benefit from adding some weight to either the attachment or the front of the machine, you could do it cheaply with concrete.

      That’s not a horrible idea. I only have a few more holes to do and I’ll be done with holes for awhile.

    you know when you want to get the dirt off the auger stop it in the hole bring it out and move the mini and spin it in reverse it keeps more of the dirt out of the hole , just makes for faster work ,, thanks for the video

    Nice job. Turn the hydraulics off so that the bit isn’t spinning when you pull it out of the hole. That will keep the dirt from falling off back into the hole.. lessWork with the digging bars. This is coming from fencer.

    I believe that they are now shipping the auger bit with two hardened steel teeth on the rotating bit edge to help it dig.
    FYIMy Skid steer is finally on it's way. Dean hasn't sent me the App for tracking the ship, yet. Hopefully there is an App for land shipping also. Can you tell me what yours were?

      @fullthrottle2656 3 дні тому +1

      The 18" and 24" come with teeth. Don't think the others do.🤔 Could be wrong tho.

      I tracked the ship by googling the ship name and figured it out when it was arriving. In the US, ABH freight brought it and it was like tracking any other package.

    I've been considering purchasing a mini just for drilling holes and taking on fencing jobs here in the Bahamas.. especially after hurricane Dorian destroyed everyone's fences, decking.. etc. back in 2019. I've seen a few this size drilling holes in Florida and on a few occasions they found some limestone which all but destroyed the auger and drive unit.. so unless theres an auger bit and drive unit out there capable of handling our Bahamas limestone daily .. i'll have to continue renting the larger skid steers as I can afford to!?! Another great video though!!🤙🏼

      Yep.....If you don't have one yet, get a spud bar to bust up the rocks or limestone before you continue to drill. It will save your auger as well as the attachment points.

    You have to keep plumb! As you lower move back. It's painful watching this video! You're not directional boring. Maintain plumb!

    How deep can it dig?

    • @OurLifeInTrees
      @OurLifeInTrees  4 дні тому +1

      I think the auger is 36”. Don’t quote me on that, I suppose it could go the length of the whole shaft. I need to find out that answer.

    • @benconverse6158
      @benconverse6158 4 дні тому +2

      @OurLifeInTrees is there a possibility to put an extension shaft on it so it'll dig to 48"+? Would be a nice thing to have where frost line is more than 36"

    • @fullthrottle2656
      @fullthrottle2656 3 дні тому +1

      @benconverse6158 I asked them about that for my bits. They don't make extensions for them but I did try and convince them they should. You could probably make your own. However the machine only lifts so high. I don't think the 450 goes high enough to get that depth. The V1000 probably would.
