I was completely delighted on the last sea day of our cruise to stumble upon tea time in the buffet. It was wonderful. PS. Madame looks spectacular and I want every outfit she has on
Hi Joan, lovely to hear from you! Yes, the buffet on the final sea day with Celebrity is usually a magnificent spread, from seafood at lunch... to the cakes and sweet dishes for tea! Thank you so much for your compliments about my Wife, she will be delighted to hear!
We just booked our third Ascent cruise. Don't judge Celebrity by the old ships, they are fine but the newer Edge class is by far their best product. We travel a lot, and it would be prohibitive to use Seaborn or Silversea for 6-8 cruises a year, so Celebrity fills our needs nicely.

Excellent video. For years Celebrity was my favorite line. I loved the beautiful ships and everything else. Then I switched to Holland America because I wanted a smaller ship and different itineraries. Your great video makes me want to go back to Celebrity. Well done.

Wow! Such a wonderful review! I sailed on celebrity Beyond for the first time & found it to be my favorite! It was quite wonderful….& very similar to the Ascent! My sailing ended with seeing the Ascents maiden voyage ! They must be in the same class as the main restaurants were the same as ascents! I truly LOVED the food! I enjoyed myself so much! Had the best service i have ever had! Everyone on the ship was wonderful….i also found that having the gym open for 24 hours also made my day!!! I enjoyed working out in the gym everyday as i had to work on getting those pounds down! I was told that celebrity was for the older crowd …..i found it to be Just Right!!!! I went out on the icon of seas…(lovely ship) but i was lusting for the Beyond!!! I’m older now….and found that even though the Icon was quite great….but it’s more for the family crowd…as a mature adult, i would say celebrity was a much better fit! Thank you for introducing me to me to the Ascent! I look forward to experiencing this pleasure also soon! Great review….!
Hi there, so lovely to hear from you, and thank you so much for your kind words! Yes, the Ascent is the same design as the Beyond, they are both in the Edge Class. Hence you'll recognise a lot of it, but there are tweaks in the Atrium, Martini Bar, pool area and Sunset Bar and deck.
We love this class of Ship, and feel Celebrity have done a fantastic job with the design.

Yes, I too hope they haven't made a mistake. I haven't booked 2 like you, on Queen Anne... I have booked just the one, which is to the Norwegian Fjords. We're all just a bit apprehensive that Cunard have got this right!

My first "Celebrity" ship was with the Chandris line in 1986 (SS. Britannia) then also in the 2011 when it was called "Celebrity Constellation". Interestingly enough, the ship's director then was the reknowned Sue Dening. I JUST came back (Feb. 22-Mar.2) from the Celebrity Constellation from Tampa which had the same Sue Dening as ship's director, so it was a true JOY!

The Beyond is our favorite ship. Can't wait to book the Ascent or one of the other Edge class ships.

As always, you did a fabulous job describing this ship. I’m definitely not your market because I only sail on small ships. Right now, I’m on an 80- day Grand Voyage aboard the Seabourn Quest. I do, however, love the videos you create. If I were to sail on a larger ship, your video would have convinced me to give this one a try.

hi Bill, great video and looking forward to the next episode. We are fairly new to cruising and have only been on a couple of P&O cruises. My wife has severe mobility problems and is either in a wheelchair or a small electric powered mobility scooter. How does this cruise line fair with catering for those who are less mobile? Are you able to do a video where you can speak with disabled passengers and give some feedback on how they cope of different cruise lines? We do see so many great videos on cruises with just about everything anyone could want or do, but these always cater for the able bodied and not for those who are less able.
Hi Erich, great to hear from you. I would say the vast majority of cruise lines we have been on are really very good at catering to those with mobility problems. Especially I would say the American cruise lines who really are very adept at it.
We saw several people on our most recent Celebrity cruise who were using mobility scooters, and they were able to get around reasonably well. It's an interesting comment you make about dedicated videos on UA-cam for those who like to cruise, and have mobility issues; and I think there should be more videos out there. I don't have a video on that subject coming out imminently, but there is a chance that I will be cruising with a relative at the end of this year, who is 90 and does have some mobility problems. If I do, I will try to make a video on that, very specifically covering what issues there are, and what would be helpful for viewers to see

All around Celebrity or Xandris as is was called during our early cruising days, is still the best for short cruises. We are still waiting for long world cruises by them!
Seen so many cruise ship videos and I must say most of them are poor. This however is tastefully done and fun to watch. So thank you to yourself and your lovely wife for taking the time out to doing this for us. I’ve not been on a ship for about 5 years now and will hopefully go on one later this year but cannot decide which one so your videos are helping a lot. We are on Constellation in May, as we really fancied trying one of the older smaller ships. We have been on reflection two years ago which is a beautiful ship.

Nice video, not booked Asent, however going on Apex in August, my understanding is they are very similar, so looking forward to it, my only concern with booking any new ship to us, is how s scooter friendly it is, fully expecting it not to be an issue

I was solo on the Edge for a transatlantic passage and absolutely loved it. I'm not saying it couldn't be improved upon. But for me it raised the bar substantially. Loved the infinite verandah. WOW! That off the shoulder dress really rocks. Seriously the lady has great taste. Regarding the buffet. I don't think that seafood feast is there every night. But as I don't want to miss it, which night was it?

Well done. This ship seems to be the perfect marriage of scale and upscale. I am currently aboard Cunard’s Queen Victoria. I love this ship but I do find myself wishing for more opportunities to interact with fellow travelers.
The more contemporary look of the ship reminds of pictures I have seen of Cunard’s upcoming Queen Anne. Hmmm 🤔😀

Loving your videos.....tired of the usual you tubers only covering the "cheap" end of the cruise lines. However , I am confused at this video....unless things are different from The Beyond Edge class buffet. You show the buffet with the huge seafood selection like it is an everyday thing? Also the chocolate fountain? These are things that are only done one time per cruise...atleast thats how it was on The Beyond. Is it different on the Ascent? If so, my apologies. But if its once per cruise, it is misleading to show them as the "usual" And did you visit the buffet at night? It is VERY different at night. Maybe Celebrity is putting their best foot forward with the Ascent, but that was definitely not our experience on the Beyond (we were on her twice last year).
Hi, many thanks for your comments. The vast majority of the buffet footage I showed was from 'normal days.' The part showing the shrimps and shellfish was the seafood buffet, but the rest of the shots were on different days. I try to be fair and balanced with what I show.
In fact, my wife's comment, when she mentioned its 'the best buffet she's been to' , was actually from Day two, not the seafood day.
In my upcoming 2nd video from Ascent, which is being released this weekend, I also show the midnight buffet, right at the end of the day, so people can get a rounded viewpoint

Personally, I do not care for the edge class ships. Each one of the edge class iterations has less and less outdoor deck space and more inside specialty type experiences. In my opinion, the solstice class is the perfect blend of old and new. Edge is beautiful but not functional for outdoor sea bearing enthusiasts. They have completely eliminated any way to sit outside on deck five because of the lifeboats. The only seating area is for smokers. I feel like they’ve gone too far with this class of ship.

Hi, yes we did meet some solos, but you are right, Celebrity is quite pricey for that. But as they have got a lot of criticism on this front, it will be interesting to see if they try to improve their pricing for solos.
I think NCL has the best pricing and options for solo travelers.

If you've booked the Summit that is a "revolutionized" ship. Summit or Millennium. If you booked the Infinity or Constellation, those haven't been as refurbished and will have more of the true "old" Celebrity feel. I don't particularly like the move to neutrals with splashes of blue or teal in the revolutionized areas or what they've done to the classic dining room. The dining room on the Infinity and Constellation has the original design but I think the railings have been changed. Still, it's mostly original. But the old Celebrity ships are nothing like they were when they were new with a lot of added restaurants to them which changed them a lot. I was on the Millennium and Constellation when they were new. They are very different now. Michael's Club was a cigar smoking lounge, for instance, then it was a piano bar. Now it is the suite passenger's lounge and on the Infinity and Summit, it has the "contemporary" (IMO boring and more downscale) decor. Also, the casinos have been simplified in the "revolutionized" Summit or Millennium. The staterooms have been upgraded, however, in the revolutionized ships. But I'll check in on the "old" Celebritiy as I have very little interest in the Edge ships. If you're new to Celebrity, they're fine. If you're a more liked Celebrity for their established product from the 1990s to the Solstice class, then the lack of lounges and the whole different tone of the Edge may not be your cup of tea.

Too bad Celebrety is drifting toward the RCL cruise type with all of the uncontrolled kids and their party loud mouthed parents.
That hasn't been my experience.

I've done many Celebrity cruises and never ever have I experienced uncontrolled kids. Never.
