- Chancellor Rachel Reeves could be willing to change the plans for Labour’s crackdown on non-doms, according to reports.
The Financial Times reported on Thursday evening that Government officials had said Ms Reeves could change the policy if the numbers are not satisfactory.

Why is it shocking? Labour showed their true colours the second they got into power. The manifesto & personal pledges of the biggest shoulders carrying the biggest burden that people voted for them on, immediately turned into attacks on the elderly & the other poorest in society.

And how much money is going to be raised charging VAT on private school fees? To charge VAT the schools will have to register for VAT. Once they register for VAT ""they can then, generally, reclaim VAT on goods bought up to 4 years before registering for VAT, and services bought up to 6 months before registering as long as the following conditions are met; The goods were bought by the entity that is now registered for VAT"". All VAT on future goods and services can then be reclaimed. So, how much is the government actually going to receive by charging VAT on private school fees? Not to mention the overall reduced fee income VAT due to parents taking children out of private schools.
