It goes to show that whenever you do things in a predetermined way the results are often crushing because Reality is typically the hardest difficulty. Someone that is kind but doesn't care for the person that they have known for a while now is a secret love that is hard to move on from. What once was a family's honor and self-esteem becomes a person's pride and pride is something that someone can't really get rid of easily. You can selflessly give to a prideful person all you want, but all you are doing is fueling their pride. Once that pride is broken and people can see passed it, change is inevitable. Whether this change is for better or for worse is up to the person undergoing the change. Ethan was a great man, but needed to let go of his familial pride and attachment to someone that wasn't reciprocating anything to him. I can't blame him for his mistakes in the previous life, because you have to see from his point of view. Look into the current life and while he still made those mistakes it is even clearer that he did care for Mia. He just needed to be able to pull him out of the rut of toxicity that he had found himself in. Mia... Ethan... I hope you both live a long and full life.
Question: if Ethan did care for Mia, why didn't he saved her during the fire in the previous life?? Personally, if I was Ethan, I would've helped Mia instead of just leaving her to die. (PS: before you say that I should read the story, I did but the part where Ethan left Mia to die in the fire still didn't made sense to me if Ethan really cared about Mia.)
@@Dante999000 Answer: Ethan had a toxic view on his relationships. This was because of his Pride. Mia had to break through his Pride to get him to realize the reality of the situation: Amanda never loved him, only beckoned for him when she needed him. He and his parents went bankrupt. His social standing had to change and he had to experience the cold hard truth. The more you try to shelter someone from Reality, the more likely they are to blindly follow their whims like living with eyes closed. Mia had to get Ethan to see that Amanda never really loved him, but rather only loved what he could do for her. He was an ATM/Bank card/Wallet rather than a person. In the end, look passed the flaw of pride and shelter and what did you see from him? It was stated before that he initially went to save Mia from the fire, but was distracted by Amanda. He had initially dived into icy water to save Mia, but underneath the lack of lighting made it difficult to tell Mia from Amanda. Every time he slipped up in the second life he was able to cry from guilt as if he was a little boy that was still learning how to be a man. He had enough sense to know when he messed up and if something was up, which was good that his parents taught him that, but his parents failed to give him the Reality of life every now and then. Because of this, when you look at him as an individual, it is hard to hate him. It is hard to say that he didn't care for Mia. It should also be noted that when Amanda coaxed him away from saving Mia in the first life, Ethan hesitated to leave Mia briefly because he was trying to listen for Mia so he could get to her. It was said that he called out to her as well. His initial intention when he got there was to save Mia not Amanda. When Mia and Amanda were drowning in the pond, Ethan jumped in with the initial intention to... once again, save Mia not Amanda. Not to mention, it isn't stated whether or not he even knew that Amanda was at that very party. Ergo, if we can't say for certain that he knew Amanda was there, we can easily say he was unaware that she was there. Thus, when he saved Amanda that time, it was clearly unintentional. On top of that, he never had the opportunity to go back for Mia because someone else jumped into the water to save Mia while Ethan took Mia to land.

What happened next is she going back to her real home?
